I chose Cogir Sr. Living because it is an attractive clean and bright open place. Everyone is smiling and happy. It gives me a sense of security. All staff and residents are friendly. We have a lot of activities going on. Entertainment, games and outings, along with exercise classes, social events sheduled throughout the days. We are a big family sharing stories and experiences, enjoying a peaceful journey. Happy environment, happy people! My family were skeptic at first but NOW are very happy for me. They call my home a "Sr. Dorm Resort". Love it!

Once upon a time in the West in recent times in a land called Fremont there is a Senior Living Community very appropriately named Cogir of Fremont, We are a 3-month old young couple resident among real Seniors at Cogir of Fremont, CA. We are retired over 10-year but recently for some personal reason we decided to seriously look for a Senior Living Community. We looked at 3 different facilities in the area but the team of Jann and Christine (Sales and Marketing) score the highest on my scale of Helpfulness and Friendliness. They suggested that we come in for a trial period of 3 days at one of their 1-bedroom apartment close to their Penthouse (a beautiful setting by itself). The Team must be very confident about this setup because after 3 days we fell in love: Staff members (Juanita from the front desk to Chisma, Harris from the kitchen and Dining to Eddy from Maintenance) and Residents alike (Jodi our neighbor, Al and Connie, Don and Grace) are so helpful. But after living here for 3 months now (since December 2025) we found out that the Truth is even truer (is it possible? yes): Staff and Residents are even nicer than we thought. From what I see Cogir is leaning more towards Independent Living than Assisted Living so what we reveal here is more applicable to Independent Living. 1. Food and Dining Thanks to Executive Chef Jon and his Team for an excellent job in the Kitchen and the Dining room. The Dining room with its high ceiling seems huge for the number of Residents who dine here. Not only the variety of Dishes is very welcome but is prepared with Seniors in mind since they are not salty nor too sweet. Be prepared to be impressed by the Salad Bar always available for Lunch and Dinner. Special Events (and there are plenty of them throughout the 3 months we are here): Christmas, Chinese New Year, monthly Birthdays for Residents who are born in the same month are well-organized. 2. Activities and Exercises. Thanks to Amanda and her wonderful staff for keeping us healthily tired yet happy. There are plenty of things for Residents to do here from going shopping to eat out at local restaurants (where else???) to light exercises (Yoga, Taichi, walking, Drum Ball which my wife loves,etc) and Mahjong (I am learning this new game at Cogir), RummiKube, etc. You can’t go wrong with what Amanda and her Team plan for us. Thanks Amanda. 3. Sales and Marketing Christine, Jann and Rachelle are at the heart of this Department. Stop by to see them and talk to them to see how helpful and cheerful they can be. They also know what they are doing in their field with a highly optimistic sense of humor. 4. Front desk. What can I say about Cogir’s Front desk if not for their friendliness almost always with a smile to greet guests. The one concern I have is the crackling noise from their walkie-talkie from their Caregivers/Maintenance crews. Can they do something like changing the channel so what they talk about is top secret that no one else can hear? But don’t forget about the hot cookies put out by the ladies from this Department. Almost forget that Jacintha happily helps us the first day we are here to adjust the remote control for the Heater/Air Condition. Thanks Jacintha. Marlon and his Maintenance Team make sure they are almost first responders when residents need help. Last but not least I think there are some items that Management might look into to make resident’s lives easier: 1. Bring in a Security Guard to roam around the facility from about 10/11PM to about 6/7AM, 2. There is a shortage of parking spaces at Cogir of Fremont. I don’t know what else Management can do besides not letting their employees park their cars in the parking lot during daytime, which is already done, 3. Install a PA system so any communication can be transmitted in real-time to all residents.

The staff was caring and professional. The staff gets 4 stars. Administration uncaring and unresponsive. Raised fees over $6,000 a month. No empathy to our situation. Luckily we found a new place 4,000 less a month. We were told illegal to have help come in after 5 years and forced us to stop our additional help. Did this to the whole facility. Was very difficult and sad.

They have activities planned for the entire day ranging from exercise, art classes, music and cultural programs. The friendships formed are priceless. Today, Thanksgiving, I was pleased to have lunch with my dear Aunt who has lived there a number of years. I found my aunt more familiar with the staff who went out of their way to greet her. The meal was the best I’ve ever tasted. I don’t think this was simply because it’s Thanksgiving, but it seemed the food was at a higher quality of taste and of nutrients. Just some thoughts.

My father lives in Cogir of Fremont, and what I like most is that the community has the right, well-trained staff to make it a happy place for its residents. Krisner, the front desk receptionist, is very friendly and professional, always ready to answer questions and find the best solutions when needed. There's a large restaurant within the community with a wide variety of food on the menu, and the manager is very kind and helpful. Lately, they seem to be baking cookies, and my father loves warm, fresh cookies. If you're looking for a place for your parents or grandparents, this is definitely the best option you'll find in the Bay Area and in the city of Fremont. I went in Cogir for the Open House and I received a beautiful and warm welcome to the community. The bulding is so big and clean, they have too many Seniors from a lot of nationalities in there, the food was fantastic and the Front Desk recepcionist are so nice when you got questions they will help you so fast, I'm really considering to look for an apartment for my mom. They gave me a tour and there's a lot of nice prices and options to get.

This is the right place to bring your senior family if you're considering to get 24hrs assistance for them. I get a tour inside the community and they have a community activities director who makes more than 50 activities in monthly for the residents, they also have a Restaurant area which is so nice because not too many Senior communities has it. They have nice housekeeping and the most important thing to say is the caregivers are very vee friendly with seniors, I really liked how they work quickly to assist my mother in law.

My mom lived at Cogir for six years and I used to visit her there and I was always impressed with all of her neighbors who were wonderful people, many of whom befriended her, even developing a routine where they would stop by and knock on her door to accompany her down to dinner. When I stayed with Mom sometimes as her guest, I would buy myself a meal pass and enjoy the food, the service and the companionship in the great dining room. Mom had a nice little one bedroom apartment with a balcony, and since I have moved into my own studio apartment here, I’ve enjoyed knowing many of the same people who were friends to her before she left us. There is a treasure trove of opportunity to not only know these residents of many years, but also new residents who are also discovering new friends in this community. The building itself is pleasantly appointed, with many windows and nice little couches and chairs along the hallways where people can sit and visit. It’s in a nice neighborhood with tree lined sidewalks and great shopping nearby with even a Whole Foods across the street, and you can walk to Raleys or to Washington Hospital or Kaiser, and you can schedule a ride to anywhere in Fremont. The people at the front desk are wonderful, as are the wait servers in the dining room and the people who arrange the many craft and exercise classes, bingo and other enjoyable community activities. There are two beautiful grand pianos, one in the library one in the library and the other in the grand dining room, and since I have moved in they are putting in fresh new carpet and new furniture in the TV room, library and lobby. I enjoy my room and its balcony and the step-in shower and the remote controlled heater/air conditioner. I’ve made many friends not only among my fellow residents but also among the truly dedicated staff and management. They bend over backwards to make sure that I’m OK and they convey a sense of happiness and a family like care that I really appreciate. They are so concerned and careful about everyone’s health, and are meticulous about visitors checking in, and make certain that everyone who comes there is vetted with a detailed inquiry regarding Covid. All the residents have had their shots, masks are required at all times except while sitting at the table eating, and the staff is always ready with friendly reminders in case someone’s not wearing a mask, and everyone is given a temperature check that is documented every day. I have no worries whatsoever recording regarding the care taken to ensure our health and safety. On top of that, this is a place where goodwill is fostered through activities and spirited care, celebrations, and the comfort of being with wonderful people with many life experiences in a facility that is in its own way grand and very accommodating, from the quality of the housekeeping and the food service to the encouragement of music, which is always in the air in the lobby and game room, with musical events a regular thing, and welcoming of the music provided by talented residents on the beautiful pianos.

They have been remodeling the common areas and furniture and brightening up the atmosphere. The people and helpers are very nice. They now have exercise twice a day Monday - Saturday. They have 2 Pianos, one in the dining room and one in the library. It is nice to hear people play the Piano while the residents are dining. There are often activities and special days for the residents.

My parents have lived here at Cogir Retirement Community for a year and a half. First, I would like to acknowledge the staff because they are who make this community a place you or your loved ones call home. They truly become you family. From Mae who is a ray of sunshine, greeting you at reception to everyone in between including Executive director, Sanjay. Sanjay took the time to help me navigate assisting my mother who has had to be in a rehabilitation facility recovering from hip replacement surgery. I am grateful for how they have gone above and beyond to make sure their residents (family) are taken care of. The spacious apartments: studios, one bedrooms and two bedrooms which are a hard find in senior living. The grounds and amenities out weigh others in the area by far. There is an outdoor courtyard that is so peaceful. They have a large dining room, library with a piano where former residents family even come back to play for everyone to enjoy. This is just one of the testaments of the relationships they build here. Visiting this community in your search for yourself or loved ones is a must.
