While my dad is happy at the facility, I have definitely noticed a decline in the cleanliness of the facility and also in the appearance of the facility. The furniture in the lobby is dated, worn and dirty. The lobby itself is filthy for what these residents are paying this facility should look a lot nicer. I have brought these issues to the attention of the manager, and she assured me that they are working on it, but it sounds like it has been an ongoing issue with ownership and now I’m being told that they are waiting on furniture to go on sale? That’s ridiculous. First impressions make a difference when choosing a facility for your loved one. Spend some money on your residents! There are several employees who go above and beyond to make a difference, Gwen being one of them. And then you have others who sit and the front desk and do nothing all day. It’s noticed.

My Mom moved to Summerfield in November of 2025. By February of 2026 we were looking for a new facility for her, and she moved the next month, but spent about three months at Summerfield. My Mom has difficulty with managing a calendar and needed reminders for activities and even meals. Prior to move-in, the sales staff assured us they can do this, but they didn't deliver on it. Initially she was getting occasional reminders (a knock on the door at meal time) for meals only, and then that stopped happening. We were also told she'd get a "buddy" assigned when she moved in who would show her around for the first few days. That didn't happen either. Summerfield has over 100 residents and can feel overwhelming to someone who is new. For example, everyone eats in the same large dining room, and if you don't know anyone it can be difficult at meal time to try and find someone to eat with. Over the course of her time there I tried to get some of these things addressed. I found that for just about anything I needed -- getting meal reminders, getting Summerfield to administer her medications -- I needed to talk to Melaniee, the executive director. I found it extremely difficult to contact her. I would email my request and ask her to call me, then call daily each day, and usually after three or four days Melaniee would take my call or possibly just respond to my initial email. I don't know if the problem is that she's too busy, but from my perspective it felt like she really didn't want to talk to me. One bright spot was Tammy, who coordinates the group activities. She was quite responsive by email and phone and would even email me activity calendars each month. I'm giving Summerfield three stars because depending on how much care your loved one needs, Summerfield could work for you. If you don't need anything from the staff other than meals, laundry, and housekeeping, it's probably a good, affordable option. But if you need more, you're probably not going to get it.

When my mom was in rehab, I was looking for a safe and thriving assisted living facility to place my mom. There were over a dozen places that I researched over the course of 2 months-Bradenton, Sun City, Venice and Sarasota. I reached out to several senior advisors who gave me a list of possibilities. From pricing, location, cleanliness, activities and environment, I was told that Summerfield Senior Living in Bradenton was the place to be. My mom's speech therapist gave me this listing to check out. From the moment I called and spoke to Edie in Sales to my mom's move in, this facility was gracious and helpful. My mom moved in early February and she feels at home. The caregivers, med techs, kitchen staff, nursing and business staff go above and beyond to make sure the residents are safe and feel at home. The maintenance staff takes care of the inside and outside with care. Ms. Gwen takes the residents to local stores and appointments and always serves the residents with grace and humor. The front desk does a great job listening to the resident's concerns. Donna and Edie who handle the move-ins and logistics made the move in process easy and simple. Codie and the dining staff provide excellent and healthy meal options. I like the fact that my mom has her own studio while others have an apartment, depending on availability. If you are looking for a safe and warm environment to place your loved one in, look no further, Summerfield Senior Living is a great choice. Of course, every facility has their challenges and concerns. However, when you meet the team at this facility, their goal is to work with you to make sure your concerns are addressed professionally, promptly and with grace.

My mom has been at Summerfield senior living since March 2025 She will be 99 May 15, 2026 and she loves Summerfield Senior living everyone that works there is always available when my mom needs help. I’m glad I picked the Summerfield senior living for my mom. I would recommend this place for anyone who needs Senior assisted living.

Every time I have visited- it’s just so warm and welcoming. It’s so bright and airy and there all these little activity areas and really cool outside spaces with gazebo.

I hope this is forwarded to the right people. My grandmother, is currently staying at Truewood in Bradenton. I wanted to highlight one of your nurses, Britney, for being a true treasure. My grandmother is likely in her last days with us, so my husband and I came in from out of town to visit. My mom, dad, husband, and I took my grandmother outside for some air, and as we were walking, Britney stopped us to say hello. She came right up to my grandmother, all the while going on about how beautiful she is and how amazing she looked in her pink robe. You look as pretty as a princess! At this point, my grandmother is not very responsive, but when I tell you she beamed at the compliments, man, she smiled bigger than I had seen in a long time! My family enjoyed some fresh air and said some emotional goodbyes to my grandmother. On our way out, Britney stopped us again to give us each a big hug. We all stood and talked for a while. She gave us so many encouraging words and ensured us she was going to check back in on my grandmother after we left. I cannot put into words how much her kindness and warmth meant to our family during this difficult time. I want to acknowledge how wonderful she is and to thank her for going above and beyond. I wish I had gotten her last name so I could ensure she gets proper recognition. She said that she works Fridays with my grandmother in Memory Care. Anyone from Truewood, please feel free to reach out to me privately if you need more information to help identify this amazing nurse! She deserves to be recognized

At least twice a week I have to call up and REMIND them that my mom needs her pain medication. If a business offers that service and you pay for it...that service SHOULD be done for the residents that need it.

My parents arrived at Truewood by Merrill, Bradenton Florida on Dec 23, 2021. It was a difficult decision as a family, especially considering the approaching holiday. They are 90 and 84. But Truewood actually made the move easy for our family. From my first inquiry with their sales manager to the present, everything about this place has impressed us. From the highest level executive director and department managers, to the entry level workers, everyone has shown my parents (and me!) incredible kindness. Their rooms are immaculate and cleaned daily. The common areas are pleasantly maintained. Their executive chef prepares delicious and nutritious meals, even as a full kitchen update is currently taking place. That’s not easy to do. At every opportunity, special events are celebrated for the residents with a festive flair. Most importantly, my parent’s nursing and P.A. care is excellent. They offer various levels of nursing care (if needed) and will help assess what the resident needs, including advanced memory care if that time comes. I honestly can’t imagine them living anywhere else. The place is only a few miles from my home, but I would drive a lot further if I had to - just to keep them there. Truewood is now family to us.

Much better than many other places I’ve been in other states. I’ve been here dozens of times. I’d park myself here when the time comes. Same problem with this place that every place seems to have. They are short staffed on holidays, trouble keeping the best employees working for them, etc. I’ve never seen a major issue like someone getting delayed care, mean staff, or an unchanged resident.

I have personally seen Tijuana Saladyga, LPN work. I recently had a loved one in her former facility. Her dedication and hard work were apparent from the moment I met her. She was attentive and caring. As sometimes happens in ALF's there were times when things did not go well. Tijuana was always truthful even if it meant admitting that there was a mistake on her part or that of the facility. She, however, did not put up with staff who did not perform well. It appears the young man who can't spell is a disgruntled former employee. He also posted a negative review of his former boss at Brookdale. Seems there is a pattern here and the source of the review should be considered. Unfortunate that people can leave bad reviews even when there is no truth in them.

Visiting my 97 year old Grandmother and was extremely pleased with how kind and gentle the staff is! They were playing "brain games" in the dining room and insisted that my Gram joined tomorrow. They went as far as making sure the receptionist called my Gram for a reminder tomorrow! Spacious suites and very clean! Gram is very happy with the meals too! Refreshing to see!
