All the staff were very nice when I visited my family member.The nurses on 1st & 2nd shift are genuinely concerned with the health & safety of the residents. The reason why I gave this facility 2 stars is because the staff that work in the office are MIA alot, and trying to get a phone call back from the Executive Director is almost impossible. She apparently has too much on her plate. When you need to speak to her, she is either in a meeting or on a conference call. It is very frustrating to leave a voicemail & and have to repeatedly call back when you have an issue that is urgent and don't get a response back until days later.

My Dad was a Hospice resident at Brookdale South Bay for 7 months. He was completely independent at home until November 2021when he suffered a stroke necessitating placement in a long term care facility. He received excellent care until his passing in July 2022. The entire nursing and activity staff made him feel loved and welcomed. The staff was quick to notify me of any change to his plan of care, no matter how minor. As a retired Director of Nursing from New York, I am well aware of the challenges encountered in running a health care facility, and trust me, they are enormous. I could not possibly acknowledge all of the wonderful people who made my Dads final days happy, and at times joyful. They were amazing. My Dad’s own words to me said it all, “I have made a lot of nice friends here”. I miss my Dad terribly but have a sense of peace knowing that in his final days he was surrounded with love and comfort.

My mother arrived at Brookdale two days ago. The employees are the most extraordinarily generous group of people I have ever met. From the world-class chef, to the directors of admissions, wellness, activities and even maintenance, they could not be more responsive and helpful. The deep commitment to their residents is obvious in every thing they do.

We feel lucky to have found Brookdale. We don't have to worry about shopping and preparing food, cleaning, utility bills, etc. Our life here is like living in a very friendly and cruise ship (but on land). There are lots of activities and we don't feel pressured to engage if we just want to relax in our apartment. Our friends and family who have visited are now also interested in moving to Brookdale when the time is right. One of the best decisions we've made in our life. We HIGHLY recommend it.

My Dad is so happy to be a part of this community of loving and caring staff at Brookdale South Bay! They are attentive, kind and caring individuals who go above and beyond to make him feel so loved and cared for. During a recent extended hospital/rehab stay, they coordinated a zoom call with the other residents, sent him a huge card signed by everyone and several staff have reached out to me numerous times to get updates on how he is doing. They love him so much and show it in so many ways and this makes me feel wonderful, too! We couldn't be happier that we chose Brookdale South Bay for my Dad to enjoy this special stage of his life.

Greatest Place I have ever worked. The Residents are amazingly resilient, caring, full of love and personality. The residents receive the BEST Care here because of the Amazing (literally) Positive Culture that surrounds the entire place.....and it all start with the Staff's attitude towards their affection, loyalty Care and love of the residents that live here. I would NOT trade working here for anything. Come here to live, visit or work and you will see what I mean.

The staff work hard here to make things come together. They can use some work on getting the food to you that you order. Other than that I have had no problems with anything. The community is clean and so is my room.

We recently moved my mother-in-law into Brookdale. The staff are kind and responsive. The rooms are clean and accessible for a variety of people with movement challenges. The nursing staff are solicitous and ready to assist as required. I really did not expect to find such a great place so close to where I live, and I am thrilled they had an opening and my mother-in-law could move in.

Our experience at South Bay has been a wonderful change from the previous facility in New York. My father was welcomed and treated respectfully from the day we arrived. His health and well being improved in less than one months time and it has continued to get better each and every day. The entire staff is familiar, friendly and caring with my fathers needs, as well as any concerns I have requested. The doctors are informed and communicate my fathers health updates consistently to me and I always feel confident that he is their primary concern. This November my dad turns 97 and his life has been filled with joy, happiness and good health. I expect and cant wait to celebrate his 98th birthday next year. Our Mom has been at Brookdale South Bay for almost 5 years. We know she is SAFE, BUSY and HAPPY. Activities Director CHRIS SHEIL and driver RANDY PIERSON provide such wonderful opportunities for the residents...Mystery Rides, Coffee by the Sea, dinners and lunches in nearby restaurants, wine and cheese party on the bus (one of my favorites), cultural activities, parties, exercise classes, discussion groups, crafts...the list goes on and on! Personalized interaction from the STAFF is wonderful.
