My mom lived here, first in Assisted Living and then Memory Care, until she passed away recently at age 99. The staff (front office, aides, housekeeping, dining room, activities) were all so kind and caring. It was a wonderful experience and my mom felt safe and cared for. The facility is well maintained and clean, and I was so thankful that my mom was able to get the care she needed. Even in Memory Care there were day trips that she enjoyed and lots of activities. The activity staff was very patient and kept the residents as busy as they wanted to be. My sincere thanks to the exceptional people at St. Edwards Fairlawn!

My review is specific only to the rehab portion of the Fairlawn facility. My father spent 12 days at St. Ed's to rehab after partial hip replacement. Prior to his fall, he was living a full life, still an excellent driver and sharp as a tack. 36 hours after his arrival, he tested positive for Covid, otherwise he would have been moved immediately. There was no working AC in his room and we weren't allowed to have his door open for ventilation. For the first NINE days of his stay, no one bathed him in any way and we were asking for it daily. No one assisted him to brush his teeth or shave. No one cleaned his room which was grimy upon arrival (we have pictures of the filth). And rehab...we there was almost none. The hospital transfer records show that St. Ed's confirmed he was to be full weight bearing. That NEVER happened. He was bedridden, diapered, and ignored as much as possible. Per the records send by St. Ed's to the new facility, his glucose levels were never checked once and his meds were never timely, if at all. Due to the extreme room temp, Dad developed heat rash all over his body. The facility doctor ordered a hydrocortisone cream 3x/day. It was another 3+ days after that before the cream was applied and only a total of about 4-5 times over the remainder of his stay (>1 week). We (the family) cleaned and disinfected his room numerous times daily (we provided our own cleaning supplies) and applied OTC cream to help with his pain. We emptied his urinal and his trash numerous times a day and did what we could until we could get him transferred, all while sweating in his 80++ degree room in full PPE. Thankfully the social worker was able to help out with some things. Within 24 hours of his transfer to a different facility, he was showered, shaved, wearing street clothes, using a regular bathroom and took his first full weight-bearing steps. Until St. Ed's can properly staff with compassionate, caring staff, I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone. And, BTW, all of the relevant department heads and the administrator were very well aware of these issues.

Same issues as most nursing homes regarding staffing and turnover, but otherwise a great place to work. Staff is treated fairly, residents rights are put first. We try to have a low patient to staff ratio but covid has complicated this. Very good for religious residents. Church daily. Communion is available. Campus at Fairlawn is very large, each building has its own environment. Honestly some of the nicest staff I've worked with in 20 years of health care.

My mom has been in the nursing care unit for several mos. They have lost her dentures, hearing aids, & most of her clothes. This wk was the 1st time visitors were allowed since covid 19. Her room was dirty & had dead flies. So sad.
