I am an independent-living resident at Brookdale Brookhurst for almost 2 years. I have been very happy here. I get help with laundry and housekeeping. Food is good, 3 meals a day. I enjoy exercise classes, craft projects, and outings. What I love best is the friendly atmosphere here. I highly recommend this facility for all seniors, whether you need just a little help, or more assistance.

November 2023: Under the VERY capable direction of Brookdale's Executive Director, Mr. John Goodwin, Brookdale Westminster thrives more than ever before! Mr. Goodwin came on board earlier this year. He is very clear about staying on at Brookdale indefinitely, which is such good news for everyone! Upon his arrival, Mr. Goodwin immediately set plans in motion to make repairs to Brookdale's aging facility without disrupting the residents. It is an ongoing process that will benefit everyone. Each week, the family members receive a Newsletter from Mr. Goodwin, detailing all that is currently happening and available to the residents. He also provides a few "words of wisdom" that are very encouraging to lift up ourselves and each other. He has made it his mission to ensure that ALL residents, staff, family members, and professionals are fully supported in each of their personal endeavors. His transparency and availability to the residents, staff, family members, professionals visiting residents is so appreciated. It is SO encouraging to hear various staff members speak well of Mr. Goodwin and feel so good about his commitment to them and the residents! Our mother has now been at Brookdale for nearly EIGHT YEARS! Her financial resources are becoming more limited, necessitating a change to a more cost effective smaller apartment at Brookdale. This is NOT an easy adjustment for her. However, Mr. Goodwin and his very caring staff are going all out to help our mother make this transition. This is simply how they do business at Brookdale for EVERY resident, whether they are just moving in to Brookdale or like our mother, needing to adjust their existing living arrangement. We are still profoundly appreciative of ALL the staff members for their ongoing efforts on our mother's behalf and assistance to us all these many years. Many of those staff members have been there longer than our mom, reflecting their commitment and desire to be part of a community fully invested in quality care for its residents and each other. Suffice it to say, from the first welcoming interaction with the front desk personnel, to briefly meeting with Mr. Goodwin when he is available, to receiving updates from various staff members as to how our mother is doing, we are absolutely assured that everything is being done on our mother's behalf to make her feel safe and well cared for. Our convictions remain the same: it is unlikely our mother/residents would receive such fine care anywhere other than Brookdale Westminster! We are SO grateful that she can stay on at Brookdale for the time being!

My mom is 81 years old. She has been experiencing severe short term memory loss since a small stroke two years ago. She was living quite well independently prior to this, several years after the passing of our father. Myself and my two sisters are in our fifties, and though living relatively close by, we need to work full-time. Our mom could not remember to take her medications, bathe or eat regularly, and was not completely stable in walking short distances. Finding Brookdale Brookhurst was a godsend. I teach just down the street and can visit her daily on my way home from work. She was kind of a recluse living alone, but with her wonderful roommate she has constant companionship; the caring and nurturing staff make sure she gets her daily meds, and the dining room serves delicious (I've eaten there!) and nutritious meals 3x a day. This all reassures me that my mom is getting proper nutrition, has appropriate interaction with others daily, and she is safe and well-cared for when I cannot be there. They will work with you to find the best financial solutions possible, because of course this level of care is not inexpensive- but it is well worth the peace of mind my sisters and I have been given moving our mom here. The residence has been recently renovated and is a pleasant and comfortable place to live. I couldn't be more pleased.

We moved my mother-in-law in this past spring. She has been very happy. When my mother saw it, she wanted to move in also. Just finished getting her settled. Staff is exceptionally helpful and made the transition for both moms a positive experience. Five stars isn't enough.

My mother is a newer resident here. Before she came to Brookdale Brookhurst, she lived alone with a part-time caregiver. She is much happier now that she is with her new friends and amazing 24/7 staff at Brookdale Brookhurst. The staff sincerely care for their residents - they are attentive, kind and professional. I can rest assure that my mom is being take care of by the staff with her daily medicines, meals, good hygiene and fun activities. Brookdale Brookhurst is truly a gem for assisted living facilities in Orange County.
