As a nurse practitioner providing care to residents at Rancho Penasquitos Senior Living, I can confidently say that this community exemplifies excellence in assisted living and memory care. Their team is dedicated, highly professional, and deeply compassionate in the care and services they provide. The staff and leadership demonstrate extensive experience in managing both chronic and acute medical conditions, and they consistently ensure that appropriate outside resources are involved when needed. Their communication and collaboration with families are outstanding, fostering a strong sense of trust and confidence. What truly stands out is their proactive approach to resident care. They are highly attuned to the evolving needs of their population and respond thoughtfully to the challenges that arise. In the memory care unit especially, the staff are exceptionally skilled in supporting individuals with dementia, mental health conditions, and other cognitive impairments. A family members lived in Menory Care only a few months. The care is not the level promised. Residents are left alone for long periods in common areas unexplained brusing/ injuries happen. Medication mistakes are common and Loved one had medication left on room, given someone else's meds and missed many doses which most likely attributed to their current health problems. There is low staff to resident ratio with care staff not trained to work with Dementia residents. Some care staff do n I t speak English and I was told I would need a translator to speak to one. For all these reasons I cannot recommend tgis place. If you love your loved one, do yourself a favor and do not I t place them here. Thete place will cause you undo stress and anxiety due to horrible care.

I have a family member who has been residing at this facility for more than three years now. Each time I visit, I find the facility clean, bright, seasonally decorated, and lots of activities. Besides all of this, the saff is wonderful. I have witnessed genuine care and compassion from several of the nurses. I especially want to recognize Christina, the Director of Memory Care, for her upbeat attitude and ability to interact professionally with residents, other staff, and families. She has the kind of knowledge that you gain from first hand experience. She is excellent with her staff and leafs by example. She is always welcoming and kind. Her care and compassion for my family has been above and beyond.

5 stars, My dad has been here for 2.5 years, and I’ve been very happy with the staff at, Rancho Penasquitos. They are very caring, friendly, kind people who take their jobs seriously. The facility is clean, affordable, and they offer activities throughout the day to appeal to to a wide range of interests. They typically offer three outings a week, so that residence can do some light shopping, go out to lunch, or take a scenic drive. The food is good, and the menu is flexible so that residents have choices. My dad is getting more exercise, socialization, and mental activities to keep him engaged throughout the day. The med techs are very professional and work hard! The caregivers look after the residents and keep them safe and also are hard workers! The place is run well, and the administration is responsive! I’ve really appreciated the heart and care that Heather and Christina bring to their jobs. The activity directors are also amazing. This facility has a family feel and the workers make it cheery and bright for every holiday!We are so thankful to the staff for all that they do!

My mother recently passed and she spent her final days at Pacifica Rancho Penasquitos. Mom had been in a total of 4 facilities over the years for complicated reasons, so we do have a basis for comparison. It's worth noting that if your parent lives in a facility like this over a course of years, you will have some bad, strange, unsettling, or difficult situations crop up at some points along the way - just like life outside of assisted living facilities. There are always compromises on the level of luxury and quality of food and what you can afford at the end of the day, etc., but once you've figured all of that out, I'd say that Pacifica RP is actually a terrific value for the dollar spent in terms of quality of facilities, etc. But none of that matters all that much in the end. In the end, what counts is the kindness and generosity of the staff. The Caregivers at these facilities face all kinds of situations throughout the day that are complicated, challenging, and frustrating. My understanding is that they don't get paid like tech executives either. So given our experience across multiple facilities, what obviously matters is the culture set by the director, how they hire, how they train and supervise, etc. Hiring on compassion and kindness while also getting everything done on budge cannot be easy. This is, as I mentioned, hard work. So I just find myself incredibly grateful for Wes and his staff. The care givers here are relentlessly kind and patient. They actually care, and I suppose, to do this work day in and out for modest pay, caring is the only thing that can really work. You contact a community like this because you know you can't be there for your parent every day. So on those days in between, when you can't be there, it's a very special gift to know that your loved one is surrounded by so much kindness.

Shane, Christina, Kimberly, Amarina, Yesenia, Lauren, Mathew, Bentley, Luis, Alberto, Rufina, Elenita, Elsabeth, Aurelio and many others are always in a good mood; Its quite uplifting! My Dad moved to their Memory Care, and the entire staff are so kind, and such a great help to my Father. The whole team at Pacifica RP are friendly, caring and very good at their job. We want to thank the staff at Atria for the incredible care, activities and sense of community. During COVID we had the difficult decision to find an assisted living community for our mom. Catt and the entire Atria team made us comfortable with the appropriate level of safety protocols, while still allowing residents to socialize. She has transitioned really well, made friends and enjoys the daily activities. She couldn't be more happy with Atria and seeing her happy really gives us comfort in our choice. Mom is doing so much better here! The kind, caring, professional folks at Atria Rancho Penasquitos have improved her life in so many ways. She’s eating better & putting on much-needed weight--is it the Scottish chef and/or the attentive & encouraging staff? .She’s taking part in almost every planned activity. She’s having a LOT more fun than I am! Mom has never been a joiner so the easy-going, cheerful staff inspired her interest. Mom’s in the memory care part of the facility so she needs more care & patience than most. Medically, professionally and spiritually she gets the best of everything with the staff at Atria RP. Even my hope for her comfort was restored by these wonderful staff members. They are real joy to work with! I deal with patient quality & safety issues at my workplace so I’m very familiar with local & national response to COVID. I’m truly impressed with Atria RP’s quick, thorough and caring quarantine set-up. Regular updates via email, phone, text and the new, ingenious Atria app were important tools that kept me calm about Mom’s health. I feel confident that Mom is in the right place.

The decision to place a loved one in an Assisted Living or Memory Care Facility is not easy. And not all of these facilities are created equally! My family and I did an EXTENSIVE research of facilities from Chula Vista to Vista in search of the perfect fit for our Grandparents. My Grandpahad a brain tumor and passed shortly after they moved in. Atria's staff provide my Grandpa dignity and love in his time there. After he passed, my Grandma's grief and signs of memory loss were so gracefully addressed by the staff. We moved her from Assisted Living to the Memory Care floor. My Grandma's quality of life could not be better! Residence Services Coordinator, Yesenia has made sure she has everything she needs. Chris and Rebecca manage her medications. And Rebecca spoils my Grandma like she were her own family. Thank you to Chevy for always making herself available for all of our questions. The food is delicious, and my Grandma can be a picky lady! Atria Penasquitos is truly "home" for our Grandma. I wish I had space to add all of the names of the amazingly loving care givers (Nenita, Maria, Blanca to name a few)! They create this beautiful loving space for her and our family to visit and enjoy real quality time. We love going to "Grandma's House" for visits. I wish these stars were hearts because I can't express enough the LOVE we have for Atria. Atria's LOVE for my Grandma is everything!!!!

So this is a very surface level review because as far as level of care goes I can not really say. What I will comment on is from the stand point of customer service and moving people in. I was asked to help last minute by a friend to get their mother into this location. We both were told that they would have people there to help get our stuff from our truck into the room. What was there was a small push cart and a older gentleman that was more concerned with his back than moving us, blame that I don't put on him. I blame the establishment for not rolling out the "red carpet" for people when they move in. No one likes the idea of moving family into an assisted living location, however the process could've been a lot more enjoyable if The Arbors would have had more help. The lack of help and a service elevator had us carrying an electric bed up stairs to the room. For the cost of this location I would expect better logistics and planning and the reason for the poor review.

I moved my mother to the Arbors 1 year ago. She has blossomed there. She has her own little apartment, fixed up the way she likes it. There are many activities to choose from, including going off site to Sunday drives, going out for lunch, shopping and occasionally the casino. At the Arbors, there are often bands that show up for entertainment, dancing, bingo, little parties, exercise classes and a beautician so she can get her haired dyed and cut. Before she moved in, she was depressed and lonely. She has made many friends there and is very happy. The assisted living facility is just the right size to make it cozy, not too many tenants. They have had the same employees and cooks working there forever, which is a good sign. Each of the tenants that lives there loves the place and comment on how clean the facility is there. The place is very reasonably priced too ($3700/mo) and there are no extra charges later that happens at so many of the other assisted living facilities. My mother is free to move out whenever she wants, which she hasn’t wanted to. It is just nice to know if you fear your relative may not like the place, they could move out.
