i love the location and my son selected it because my husband and I would ride our bikes along the ocean trails. It is near the homes of three of my children. My third son’s home burned during the Palisades fires and he was only 15 minutes away. At the time, the management was outstanding and made me feel very comfortable and loved. I originally chose the 8th floor because it looked down over the Santa Monica peer, where I first met my husband and I had a view of the palisades, where I lived. Then my son, moved me down to the third floor because I got a better price and I am very happy there. I am proud to be one of Ocean House’s ambassadors. Which means that I try to meet every new person that comes in and I sit with them for meals, get to know them, and I introduce them to other residents who have similar interests. I like to go out of my way to encourage and escort new residents to participate in monthly meetings such as Chef Chat, Town Hall, and Resident Council. I also go their apartments to invite them to join the New Resident Orientations. I have made treasured friends during my five years here. The servers are outstanding and those who help us at the front desk are exceptional! With the hiring of the current Activities Manager Sandra, the level of entertainment, the choices of things we can do and the level of love and kindness is exceptional as Is her assistant Sarah!

Brookdale Ocean house probably has the best location in the United States. It’s on the beach very close to the Santa Monica pier.It’s a short walking distance to the sand, less than a minute walk to the sand. The views are wonderful and you could not want to be at a better place. I need a minimum of care, but the caregivers here have been terrific! There’s entertainment here at least once a week, including singers, dancers, and pianist that everybody seems to like. of course, there are always problems at places, but the executive Director here now is very responsive and every time I’ve asked her to do anything or fix anything. She’s taking care of it for me. The staff members here are terrific, to mention a few:Rose at the front desk and Danai at the desk, Bri the dining room, Sandra for activities, are all outstanding and work very hard to make the place pleasant for all of us.

They pride themselves in providing excellent care and it definitely shows! I have had the pleasure of performing piano concerts at the wonderful OCEANHOUSE in Santa Monica, CA - each month for quite a few years. The view is spectacular as the property sits right on the beach. Palm tress, & the Pacific Ocean views from the ground floor dining room, all the way up the 10 flights - for those lucky enough to have an ocean view room. The staff are professional and accommodating, and the residents are simply lovely. They have alway been very gracious to me. I appreciate them very much. The facility sells itself because it is across the street from the pacific ocean. I was impressed by the dining room, which also was a view of the beach and the ocean. The food is delicious, the activities are plentiful and creative. There are lots of entertainment.The rooms are well insulated and you can't hear your neighbors. The staff is very polite and professional

Brookdale Ocean House is the only place I have experienced community living. I love living right across from the ocean with my own private balcony. I enjoy living with my two cats. I think there should be a staff member available for any mental problems such as recent loss of family. There should be guided walks outside for those of us who need walkers, canes or wheelchairs - or even those without balance problems who just like the company of others, Weekly excursions to museums and other interesting places, once available, should be reinstated. being of fairly good health, I think Brookdale Ocean House is an excellent place for me since I have recently lost my beloved husband of sixty-five years.

TLDR: this place is amazing. I can’t thank Brookdale Ocean House enough. The staff gave my mom the warmest welcome. Not only did Brookdale ensure that she was going to be well taken care of, they provided guidance for a smooth transition. I have so many good things to say about Brookdale that I don’t know where to start so I’ll go from the top. My mom was discharged from the hospital and needed a more suitable living arrangement, quite frankly urgently. Brookdale handled the assessment timely, working swiftly to make sure Ocean House was the right place for my mom. Rafi, Joshua, & Amanda were so helpful. They were clear in what documentation we needed. I was impressed that instead of constant emails back and forth with numerous forms flying all directions, they had all that we needed in one convenient packet. Included in the packet was a document to guide through the forms. Upon arrival, they put out the red carpet (literally) in front of my mom’s door. This not only made my mom feel special but helped orient her over the next 24hours as to which door was hers. After my mom got situated, they explained how everything worked, how the meals would be provided, etc. Speaking of the meals, I had the opportunity to taste the food. Chef Joe does a great job at executing delicious and healthy food. My mom got her appetite back & now looks forward to meals. There are activities every day with full range of passive to active events which my mom is encouraged to, and does participate in. Currently movie night is my mom’s favorite. As a bonus, the location and view is pretty spectacular. The wellness department is on top of it. They check up on my mom, make sure her blood pressure is good, and help manage medication. Prior to coming to Brookdale my mom was independent, driving to the gym, bathing herself, using her cell phone, etc. My mom’s needs have changed and Brookdale provided a bridge for my mom from completely living on her own to living by herself but with extra tools and safe environment. The staff at Brookdale helped (and continues to help) my mom, dad, brother, & I get through what’s been probably one of the most stressful situations I’ve been in. It sucks to see a parent, or any loved one get frustrated from the drawbacks of aging. It also sucks if you live farther away, & the natural guilt felt when we can’t be close to our loved ones but whether it’s towards helping my mom recover or adapt to new limitations, Brookdale has provided comfort, support, empathy, & solutions.

Brookdale Ocean House has been a fantastic location for our family member who needs assistance but can still live mostly independently. The facility is clean and cheerful and the management and staff have gone the extra mile to make sure we have everything taken care of. The location is of course a big part of the appeal - and it is wonderful to be able to take walks on the beach and around Santa Monica right out the front door. Overall I would highly recommend Ocean House!

My Mother enjoyed her time at Ocean House and found the other residents to be very interesting and compatible. The staff was uniformly kind and attentive. The ocean views were a constant pleasure. My mother was involved in many of the activites set up by Ocean House, especially outings, and also formed her own groups to play bridge and paint. Most important she felt safe and secure, and often invited family to visit.

After years of trying to get out mom to move from her home town of 75 years, Tulsa, we finally convinced her. Once she toured the beautiful Brookdale Ocean House in Santa Monica. She lived happily there for almost 4 years. I am writing this today because Momma recently and peacefully passed there, 4 days shy of 97. Brookdale is not only beautiful, with lovely entertainment, excellent food, and the best view in town. But it is a community of truly the most genuinely caring staff members that keep a watchful and loving eye out on their residents. The few days before she passed, there was a steady stream of both residents and staff members stopping by to hold her hand, tell us the most amazing stories, and doting on us for anything we might need while we sat bedside. Tom, the manager, was also instrumental in gently guiding us with the end of life decision when Hospice was repeatedly unavailable. We will forever be grateful for their 4 years of extraordinary care and will never forget how their genuine love for our mom gave us so much peace. Right up until the end. We plan to continue to visit our friends there and could not recommend this community more!

I am a Los Angeles resident who moved my father to Brookdale Ocean House in June 2021. The most striking aspect of Ocean House is it's location, literally as close as a residence can be to Santa Monica beach. The views from the common areas on the tenth floor are spectacular, from Malibu to the Palisades Highlands and Catalina Island, too. If the building was private, the views would put it into the multi-million per apartment cost. My father has a second floor, one bedroom unit with trees and the next door apartment building out his windows, yet his balcony has views of the beach and ocean. The dining area on the first floor is sunny behind large windows with beach views. The food is par for this sort of residence, neither great nor bad, and one can order off menu if desired. My father likes the food and has no problem filling up on it. The assistance care offered here is good-- ala carte in independent living and packaged in assisted living. The staff here addresses his concerns in a timely and appropriate manner. Modifications to his unit were done at his request at no charge. There is a small parking lot in the back of the building with a few spots for visitors and there is a giant beach lot across the street. Parking can be an issue on summer weekends. There are plenty of great (and pricey) restaurants in walking distance. There is a ride service for the residents, but it needs to be reserved and is only during normal business hours on weekdays. Primarily it works for small errands and doctor appointments. Because of the pandemic most outside excursions are on hold (there are walks however) but there are still activities in the building. My father gained an immediate social life by knowing how to play Bridge. At two months in my dad is overall happy with his experience at Ocean House and I am also.

Can't say enough about this place . During such uncertain and scary times it was very difficult to find an assistant living for my elderly aunt . With Covid isolation became our biggest concern . So we began to search for the perfect fit for her new home . 3 months ago we found Brookdale after an exhausting search we feel in love with this property the views are obviously a given but the staff made it a no brainer . From the sales team to now the care staff we couldn't imagine a better home for her . She is treated like family . A very short 3 months ago I never imagined her being social again but she is the happiest she has been in a very long time . I can't thank the staff here enough my family and I are so grateful for your work , compassion and patience. You have become part of our family and we are eternally grateful. For anyone looking for a safe place I would most definitely recommend Brookdale
