Tonight Courtyard had their Thanksgiving dinner for residents and family. Mom loves it there. Staff always show compassion and commitment to the residents. The staff worked tirelessly to serve a delicious meal to everyone. It is so comforting to know that Mom is in good hands.

Our family is very thankful for the wonderful staff at the Randall Residence in Troy. They sincerely care about the residents and do their best to meet all of their needs. Much effort is put into making the Randall feel like a new home away from home. Being a smaller facility with a staff who is friendly and truly cares, gives the Randall a cozy, family feeling.

My Mom and her husband moved into Randall House, Troy, Ohio 12/22. They have adjusted really well to their apartment and the community! They have enjoyed the many activities everyday! And the outings! They love the delicious meals! The staff has been wonderful!!

Mom has lived at Randall Residence of Troy since August 2022. Love the place. All the staff have been super friendly since day one. She goes out on monthly sometimes weekly excursions. She is making friends and really likes it there. I cannot say enough good things. Thank You All Randall Residence Staff.

I have nothing but great things to say about this facility, the administration, and care staff. My father moved here for the last 6 months of his life after my mother passed away and he was fighting a losing battle with cancer. He was there when the Covid pandemic started and I was so impressed with everything they did to not only try to keep the residents safe, but also to really show genuine care for my dad that I was no longer able to do from outside the facility. When my dads mood and health was ever a concern, the director and nurses were very quick to contact me. I also appreciate the little things like how my dad was able to keep his cat in his studio apartment. Because it is a smaller facility I felt like I was able to gain a rapport with his nurses and the other residents. I know he valued everything that was done for him at the Caldwell House during his last months and so do I.

The staff at Caldwell House are all caring people. They go the extra step to be available for their residents. That in turn, makes the residents comfortable to be in the warm, inviting environment.

I actually traveled here by request of a resident who needed notary services. It was my first time there. The grounds were maintained and landscaped like a business. I noticed there were simple seasonal decor around the front door. At the time of my visit I was recovering from rotator cuff surgery and was wearing a huge wedged sling on my dominant arm that was cumbersome and awkward. I had little trouble entering the double doors as there was handicap accessible automatic doors. There was a pleasant Amish gentleman seated on the porch and a few people inside who immediately noticed that I was looking for identifiable directions to get where I needed. What I noticed first was the stark gray color of the walls. To the right an eating area and left a large tv and living room furnishings. A table set with a very large checker board game was in a hall area. Behind me to my right was a desk area for staff I assume. I was greeted and asked my purpose and agency I was with. Then directed to sign in to a visitor log. In my state, she offered assistance with that and signed my name and arrival time for me. As I traveled back to the room I was searching, I was taken back a bit at the lack of warmth in the surroundings. ... As well as some of the residents. My understanding of assisted living was an apartment to setting for seniors needing a little help but mostly active physically and cognitively....a transition between independent living and a skilled nursing facility. A facility that cost more than an independent apartment but less than full skilled facility.... But with the same amenities as a private apartment. I was shocked to find that not the case. The "apartment" I visited was down a very wide stark corridor. Hospitals and hotels have more warmth than this place. I almost expected to see tiny glass windows on each door like isolation units in prison as represented on TV. The apartment did have a tiny kitchenette similar to that in a hotel. The room was hardly as big as a hotel room. The couple I visited were in there late 90's and mobile, alert and cheerful. They indicated the room was too small and that she had fallen just that day trying to walk around items in the small space. ( I suggested a wheeled chair with back, arms to move about safely) They shared the cost with me and indicated it was $500 more a month to go up to the next size apartment. In our area you could own a house appropriate them for $500 a month. I felt bad for the veteran and his wife as he indicated that he worked hard all 96 years of his life to have "this" (that didn't even belong to him.). Ive seen nursing homes that were so much nicer and warmer and more " home" like than this assisted living facility. Shame on you Caldwell house. I expected better.
