Looking for a place for your loved one is a daunting task everything feels scary for the family, who has to trust that they are doing the right thing for their loved one. I have toured a couple of senior living communities for my grand parents but this one was particularly special. It’s further from home, but it’s more aligned with the vibe that my grandparents need. Jennell was so sweet and kind, and she felt genuine and nice. When we make the decision to place them, it will be here.

The assisted living is a hidden gem in South County. It has assisted living. It also has a specialized unit that provides 24 hour nursing care. And over 30 years of working in healthcare, this building truly is dedicated and has amazing staff. They treat their residence with respect and kindness. I had a family member there that lived in the assisted living for years and died in the nursing center that they have. I can say we had an amazing experience with them. Still today I would recommend them for anybody looking for senior care. Truly is an incredible building. They have very experienced staff with a lot of knowledge and tenure.

Brookdale South Bay is a safe environment. It has provided the services that I need for this time in my life. I appreciate the staff's concern and compassion.

All the staff were very nice when I visited my family member.The nurses on 1st & 2nd shift are genuinely concerned with the health & safety of the residents. The reason why I gave this facility 2 stars is because the staff that work in the office are MIA alot, and trying to get a phone call back from the Executive Director is almost impossible. She apparently has too much on her plate. When you need to speak to her, she is either in a meeting or on a conference call. It is very frustrating to leave a voicemail & and have to repeatedly call back when you have an issue that is urgent and don't get a response back until days later.

My Dad was a Hospice resident at Brookdale South Bay for 7 months. He was completely independent at home until November 2021when he suffered a stroke necessitating placement in a long term care facility. He received excellent care until his passing in July 2022. The entire nursing and activity staff made him feel loved and welcomed. The staff was quick to notify me of any change to his plan of care, no matter how minor. As a retired Director of Nursing from New York, I am well aware of the challenges encountered in running a health care facility, and trust me, they are enormous. I could not possibly acknowledge all of the wonderful people who made my Dads final days happy, and at times joyful. They were amazing. My Dad’s own words to me said it all, I have made a lot of nice friends here. I miss my Dad terribly but have a sense of peace knowing that in his final days he was surrounded with love and comfort.

My Dad is so happy to be a part of this community of loving and caring staff at Brookdale South Bay! They are attentive, kind and caring individuals who go above and beyond to make him feel so loved and cared for. During a recent extended hospital/rehab stay, they coordinated a zoom call with the other residents, sent him a huge card signed by everyone and several staff have reached out to me numerous times to get updates on how he is doing. They love him so much and show it in so many ways and this makes me feel wonderful, too! We couldn't be happier that we chose Brookdale South Bay for my Dad to enjoy this special stage of his life.

We feel lucky to have found Brookdale. We don't have to worry about shopping and preparing food, cleaning, utility bills, etc. Our life here is like living in a very friendly and cruise ship (but on land). There are lots of activities and we don't feel pressured to engage if we just want to relax in our apartment. Our friends and family who have visited are now also interested in moving to Brookdale when the time is right. One of the best decisions we've made in our life. We HIGHLY recommend it.
