I wish I had moved here sooner, that was my mother’s lament after moving to Grand Villa. When she gave up driving in her 90s, Grand Villa was her salvation: independent living, restaurant-style dining, and transportation, all at an affordable price. When her needs changed, she transitioned to assisted living, full assistance, and hospice care without having to leave her apartment. I had to move my 91y/o mom from Georgia to Florida. She was in need of care assistance I could no longer provide. She wanted to go back to Florida to be near her grandkids and great grands. We picked the Grand Villa because it was rents renovated, would let her have all her furniture and more importantly, her aged cat. Being long distance, it was very nerve-racking to make the move and all the details involved. I worked very closely with Jessica Campese She was so awesome. She made the transition smooth and safe for mom and made me feel at ease throughout the whole process. The place is beautiful and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. Mom loves her new home. We couldn’t have made a better choice! I highly recommend the Grand Villa!!

My spouse and I thought we had scheduled tours at several assisted living places through a third-party service on a Saturday. Unfortunately, none of the communities had any record of our appointments. When we walked into Grand Villa, we were warmly greeted by Sharon at the front desk. She was friendly, welcoming, and assured us that Saturday tours are always accommodated. We toured with Jessica, who was knowledgeable, personable, and clearly passionate about what she does. It was obvious that the residents enjoy interacting with her as much as she enjoys helping them. We were impressed from the moment we walked through the doors. It was refreshing to see a modern, updated community rather than a dated facility with old carpet and fixtures like some of the places we had just visited. The apartments were clean, bright, and well-maintained and affordable. The residents and staff we encountered were all friendly and welcoming. We especially liked the movie theater and the overall atmosphere. Grand Villa is currently our top choice for my sister. We highly recommend taking a tour!

24 June 2025 Ahhh. When a piece I write is written in anger, I am blind to all of the wonderful people around me who bring joy and community to this place I called home. Come and visit soon and discover for yourself the Grand Villa in Port Charlotte! Update June 18 2025 - Grand Villa of Port Charlotte was NOT the OWNERS when I originally wrote the review TWO years ago, I visited and subsequently moved in December 2024 to be with my betrothed whom I married in the gazebo January 2025. That’s ALL changed May 1 2025 when the owners came through with a chainsaw and destroyed our family, our home lives. They came with promises and hands out. There is no thought for residents convenience, especially on the original Assisted Living tower. (I understand there is provisional approval for the current independent, living tower is in place. During the first two weeks of the new administration, I saw many families on both the assisted and independent living towers as well as professional movers, come in and take their loved ones somewhere else. Some residents chose to return to their families, their younger children or go out on their own and pick up whatever services they might need in the future. It was my intention to remain here with my beloved for quite a while. Instead, we have resigned from residence council and are moving south to Fort Myers, to a much more suitable place for ourselves and our four leggers. We will miss many of the good friends we made here and, thr Residents back Garden. Original post was shortly post Hurricane Ian late 2022, "Great residents! Food meh. Front desk staff turnover kinda high & only visited 3x."

I wanted to write and thank Truewood (and, importantly, also thestaff) for everything you did to get through Hurricane Ian. My father and I have a lot of experience with hurricane disasters, and we both know that there is a lot more to dealing with the disaster than simply surviving the storm. I'm grateful that the Palms had the foresight to install the new generator, and I know the building was a sound decision for the folks that wanted to shelter in place. Still, the storm surge predictions had me very worried about my father's decision to stay. It was a relief to our entire family that Dad's messages and phone calls included details that showed your planning preparation. Knowing that staff was on hand to help with meals and medical issues was re-assuring beyond simply meeting any needs. It shows the planning and especially, the dedication of the staff in an emergency. I'm certain that some would have preferred to be somewhere (anywhere) else, but they were their with my father. I want everyone their to know that our entire family is grateful for that. Running a facility like Truewood is challenging under the best of circumstances, and I know that I can't imagine all the details of caring for the residents during Ian. I just wanted you to know that the thoughtfulness and courage of the staff there did not go unnoticed. Thank you again

Well no elevator working in almost 2 weeks. I get it takes time to fix but elderly residents who can't walk down 2 nevermind 5 flight of stairs. Great bringing them food. Lunch served and you get dinner 2 hours later. 2000.00 dollars a month for what.Guy on phone today and said could be a month.

I was met by Christina who was smiling, friendly and very knowledgeable. She gave me a tour of the clean facility and introduced me to the friendly staff and residents along the way. My 92-year-old mother has been there for about a week now and couldn't be happier which make my life easier! I highly recommend Truewood By Merrill!
