I used to work at a competing retirement home and North Star was known as the best of the best. The location is right on Riverstone but just enough out of the way that its not too much Hussle and bustle. The staff are long term, and you can tell how much they love their job and the people they work for. The community is spotless, and they really pride themselves on taking care of their residents for as long as possible. i sat with some residents earlier and I have heard NOTHING but praise for the staff and how they run NorthStar. The activities are always a blast, and the food is delicious. No wonder why they have a waitlist! Incredible!

Mom loves it here. She moved in just in time for Covid and the following lockdown, what a bummer, but the staff welcomed her in and took everyones safety very seriously. She loves that she doesn't have to cook anymore and enjoys the food, just make sure you provide your loved ones with plenty of salt n pepper and maybe a little garlic powder 😉 The residents are nice and mom has made a couple of new friends to boot!

When it comes to caring, sharing, and including family members in the overall mental and spiritual well being for our loved ones, no other facility and caring staff members can compete. My parents are each 93 years young, and are loved by neighbors, staff , and administrators equally, creating a very positive and uplifting experience. The staff and administrators have gone above and beyond in protecting the residents in our recent trying times with the pandemic, and I can't be more thankful for their caring persistence in these trying times. I love our North Star community!

This retirement facility is 5 Star. My mother has been there only one month and she is like a "new" person. She loves the apartment, the staff, the food and the other residents. She is the happiest that we as a family have seen her in years. No more seclusion in her own home. I highly recommend this facility for your senior parents.

There is no harder task than finding the right retirement community for your loved one. Fortunately, I found my 92 year old mother the most beautiful retirement community in Coeur d'alene, Idaho, North Star. It is so different from the places I've seen before. It is impeccably clean, the common areas inside are well appointed and welcoming. It has well maintained grounds where the residents can walk around and feel completely safe. The staff is beyond incredible. They know all the resident's names (which is a feat in itself) as well as family members. They are so loving, kind and accommodating. They serve 3 delicious meals a day with several choices for each meal. I have not had the chance to meet the Activity Director, but I am so impressed by the monthly calendar provided to each resident with many activities each and every day. My mother has settled in (it's been 3 months) and is proud to call North Star her home. I am so grateful each and everyday that she has embraced this beautiful facility, staff and residents. Thank you to all the incredible staff at North Star!

North Star is by far the most well-managed, clean, best maintained facility we looked at for my 84 year old father. We started looking at facilities in WA state and Idaho two years ago and then got stuck during COVID. We moved him to North Star at the end of March 2021 and the staff have been wonderful on a daily basis from the beginning - through not one but two move transitions (from independent living to assisted living). My dads memory is failing and the staff on the independent side worked very closely with me to assess and assist him daily so we could then figure out the best care plan and move to support him. I cant say enough about all the wonderful staff! Melanie, Rachel, Melissa, Megan, Kayla, Anita, Noah, Brandon, Scott, Richard, Chef Pat - Im sure Im forgetting someone! Thank you for being so kind, patient, gentle, and going above and beyond to make my dad (and his dog Autumn) feel so welcome and comfortable here at North Star.

North Star is beautifully located just above Riverstone Village in Coeur dAlene. I love when you enter the building it feels like home and the residents are always smiling and happy. The restaurant has a menu of different options to choose from and the servers are very attentive to residents needs. The apartments are spacious, light and bright. Staff are welcoming and caring to all residents and each other. I highly recommend touring North Star for your self.

North Star is wonderful at making you feel welcome and part of the family. Staff is eager to help. My mom was not happy about leaving her long time family home, but Melanie, Megan, Kayla and Alex have all been patient and kind in helping her transition. All who have visited Mom have been impressed with the food, dining room, grounds, facilities and activities. Mom appreciates Skylars attentive service in the dining room and how he knows her name. Maintenance personal were helpful when Mom was moving in and have made sure to introduce themselves. Housekeeping has been understanding, kind and flexible. One night Mom realized she had left her purse in the car and didnt feel comfortable going out in the dark to retrieve it. I was able to make a call and Alex offered to get it for her. That is an example of what gives us peace of mind that Mom is in a great community that cares and is eager to solve problems when we cant be there.

I have worked in the Coeur d' Alene senior care community for seven years and I've been inside every assisted living facility in Kootenai County. As a resort town Coeur d' Alene has become a retirement mecca for many seniors across the western United States. There are many wonderful facilities for seniors to choose from, including NorthStar Retirement Community. NorthStar is unique among assisted living facilities in that the minute you walk in you don't feel like you're in a "typical" retirement facility. Why? Because the residents are active, lively, and engaged with life, not sitting in front of a flat screen TV.And the food they serve their residents is among the best available, and in fact as good if not better than many local restaurants. The facility operates like a restaurant. You can order off the menu anytime of day unlike institutional cooking in other facilities where meals are only available at set times. The Staff of NorthStar are tenured, experienced, compassionate professionals who take pride in the care they provide their residents (who are treated more like family). If you are considering an assisted or independent living facility in Kootenai County, Idaho then I would encourage you to visit NorthStar before you make a decision.

The residents are awesome!! Just not my cup of tea to work their. Staff to resident ratio isnt good they cant keep staff which is why I left. Management says one thing but if you saw behind the scenes their bar is not what they say. I guess for the most part if you want your relatives in an assisted living then this place is better than most.

My mother-in-law and I scheduled an appointment to tour North Star with Melanie. It was a very pleasant experience. She was so gracious and hospitable. We felt so welcome, and were treated with kindness. Melanie gave us a thorough tour of the facility and took her time with us. She supplied us with so much information and encourage us to ask questions. She was very understanding and I was impresses with her patience, and how well she interacts with the residents. We had lunch with Melanie. The food and service in the restaurant was great! I was impressed with the scheduled events, as well as the freedom to live an independent lifestyle. It is like having an apartment attached to a mansion. Every resident I crossed paths with seemed to be very happy and friendly. I hope that my mother-in-law decides to become part of of the North Star family. I would enjoy coming to spend time with her there. It has a great atmosphere and is clean with professional staff. Thanks Melanie for a great experience.

I am an aide that has several customers there and have worked there almost three years.. I have been very impressed with the overall feeling in the building...the openess and the residents seem happy and friendly. The dining room is large and well staffed with waiter and waitresses interacting with the residents. The kitchen offers very good food and there are lots of choices. I also see residents taking their food to their room if they desire. In fact it seems the it is all about serving and treating these individuals well and with respect.
