Reviews Brookdale Brookfield
February 2026
My mother in law spent almost 4 months at Brookdale in Brookfield, WI on Woelfel Road in assisted living in the summer of 2025 to fall of 2026. She usually participates in daily chair exercises. There were several activities planned that were cancelled due to lack of staff. Many times, my mother in law did not know about the activities since she was not mobile and needed help with transporting to the activity. Unless we advocated for her, she was not always feeling included. The food was very good. She was given options and residents ate in a restaurant type setting. Originally, my mother in law was placed at a table with 3 other women but after a month she was removed and placed at a table by herself. It was her birthday when this happened. It really bothered her since she was dealing with the transition of moving as well as the loss of her husband from a couple months prior. During the time she was there, my mother in law had lost 10 pounds and received several uti's. Some of the staff are extra friendly and go above and beyond but there were many that looked like they were on their breaks sitting around on their phones eating and in various locations in the facility.. Weekends and evenings were the worst. Although she had daily visits and sometimes two visits daily by my husband she was not receiving the care that she was paying for. There was a new call button system that was being used. Residents had to hold the button for a length of time until it buzzed. Staff were not responding timely to the call buttons. If the staff responded to the button they often were not properly trained on how to turn the buttons off so my husband would teach the staff. We asked for a simple call button but they said that they did not have any, however some staff that arrived after her received them. There were times that she was not being changed, toileted, dressed, bathed and taken to meals. Several times my husband arrived in the morning with his mother in her clothes from the day before, wet depends, and soiled linens. They would say she did not want to do something and could not make her but we did not feel confident that they were always trying. If you do send your parents to this facility, I would have cameras set up. Her gold chain from her gold cross necklace was taken by someone and replaced with a cheap chain and a new TV remote was missing. In addition, she had told us that a staff member had asked her to write them a personal check which we reported but she could not tell us the name of the staff. Her neighbor had told me she had several hundred dollars stolen. At one point, she needed a sara stedy which helps with transportation since she was weak with her UTI's. We had to purchase the sara stedy and train most of the staff since they did not know how to use it. With frequent UTI's they wanted to move her memory care which they felt would get more individualized attention. That is when we moved her to another facility in Brookfield where she is getting her needs met and being taken care of. She is able to walk the full length of a room, maintaining her weight, bathing twice a week, fully dressed daily even with earrings on.

Our family is so impressed with and grateful for all the special care being given to our mom, Alice. She went into Brookdale, as a result of a fall that broke her shoulder. I attempted to get her a hospital bed, because she was unable to lay flat due to the fall. The insurance company denied the request. Mom was sleeping in a recliner for an extended period of time and, at one point, with a catheter. I recently received a call from Amy saying that she found a bed for mom, free of charge. She truly went above and beyond, and I was touched by her caring heart. Also, the nurses and caregivers provided extra special care to mom during the time she had a catheter and continue to do so. They are a blessing to each person they devote their time to. What would we do without them. Thank you.

Top Notch!

It was a tough decision to choose a home for my mother. Although she had a terminal diagnosis I wanted her remaining time to feel as normal as possible. After touring numerous facilities I chose Brookdale in Brookfield. The Assisted living complex felt like a home and the staff was friendly, caring and accommodating. There are so many people at Brookdale that made my mother's end of life journey as comfortable and loving as possible. One employee, Mitch, went above and beyond to make sure my mother and I were taken care of during this very difficult time. I'm very happy with my decision to place my mother at Brookdale and will always have loving memories of the staff

My sister has only been here for a short time, but so far, things seem to going very well at Brookdale. The staff is very helpful, it's a clean faculty, and I like that they have an intermediate program for those between assisted living and memory care. The food is very good here. They serve a Mediterranean diet, which is excellent, because that is what my loved one prefers. I also really like that everyday, they have about 6 or 7 activities going on, even on weekends. It seems to be a very lively community, and we are very pleased with it so far.

Brookdale Brookfield AL seems to be a good fit for our loved one. The staff is very friendly. They are very easy to communicate with if we have any questions or concerns regarding our loved one's well-being. They keep us informed and updated by phone. Where our loved one is living there are only a few residents on the same floor so the staff is very attentive to care needs. The staff is very welcoming to our family when we come to visit. We have heard no complaints regarding the meals they provide. Our loved enjoys participating in the activities provided. It is a very clean and well-kept community. They provide outside areas and enclosed patios for the residents to enjoy the outdoors. We are very satisfied with the security measures that they provide to keep our loved one safe. I would recommend this community to others.
