I helped my mom make the transition to the Terraces this summer, and it has been a wonderful experience. I don't hesitate to recommend the Terraces to anyone, and I am thankful my mom is living there. The staff is exceptional and they are with you every step of the way through your application and move in. They are not pushy - they are helpful and genuine. The most lovely people. My mom has settled in well and one short month later feels part of the community. The residents at the Terraces are just as phenominal as the staff! They are friendly and welcoming. For example, if someone is sitting alone at dinner, it won't be long before they are invited to sit with a group of others who are eating together. The Terraces offers a long list social activities and exercise classes. I often say to my mom that the Terraces feels like a little bit of heaven on Earth. And an unexpected benefit I look forward to is having the Terraces be my mom's partner in the aging process. It is not just a place to live, but a team of loving, helpful, knowledgeable, professionals who will be a source of information and support over the years. I could say so much more about our fabulous experience, and I am wondering when they will open a Terraces community for young professionals with kids. I'd move in!

After discussing our personal goals for the last couple of decades of life, my husband Fred and I researched several retirement places. We soon learned about HumanGood and began researching almost all of them. We lived 1 hour from Fresno and were happy that The Terraces is right here in "our" Fresno. We eventually focused on this one location and then really dug in with our research. We met with Sales people(Ruthie, Robyn and Emilee are amazing and beyond helpful really!) Ruthie suggested we do the financial analysis to start and I highly recommend that. You just don't know if you qualify. I found that part to be confusing but Ruthie was excellent at helping us review our finances. We also needed to sell our home and , she factored that in to our analysis. We then saw how easy this is---of course selling the home and moving the stuff is tough if you let it be. So--we put a deposit on a certain floor plan here at the Terraces, we put the house on the market and our home sold to the first person in a day or two. We called Ruthie and said "EEK" we sold fast and have to move….our deposited place was not yet available, but she was undeterred. She said, come on over I will think of something! She and Alexis had it all figured out---and we are now in a different floor plan in a different building than we expected, but we are very very happy! Gentle Transitions company was very good and fast!(packing and unpacking) What a help that was. I chose not to get to overwhelmed by the move. We are actually amazed at our peace and happiness here….yes we miss what we left, but we do not have to take care of property and home. Here, we can have our alone time in our apartment, we can have lots of social things if we want, or we can just walk about the grounds which are amazingly beautiful. I am happy to answer questions and concerns, you can arrange that through the Sales office if necessary. Thank You Terraces staff----Peggy Cochran

TSJG is a really great place to come to and live and know your worries about home maintenance is gone. There is a place for you to fit in very easily here no matter if you are fully able to do anything to needing help. CCRC's are really wonderful here and the care for people is exceptional. Love the staff and love the response from Alexa on any problem. They are fully transparent about where our $'s are going on a monthly basis and I really appreciate that. We just left our place for a 6 week vacation to Spain and Scotland and we came home to our place and it was clean and spotless. No worries while we were gone.

My mom's friend Joy has lived there almost 15 years and seemed to love it. My mom hadn't heard from her and she didn't answer her phone. She learned from a mutual friend that Joy is in extended care at this place. My mom called and left messages twice to learn the status of her best friend over the last two months and hasn't heard one word back from this business. I wouldn't let my relative buy into this place. Why aren't they communicating? Very suspicious. My mom is 96 and this is stressful for her. Update: my mom's been in the skilled nursing area of SJG twice in the last 8 months. The food and staff are excellent. One exception though- the first night my mom was placed in hospice care there March this year her gold partial was taken during the night. This impacted her ability to eat properly. I understand you don't leave jewelry but I thought your teeth were safe. I still think this is the best facility in Fresno but I would be careful with your family's teeth. My mom passed away…I don't care about her teeth but I do think the thief is sick.

I moved into The Terraces in June of 2022,and I love it. The management is great and I enjoy my lovely apartment in the Tuscany area. After ruthlessly downsizing my possessions, I feel at home without all the worries of repairs and maintenance. I have everything that I need. What I particularly enjoy is not having so many bills to pay each month. Included in our monthly rent is basic cable T.V., PG&E, water & garbage, all meals, housekeeping, and access to a small onsite market where we can purchase items with our food points This is one of the best decisions I have made in my senior years!!!!!

This review is not of the facility, it is of an individual employee who does a wonderful job taking care of patients. Her name is Yee and she goes above and beyond occasionally. She deserves five stars but San Joaquin Gardens drags my rating down by one star because the facility is about a 2 to 3 star place. I went to see my mom and found her. holding her legs up to keep from laying in the brown pile beneath her butt and she stated she had been laying that way for a while. She asked me to find someone to clean her up so I asked a couple people and they said they didn't do that. I saw Yee and knew that she had done that previously and looked like she was reporting to or returning to work. I explain my mother's situation and within 5 minutes Yee was taking care of it. After she was done I offered to give her a $20 tip for her excellent service but she stated it was against policy and she would not accept it. I then asked her name she spelled it and that's what this review is for. San Joaquin gardens is lucky to have an employee like Yee. It's too bad the management and people in charge are not as good as Yee and the other staff that actually work to support the patients.

This is home…safe, secure, healthy and fun! I could not have asked for more in retirement. We are not only a vibrant community, but we are also the next best thing to a family! I feel so fortunate to live here!!!

My wife entered the SJG Health Care area after a fall shattering her knee cap and subsequent surgery. She was under their care for 45 days. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the care and therapy she received from everyone daily. Her room and bathroom were kept spotless, her meds were served on schedule and her meal choices were very good. The administration, nurses, nurse assistants and therapists were very friendly and professional. We have told so many friends that we recommend San Joaquin Gardens if they ever find themselves in need of excellent care or an outstanding senior residence.

When I was looking for a place, I visited many of the senior residences here in Fresno. At the time there was only one that offered all of the different levels of care that I might need as I got older. I chose the Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens because I was impressed with the services that were offered. I especially wanted my children to feel comfortable that I would be safe and cared for.

During all of the bad of 2020, including getting laid off, I have to say that being hired at the Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens has been the best career move of my life! Having spent my career in restaurants, I was excited to entire a new segment of dining service but I could not have predicted what this wonderful place would have on my life. From the very beginning, the team at TSJG made me feel accepted, despite never have worked at a senior facility. They made me feel comfortable and answered all of the questions I had. The entire director team made me feel at home as soon as I arrived, which allowed me to come out of my shell much quicker than normal. Our residents are second to none and also welcomed me with open arms and masked faces! This truly is a family environment. Every day I GET to come to work. Yes, I look forward to Fridays and the weekend with my family but on Sundays, I am looking forward to coming back to work. That has never been the case! Thank you to everyone at the Terraces for making the past five months a true warm welcome to the San Joaquin Valley!

The Terraces is amazing!!!! Everyone there is so kind and attentive to all the patients! The facility is extraordinary beyond! Extremely clean and inviting!!! The food menu has many options, along with being so delicious!! My Mom is enjoying her stay for her rehab after surgery! Their patience with my Mom is enlightening to me!! We love living at The terraces! We are so glad we moved here when we did-- almost 4 years ago. Great food, wonderful activities, the people are interesting and very friendly, and the Staff is exceptional! It is a beautiful campus, and we all love the gardens and landscaping. I have no family in Fresno. That is why I am so blessed to be a part of my Terrace Family. From the 1st day I spoke with a member of the Sales Team until the day I moved in, only 3 months had elapsed. And that was the best decision I made, ten plus years ago, except perhaps marrying my late husband. I was still working part time, and was a young 73. Life is full, busy, (peaceful when you want it to be) and exciting at the Terraces.
