My mother-in-law lived at Vincentian Schenley Gardens in the memory care unit. The facility has been consistently short-staffed in the memory care unit—often with only one aide responsible for 14 residents. This level of staffing leads to delayed care, long response times, and visible strain on the staff who are present. These issues have been ongoing, not temporary lapses. Despite repeatedly raising concerns with management, we found them uncooperative and unwilling to take meaningful action. Instead of solutions, we received dismissive responses and little follow-through. Had it not been for a private duty aide we arranged for my mother-in-law, her comfort and well-being would have been severely compromised. Families entrust loved ones to facilities like this with the expectation of safe, attentive care—an expectation that Vincentian Schenley Gardens has not met. While some staff members are hardworking and caring, the chronic understaffing and lack of accountability from management make this an unsafe and unreliable choice. We have since moved my mother-in-law to another facility where the staff-to-resident ratio is appropriate and residents’ needs are met with care and attentiveness. It is also worth noting that many positive reviews appear to have been written by staff in an effort to boost ratings, which makes it difficult for families to rely on Google reviews when making such an important decision.

My time at Vincentian Schenley Gardens has been a great experience as a capstone student! I want to start out by saying thank you to Rosemarie, Jon, & Cassidy for providing resources and materials to help the capstone experience run smoothly. The staff at Vincentian Schenley Gardens were very friendly and always acknowledged my presence at the facility. It was nice to feel welcomed every time I walked in. Rosemarie always made sure I had everything I needed to make my project a success.

I had the pleasure of completing my Doctoral Capstone project here as part of my occupational therapy program at Chatham University. The staff were very supportive of my project. I worked closely with some of the management at this location, and the staff clearly cares for the residents and acts in their best interest. The multigenerational living program with Chatham graduate students is phenomenal, as they interact frequently with the residents and lead activities! During my project, where I taught the students how to create life memoirs for the residents, I saw beautiful intergenerational friendships blossom.

I had the opportunity to complete my doctoral capstone project at Vincentian Schenley Gardens. The staff was all very welcoming and helpful, saying hello every time I passed them in the halls. I could tell through my interactions with the staff that they truly care for the residents and their needs. I also had the chance to not only observe but also participate in a lot of the activities that are provided at the site. I loved to see how happy and excited the residents were to engage and felt that there was a wide variety of activities to make it feel like home for every resident. Vincentian managers are always open to suggestions and making the environment better and truly want to make sure this environment is a comfortable living space for their residents.

The staff at Schenley Gardens was AWESOME when we were looking for a facility for my brother. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and made a difficult situation run smoothly. Living 700 miles away, I didn't get to tour the facility, but my mother and sister did and said it is beautiful. This was the best possible outcome for a very difficult and sad situation. It is good to know there are still people who are caring and compassionate. Thank you, Schenley Gardens for your help.

So far we are satisfied with my mother in law move to this community. I'am pretty active in her day to day living, and everything is working out well. We do feel she is safe, and in good hands. Overall this community is working out well for my mother in law, and her needs.
