Darrin is a gift! His positive attitude and actions are evident with his willingness to help all the residents. I was on an outing yesterday and his careful ministration of the residents that needed extra help was gratifying to see. In today’s society it is truly wonderful to meet a good human. Darren, Our Driver & Ann, Activities are assets to Brookdale. They have each gone out of their way to help me and others. The willingness and sincerity are evident. It makes life easier for me. The food has not improved. My Mom has a problem with some beetles and maintenance hasn't done anything about it. Rents are high here and the experience has deteriorated.

This place has seen a marked decline in services and amenities since Ciel took over operations. Residents no longer receive menus in advance, food quality is inconsistent , no managers work on weekends, activity schedules are not printed , front desk staff is unable to answer questions and Executive director does not return calls or emails.

My mom made great friends while she was a resident in memory care (Crossings). She had really good care there and was very comfortable. Definitely the brightest light there came from Jenniffer, the health and wellness coordinator. She had a magic touch with all of the residents, and they all loved her, especially my mother. All of the activities she coordinated were done with a constant smile and laughter. For my mom's birthday, she helped me throw a party. She made sure that all the residents had a great time complete with music, and dancing and singing. She helped me decorate and even made a fruit punch. She made it a real party and made my mom feel very special. Both me and my mom miss her very much!

My mom was in the Crossings Memory Care. The Activity program was Five Stars! Jenniffer the Activity Director is the best! She has an energetic personality and the residents love her. Jenniffer would always get my mom involved in group activities, plus had personal activities to bring out the best in my mom. Her hard work and dedication are evident to making Activities an excellent program.

My husband and i have really enjoyed going to meals in the dining room and having Gabby and Abigail serve us. Gabby is very sincere and compassionate and extremely helpful. My husbands grandpa has been here for a couple of years now and he’s thriving and doing wonderful. Great piece of mind knowing he has people looking over him while he still continues to live independently.

My parents stayed here and the staff is warm, helpful, and always willing to help. My parents loved the activities, the social times, and the ambience the vegetation gives. The path by the river was quite enjoyable for my parents who used to be very outdoorsy. I would definitely recommend.

We were extremely diligent in our evaluation of Assisted Living locations in making our decision having visited 9 other communities before choosing Brookdale Vernon Hills. Many factors were at play. Foremost, because of our family member's social personality, we liked that assisted and independent living residents are integrated in the dining room and all social events. The dining room can cut foods and butter bread before a meal is presented at the table to afford dignity to our family member who has partial paralysis due to a stroke. The apartment has a large bathroom which is an important feature for daily living. Medications are managed by the contracted pharmacy and passed by the nursing staff. The variety of well-appointed public spaces outside the primary apartment was another draw for when family members visit and gather.

My wife has been here for over two years. She is on the first floor. I visit often. Her television will not work and hasn’t t for two weeks. I’ve asked four times for someone to come in and fix it. If it cannot be done please tell me. If I need a new television I’ll get one. If I need to get a technician in here to do the work tell me and I will get one. We pay $10930 per month. My mom lived at Brookdale, in Vernon Hills for a year and a half. She was in memory care on the first floor. The staff cared about my mom and really tried to engage her. I knew that she was safe and well taken care of.

BEWARE! People are moving out in droves! The food is alright, usually cold. On Sundays, they have a sandwich in a box without it being wrapped in anything and some cut up vegetables. The bread is usually hard by the time the residents receive it and many throw it in the trash. You have to pay extra to take anything back to your room. They want an extra check every year for $188 to give the workers a tip. The workers don't stay very long and the activities are always paused! My mom just moved out of here and several other people also. It was a nice place when she first moved here but has went downhill quickly.

My mom was in Brookdale for over six years, first in Northbrook, and then when she needed memory care, she moved to Vernon Hills. It was an overwhelmingly positive experience - first, when she was fully "together," she enjoyed all of the activities, the food, the accommodations, etc. Everyone was wonderful. Then, as she progressed to memory care, and her experience became different, I found a whole new group of incredibly caring, capable staff. I would highly recommend Brookdale facilities to anyone; these two in particular.

If you want a home away from home that you have lived in for years, meet the folks at Brookdale's Vernon Hills. We are actually an island in the middle of major shopping centers, restaurants and entertainment facilities. Add to that are forest preserves as far as your eyes can see. The circle around our island includes commercial park like business settings. We have ponds & a river (if you want to go fishing.) Forest preserves trails to go walking plus medical facilities. There's even more around our island, . Now the building's itself? Come in to the largest indoor Residential Rain Forest with well over a thousand plants and trees in the middle of the United States. Live in a building chock full of people from all walks of life, persuasions, races. We have people from many countries that you can meet and learn about customs and life in their native country and now all Americans. Mix, dine & even dance. Go swimming all year round, just relax. We have for you apartments to meet your maximin to minimum sizes within limits . Add this to apartments not in the forest but with all that is available including the forest, gym, etc. Among many important things are the caring of the staff for everybody from normal aging, rehab to dementia and even you will find your neighbors caring about each other. Too many activities to list. Where can you find a better place to call home like the home you are now living in.

My wife and I moved to Brookdale a few months ago and we love it here. The apartment is very comfortable but we especially like the activities. The food is excellent and we look forward to the meals.

I love living here. The physical facility is beautiful. There are highly varied, quality activities all day long. I find opportunities to laugh and have fun every day. The staff is dedicated and capable. I can tell that they are really invested in helping provide the best quality life possible here. I have not been lonely one day since I moved here over a year ago. Also, my children are thrilled that I am living this well at this time of my life.

2 weeks ago, my wife and I moved her parents into Brookdale Vernon Hills and always with this type of experience we kept asking ourselves, are we doing the right thing? I can now say, we are both so happy with our decision as there is no place that have a staff and team of people that could be more caring or helpful. The complex is modern and up to date, exceptionally clean, and loaded with staff who are always there for my in laws! I would highly recommend Brookdale for anyone needing health care assistance. Congratulations to the management team of Brookdale for the fantastic job they and their entire team do not only for their residents, but also for the residents families.

Love this Place! We had to move my grandma during the pandemic and they were so accommodating and have taken such great care of her. She recently received her vaccine through the facility and is looking forward to things opening more and being able to eat in the beautiful dining room. She says the food is fantastic and they are always willing to accommodate her needs! My family is very happy we chose Brookdale. And did I mention how beautiful it is there. The indoor rainforest sold us. My grandma is in assisted living.

I moved into Brookdale Vernon Hills in 2014. My favorite thing about living here is the staff. From the dining room to the custodial staff, maintenance, front desk - really, all of the staff - there is always someone with a friendly face to help you. Seniors are not an easy population to work with, and I'm blessed to have such lovely people working in my home.
