The executive director is phenomenal. She is young and energetic. Has personal engagement with all the residents. Open to ideas and suggestions. Also, she has an open door policy so I can reach out with any questions. Their activities director is amazing. She is full of energy and great ideas. They have fun activities, themed events and fun guests including puppies. A church came by one day to hand each resident a carnation. So sweet. Yesterday my mom was out gardening and another resident was peeling the veggies for lunch. All their staff from nurses to caretakers are wonderful with the residents. They work hard at keeping residents engaged and loving on them. I feel very informed by all the staff. The building itself is beautifully decorated including memorabilia from the Bickford family, especially Mary B which the memory care unit is affectionately named after. The apartments are the perfect size whether you want an efficiency or 1 bedroom. I was able to bring in furniture and decor that would help mom feel at home. The safety and security is top notch. No one gets in or out of the building without a code, guests sign in and out and the elevator has a code for the memory floor. No escaping! My mom couldn't be in a better place besides home.

I would like to update my review. Choosing a senior care facility for my mother was a difficult decision, but the Family Advocate made the process so much easier with a thoughtful, compassionate tour and continued support for my mother’s needs. The facility feels truly home-like, which meant everything to us when we could no longer provide in-home care. The staff, activities, food, and overall environment are wonderful, and most importantly, I feel safe and confident knowing my mother lives here. I’m very grateful for the care and would highly recommend this facility.

I have to say a word about the food at Bickford UA -- it's delicious! You can tell that it's good home-cooked food with just a few bites. No pre-packaged stuff. My spouse is a resident of Bickford and I frequently taste his meals and occasionally have lunch or dinner with him. We enjoy the food very much. Bickford is lucky to the kitchen staff that they do.

I sought input from friends, family and a care broker before touring numerous facilities. Bickford of Upper Arlington made the top of every list. The management team and staff are amazing. They are professional, experienced, kind, warm, compassionate and dedicated! The team goes above and beyond every day. My Mom is slightly introverted...so the team gently encourages Mom to participate in activities. My Mom is in good hands at Bickford! The director, Molly is active and involved...always connecting with residents and available to answer questions from family members. Molly is amazing. Thank you to all at Bickford for creating a safe, warm, compassionate space for my Mom.

The staff here and management team are professional and such caring people. The location is amazing, right on the river with incredible views from the residents’ apartments. They are pet friendly and have the sweetest branch doggies, so if your loved one might benefit from pet therapy, bring them here! Cannot recommend them enough!!

We had an issue where two years ago the sales manager indicated the facility would accept medicaid after our loved one spent two years at Bickford. This information was also provided to Oasis, which is a non-profit group that assists families choose assisted living facilities. It turned out that the sales manager mis-represented the information about accepting Medicaid and he was either terminated or resigned. We contacted the Long-term Care Ombudsman and tried to resolve the issue, but the director never responded. The new sales manager indicated that Bickford had applied for Medicaid eight months ago but had not yet been approved. In my opinion, the caregivers do a good job, but the facility director does not respond to telephone calls or emails.

My mother was a resident in the memory care unit for only one year but I cannot say enough kind words about The Bickford of Scioto. The property is beautiful and spotless, always decorated for the season. The activities and food are all excellent. The staff is fantastic, Highest compliments specifically to Angela, Marie, Janine and Zack.They treated my mother and us like family, which we are forever thankful. She loved it there. I highly recommend!!!

My dad has been on the memory floor for just over a year. We were there for the change over from Sunrise to Bickford. Although it was not a 'pretty' transition, I never had a safety or neglect concern. Now that Bickford has recently gained firmer control, I am again feeling very confident that choosing this facility as my dad's home was the right decision. I love the size of it, the staff is caring, the meals are good and it is clean and safe.

My husband, Carlton, is a resident on the Memory Care floor at Bickford of Scioto. He loves living there, says it feels like home & a family. Since the original/former staff left to go to another facility, the environment & atmosphere of Bickford has improved so much. It’s a happy place. Well taken care of. And, the food is wonderful. No regrets about selecting this place over 5 others that I researched & toured.
