From all the administration team members, maintenance, nursing and beyond they have offered service with a smile and deliver great follow up! The community is well cared for, just like the residents. I went to see my uncle and I was very impressed by the overall appearance and the smell of the place cause they have a gym and dining area and all the people are so friendly like they have known you all their life. But I feel they need a indoor pool area so they could do water exercise and it would benefit the arthritis and mobility that some of them could be having…even a treadmill in the water with bars would help so much as well…

I never imagined the details necessary in planning for a transition to a senior community. And if it were not for the entire staff of CSL, namely ANDREA P, the team of nurses and care providers, my folks would not have "their best living situation" personalized for them. I'm indebted for the countless texts, emails, guidance, patience and counseling provided at a time that was unexpected and medically challenging. Thank you CSL Eastern Shore.

Nice place. The assisted living care at Commonwealth has provided a home away from for my father in-law. His way of life has improved in the last 18 months at Commonwealth. The care he gets has also been a big help to the family. We could not have given him the same guality of care at home.

It's a lovely place, very clean with welcoming & attentive staff : although the latter is overworked & would benefit from additional colleagues... daily airing out of facilities needed, fresh air ..would be great for all. Were it not for the food, would be 5... As touted as it may be in the literature.. Urgently needs to be improved... sad plates of unidentified meats in brown sauce & brussels sprouts ? Unfortunate same staff situation in dining as above... Thank you to the staff for all they do in challenging situations

Below is a letter I sent to the CEO: Dear Earl, My name is Angela Beatty Anderson and my mom lives at CSL on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. She moved in September 2021 from another community in NC, and from the first day it has been such a wonderful experience!! From the front to the back of the building, absolutely every employee is incredible at what they do! Recently I received a call from CSL at 1 am that mom was unresponsive to their cues an they were letting me know that they had called the paramedics to take her to the ER. My husband & daughter were out of town, so I didn't have my support system there for me. As I sat there waiting for tests to be ran, I got a text from Rae Crumb asking how mom was and wanted to know if I would like for her to come up to sit with me, and bring coffee. Wow! It was 2 am and she was offering to come up an support me like that? I was blown away and in tears, as she was willing to go above an beyond the call of duty. How incredible right? I declined her offer as I had such a peace that all would be ok with mom. I'm beyond thankful that the Lord moved us here if for no other reason than to be a part of the BEST senior home out there, my extended family! I wanted you to hear this wonderful story because I'm sure you don't hear enough of the good ones. Mom is & was fine, so it all ended well. Life can change for any of us in a split second and my family just experienced it personally. My uncle was a fairly active 88 year old gentleman but last Thursday he took a turn none of us saw coming. It has been the hardest three days of our lives! But on Saturday I reached out in desperation to a Director at our Eastern Shore Commonwealth Senior Living Facility and found the comfort of a true angel! It was the weekend and she was off trying to enjoy time out of town with friends but stopped what she was doing to help answer all of my questions and make rapid preparations for caring for my uncle. That very next day the Executive Director came out to the hospital herself to do the Admissions Evaluation to ensure we could get him established in their facility first thing Monday morning. Upon arrival we were greeted with loving, caring, open arms. Every step to admit him was taken care of rapidly and lovingly to make this transition painless for everyone of us. After being here for 5 days I can honestly tell you there is not one single person here that doesn't LOVE their job and their residents! The nurses, caregivers, maintenance workers, dining facility workers, directors, administration, on and on have worked tirelessly to ensure our every need or desire is met with pleasure. Every single person can't do enough for us. Whether it is for the comfort of my aunt, myself or my uncle they go above and beyond to provide whatever we could possible want. His safety and care is at the top of their list. The Director of Nursing brought us personal items from her office to make us comfortable. And sat and talked with my uncle until very late that first evening, with no regard to the fact that she had missed dinner with her family or that it was almost bedtime for most of us. She has spent countless hours working to think of ways to help ease this major transition in our lives and make my uncle the most comfortable possible. She and the Executive Director have not missed a day checking on us personally, sometimes multiple times a day, fulfilling any of our needs with a smile! The facility is lovely, spotlessly clean. The residents are delightful, welcoming and happy. They offer a multitude of activities to appeal to everyone. If you are nearing this point in the life of someone you love, reach out to Kimberley Wilkerson, Rae Crumb or Kristy Annis. I assure you they will answer all of your questions and make everything possible for your family.

I recently moved my mother to Commonwealth on the Eastern Shore. I had been hearing good things about this facility for many years; when I realized that my mom would no longer be safe at home, I called to see if I could visit. The staff welcomed me immediately and then welcomed my mother. They always take time to listen and help with any concern I have. The process of preparing for my mother's move was very stressful, but Kristie and Kim always answered my emails immediately and that helped me have time to focus on my mother as we prepared for her move. She is extremely happy there and felt at home almost immediately. I know my mother is safe and well cared for and that is allowing me time again to enjoy her without the stress of also being her primary care giver. I'm grateful to have this wonderful facility here on the Eastern Shore and for their contentious and caring staff. Every staff member I have met is kind and friendly, stops to say hello, and goes out of their way to provide personalized care to their residents.

There is no way in a few sentences I can express the excellence of this facility. The professionalism of all the staff, their responsiveness to the needs of the residents and their family, the quality of care and concern for the well-being of the residents, and the quality and maintenance of the facility and services is beyond measure. I feel so blessed and at peace having my mother here.

This place is great! Putting my mom in a senior living home was the hardest and best decision that I have ever had to make. After touring the facility and meeting the staff, I knew that she would be taken care of. Kristie Annis made me feel comfortable and confident about my decision. If you are looking for a place for a senior loved one, I would highly recommend this place!

Our mother was coming out of rehab and we were looking for a facility that could provide up to a 30 day respite care. Commonwealth Senior Living was perfect. Mom very much enjoyed her stay. The staff were very attentive, friendly and treated our mother like family. We would highly recommend!!!!!!

Mom has been living here for almost 2 1-2 years now and I continue to be impressed with the care that she receives. A few months ago she unfortunately fell in her independent living room. Throughout the entire process of getting her to the hospital to be evaluated and later helping her become independent and mobile again, I was kept in the loop and never had to wonder what was happening with her even though I lived at the time 3 hours away. Huge shout out to JaLisa who picked up the phone many times to inform me of how mom was doing and also took such wonderful care of her. Always upbeat and caring, JaLisa made me feel absolutely confident that mom was being cared for and gave me such peace of mind. JaLisa truly loves what she does and it is evident how much she cares for the residents there Over the months since, I also want to commend Margaret and Denise for always communicating what is going on with my mom. Dealing with dementia isnt easy especially during the pandemic coupled with the inability to visit with my mom, but these two ladies have been diligent in calling me with any concerns as well as updating me on how my mom is doing. Not only do they care about my mother but several times they have been a gracious and kind voice as they let me process the sad and often frustrating journey of having a loved one with dementia. These two caregivers are truly a bright spot as well. The programming team of Lindsay, Kayla and Vicky continue to make me smile with their frequent posts and pictures of all the activities they engage my mom in. Again, the pandemic has changed things many times over the past almost year yet they continue to seek out, remind and engage my mom in so many daily activities and thoughtfully share with families all that their loved ones are doing. The team also often reaches out to see how I feel that my mom is doing through interactions-conversations I am having with her as well. Finally, Jennifer who you can usually find at the front desk has been a tremendous help as well. From helping us schedule visitation when we were able to see mom during this ongoing pandemic, to helping me with supplies that might be running low when I was either traveling or simply living too far away to check on moms inventory of necessary things, Jennifer has also been a very big help and bright spot on the large team that keeps mom safe and happy and allows me to continue to live my life without having to worry about my mom. Thank you again to all who continue to prove exactly why CSL-ES was the perfect place for mom to be!

A very dear friend with memory deficit has been at Commonwealth Senior Living since it transitioned from the previous owner and the Memory Unit (Sweet Memories) has been established. The establishment of this unit and the thoughtful care by staff educated to work with residents dealing with memory issues has been a tremendous asset. Once again I can visit my friend on the unit, but when visitors were requested not to visit due to the Corona Virus, the staff made sure my friend had access to the telephone to call me and were very responsive when I called to speak with her. The Sweet Memories Unit and Staff have made a difference in caring for residents with memory deficit issues in our area.

After a medical incident and long discussions with Mom and her physician she decided it was the right time to make a move from my home to Commonwealth. My Mom has been at Commonwealth Senior Living for almost 2 years. She is very happy and content there which gives us reassurance daily. She now requires more care and the staff has stepped up to this challenge with respect, kindness and caring. Overall we are very satisfied.

We moved my mom into Sweet Memories just about 3 weeks ago, now. I was impressed with the facility; its clean and modern. Unfortunately, we are unable to visit now due to Corona Virus, but the team there has been great with communication. Theyve shared updates and photos through their Smile Program, so I feel better knowing shes transitioning well. And so far the staff has been great! Theyre responsive and open. Even going so far as to get her a bigger bed so shes more comfortable, and to ordering activity books in her native language to help them communicate better with her. Also, Kristy, the Executive Director, sends regular updates on Covid-19 procedures which is very reassuring. Im pleased with how things are going and I look forward to when Ill be able to see my mom again in person! Thank you CSL for all you do!

My mother has been a Commonwealth Senior Living at the Eastern Shore resident for 3 years. During that time, she has rated the staff and facility multiple times as excellent. They are helpful, competent people who go out of their way to make sure Mom is well taken care of, safe, and included in daily events that are aimed at good physical and mental health. Sweet Memories is their new memory care wing with around the clock staffing and its own dining area, recreation, and kitchen facilities. I strongly recommend a visit to tour the facility and see first hand all they offer. It is a welcoming homey environment for residents and family.

The first time I visited Churchland House, I knew this was where I wanted my 92 year old grandmother to reside. This facility has so much energy from the time you walk through the door and it starts with the staff. The facility is very clean, bright and welcoming. The staff members are professional and treat each resident and family member with respect and dignity. Leaving my grandmother here was the hardest decision I ever made, but I have peace of mind knowing shes well cared for here.
