It's so uncool of people to leave bad reviews for a specific location when they (or a loved one) hasn't lived there. (No location controls their HQ corporate marketing spam.) And I hate that it brings down their score because this Brookdale location is AMAZING. Both my parents have lived here for 2 years and I'm way overdue to share with others what a great experience it's been. Brookdale River Valley is FULL of hard-working, compassionate, smart, friendly, lovely people. We actually came from a Bonaventure facility that was horribly shady about costs; they deliberately lied about what our base costs would be. Here, the service costs are included in the contract paperwork. My dad has dementia, so the costs continue to go up, but at every step over the last two years I've agreed with them, and almost always learned from them. The care director (Amanda) and nurse (Julia)”who I have worked with the most and are always completely up-to-date on what is happening with both parents”have helped guide me on what to expect and how best to address especially my dad's evolving needs, both physical and emotional. And it's not just management; everyone is engaged: from Kim and Jeannie at the front desk, to the med techs like Jonathan, Mary and Dakota (and more - I'm blanking on more names I should remember!), and the care staff like Kate and...(Arg! I'm going to have to come back and add more names). I've noticed a lot of faces stay the same. Even the dining hall staff like Angel are friendly and professional. Brookdale has lots of interesting events and entertainments, music every week, which I think is common. But I think the residents are particularly social and community minded. (At their first place, people would be interested in anything happening, but not necessarily participate.) I am SO THANKFUL that my parents are so happy here and well cared for. I was first drawn to it for the setting/location (it's on a beautiful wetlands) but its biggest asset is the huge team of people it takes to keep the place running. THANK YOU!

Brookdale is a wonderful community that is clean, caring, encouraging. They always greet everyone with a smile, always make you feel welcomed. If there is something wrong they contact the family, this is the best place we found for our family member.

I couldn't be happier with how my Mom is doing since she moved in. She was apprehensive about the move but she's settling in, making friends and enjoying her new apartment. I am so happy with the professionalism of each and every employee at Brookdale. We are always greeted with a smile and happy greeting from the moment we enter the door. It's a HUGE difference for us as well as for Mom. She is loving the care including the meals in the cafeteria with her new friends, the housekeeping and the laundry. Thank you all for everything you do.

The memory care unit at Brookdale River Valley is wonderful. We had a very hard transition for my mom who was living independently before moving to memory care, but after a few months she's totally used to the place and loves it! She's gained weight, gets mental stimulation and has developed great relationships with the caregivers. She loves to tell people about how many friends she has now. Shout out to Michael, Sky, Marissa, Jenny, and all the care givers for the wonderful care they give. My mom is playing games and doing artwork which she would have never done before moving in. She's a whole new person. I do wish the food was better as it's the one thing my mom does not like at the facility, but other than that it's the best decision we ever made.

Brookdale river valley tualatin memory care has the most phenomenal and hard-working caregivers. The activities are awesome, everyone working there works amazingly together and it's great to watch every time I go visit my grandma.

01-26-23 RE: Review of Brookdale Senior Living Tualatin, OR Placing a loved one into an assisted living/memory care facility can be one of the scariest things for any family to endure. It can be filled with apprehension, fear, guilt, and downright uncertainty of the outcome. The following is a glimpse into our experience with the facility and staff at Brookdale senior community in Tualatin, OR in hopes that it may help others with the transition of their family member. We had our “Sister” on a waiting list for several months with the State of Oregon for an assisted living apartment (3200 people were also on that list), due to her worsening dementia. We had almost given up when I received a call from Shawna (sales manager) at Brookdale Tualatin stating that an apartment was available (Mid November 2022). We arrived with boxes in hand to a friendly Reception staff (Kim & Jean) ready to help us in any way they could. And help they did. In less than 2 hours, the move in paperwork was completed and we were onto getting things moved in. They had carts and a maintenance staff to help with any need we had. We were introduced to the complex in the middle of a massive renovation. We were apprehensive until we saw the renderings of what it would look like after completion. In the days that followed, we met with Blair Resare (office manager) who explained all of the complicated state “Red tape” in a way that we could understand. I was really impressed with Beth Mueller (Executive Director of the complex) when she reached out to us. She introduced herself and explained her “open door policy”. Should we ever need anything or have concerns, her door is always open. We were offered to try the food ourselves and we were impressed on how good it was. We are over there to visit 3-4 times a week, and it has always been the same friendly staff every time. “Sisters” medicine is given to her 3 times a day by Kikki and the other MedTechs, food is served 3 timed a day in a restaurant style dining room, and the cleaning staff takes care of her room weekly. My biggest advise to a family is to LET THEM DO THEIR JOBS! We were constantly hovering, because of concerns whether “Sister” would adapt to living there. One night, early on, “Sister” was having an awfully bad night. Her dementia had her confused and not sure of her surroundings at 1:00am! A special shout out to Damion who walked with her for almost 2 hours until she calmed down and went to sleep. Way above and beyond! Our “Sister” is shy around new things and new people. Jasmine Riccardi (Programs Coordinator) went out of her way to get “Sister” introduced to other residents and, to my surprise, participate in group activities! It has been 2 ½ months now, and the renovations are almost completed. The place boasts new paint, carpet, tile, pictures, and all new furniture. Place is absolutely beautiful! I recommend a tour for anyone in a similar situation as we were. “Sister” has acclimated to her place better than we could have ever hoped for. She constantly tells us how great the food was that day and that she has to get off the phone because her friends are waiting for her. That alone should be the most accurate review given! Moving my mom to memory care was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life. I can say, without question, had it not been for the amazing staff members and nursing team at Brookdale River Valley, I would not have been able to handle her transition. I have noticed an unbelievable change in my mom's quality of life and have witnessed countless acts of love from all of her caregivers and the nursing staff. My heart goes out to them each one of them every single day for going above and beyond for my mom. I get to witness the magic every day and I am so grateful for all this community has done.
