Fantastic place!
January 2026
My mom has been at the Mother Theresa rehab twice. Her last experience there was wonderful. She said the food was really good and the staff was so kind. Our family is so thankful to everyone there!
June 2025
My husband recently was in the rehab section of Franciscan Village for several weeks. The entire staff was always cheerful and happy to meet his needs. My husband experienced outstanding care. Every person we encountered was wonderful. You could tell that they enjoyed their jobs. Staff always introduced themselves right away. His room was always clean. Everyone treated him as a person, not a patient. The administrator and Head of Nursing would stop by the room to check up on him. The social workers were on top of his release ordering complicated multiple pieces of medical equipment for discharge. Physical and Occupational Therapists were excellent, pivoting to meet changing needs quickly. Every time I entered the building, I was greeted by my name several times. In short an outstanding experience, I highly recommend Franciscan Village. Carol Dudzik

Horrifying. My mother almost died there in 2018 after being sent there for rehab due to their inept and far from knowledgeable staff. Thank God my Moms Dr removed her, she was hours away from dying from sepsis.

I have a cottage home and enjoy it very much. Many Activities/Opportunities to take advantage of--games, movies, Live Presentations, off-campus trips to interesting places. Staff are caring and attentive.

Before the year ends, I felt that a shout out to Franciscan Village in Lemont , Illinois is extremely necessary. Living in Independent Living for almost three years, my husband and I are 99% happy and well satisfied with the services provided and living arrangements. We feel that the staff is very friendly and always willing to help. Norm recently had knee surgery and the convenience of the Therapy Department being at the same building was so convenient. The bus rides to doctor appointments are also accommodating. Living in a community of friendly residents is a super plus. I now have time for doing things I love since cleaning and food preparation is mostly accommodated by our wonderful dining team under the direction of Unidine Services. Daily food can be gotten from the Bistro for breakfast and lunch and then a relaxing dinner in the beautiful Dining Room with many awesome wait staff. The variety in selection of dinner choices is outstanding. Recently with 2 months of Norm's doctoring with his knee, we talk often of our blessings with our life here. Never did I have to worry about food prep since Unidine does it for us. The Bistro staff would post a personal note on Norm's container for breakfast or lunch which made his bed rest time more doable and he felt included in his much loved community and not forgotten. For special occasions such as Mother's Day and Christmas, the food was outstanding and Chef Tony did exceptional with a whole variety of homemade goodies, including Baklava, an awesome chocolate cake with raspberries and chocolate pieces surrounding the frosted part. There was three tables of delicious goodies all made with LOVE by Chef Tony. The serving staff was also plentiful and happy to be of service.

Horrible cockroach infestation. The roaches crawl around the counters by the juice and pop machines. Dirty place. When you see the same dead bugs in the bathroom 3 days in a row you know it's not being cleaned regularly.

May 9, 2023 My mother has been a resident in Franciscan Village’s Independent Living facility for the past two-and-a-half years, and I visit with her at least two days per week to make sure all is well. I occasionally peruse the reviews of FV to stay abreast of what others are experiencing. I am at a loss for words reading the negative reviews about their dining services. Months back, FV reorganized their dining department and hired Dean Georgelos as their Director of Dining Services. What a smart move. Meal and side options vary from day-to-day and the quality of food is far above the standards of other senior communities and some of the restaurants I’ve frequented. For example, the newly organized Sunday Brunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. offers standard breakfast fare such as waffles with all the trimmings (fruit and whipped cream), eggs, casseroles, lox and bagels, etc. in addition to prime rib, roast pork loin, lamb, beef tenderloin, and baked ham and an assortment of vegetables. These options are offered on a rotating basis and are of excellent quality.so good, that my husband and I often join Mom for brunch on Sunday. I must also add that there isn’t an empty table in the place and all the residents are enjoying this lively social experience. During every meal Dean is circulating the room helping out and making sure that everything is running smoothly and that residents are satisfied . The number of serving staff took a hit during COVID; however, a fully-trained staff is currently employed and things seem to be running well. Oh, I forgot..wine is offered at every dinner and on Sunday Brunch days occasionally mimosas are available. If you don’t believe me, join your beloved family member for brunch. Jean Sedory December 2020 The administrative staff at Franciscan Village has been extremely helpful in assisting my family transition our mother into the most comfortable apartment in their independent living facility. The accommodations are impeccable and the staff is always available to help residents navigate around their new surroundings to a point where they feel confident enough to be on their own. Our special thanks go out to Kerri Carney and Christine Weets for all they have done to make this process run smoothly. You can trust your elderly loved ones in the hands of the qualified staff at Franciscan Village. Jean Sedory

My mom has been living in the Independent Living bldg now for almost 3 years. The staff that works there have always been very kind and helpful. HOWEVER, every single day my mom tells me how AWFUL the food is there. I have seen several meals there myself and I am SHOCKED how awful it is. Tiny piece of some kind of meat (you can't tell) which is covered with a thick sauce of some kind. My mom has lost a lot of weight because she cannot eat what they are serving day after day! I have complained several times directly to the chef who always says they are going to do better. But NOTHING ever gets better! I actually ran into a resident in the elevator yesterday who said she and her husband moved in May, 2022 and they lose almost $800 a month in food allowances since neither of them can eat any of the food they are served. I told her the same goes for my mom and we've been trying for almost 3 years to get them to serve better food. Nothing changes! The owners want the place to look nice (and it does) but once you put your loved ones in this place they don't care about their well being. The food budget is so low that I'm told the chefs cannot make good meals. So PLEASE think twice before moving your loved one in this place! Even though it looks nice, is always clean, has many activities which is great - but if your loved ones cannot eat ANY of their food it is not worth their well being!!
December 2022
This is a place I call home. Always looking forward to getting in to serve.
November 2022
I feel like my loved one is well taken care of! The staff truly do care. I am appalled by these reviews. This is far from the truth. I work in the field and visit many different senior living centers. This is one of the best facilities around. My job has me visiting over 45 nursing facilities at least quarterly. Trust me.
November 2022
Is the daily activities are great. You can participate in anything you want or nothing, that’s the beauty of this place.
October 2022
My mom has been there in independent living for 5 years. The people there are friendly and caring. When she first moved in the dining room and food were very good. But now every time I talk to my mom all she does is complain about how bad the food is and how bad the service is. There are no healthy choices for meals. I can not recommend Franciscan Village to any other family members or friends until this unfortunate situation is rectified.
October 2022
Let me begin by stating I am a former Franciscan Friar who has studied the life and writings of St Francis of Assisi and St Clair. There is nothing Franciscan about the place and they should not be allowed to use the name. Franciscan Spirituality calls for working with the poor and disenfranchised. This place caters to the wealthy. They charge over 13 K per month and have a limited number of beds for Medicaid covered people, which is what most Middle class people need to qualify for to afford a skilled nursing facility. They reserve these limited beds for current clients who have privately paid for two or more years at $156,000.00 per year and are now broke and need Medicaid. This place uses a for profit corporate model and not one driven by a Franciscan Spirit. St Francis of Assisi would roll over in his grave if he knew how this place uses his name in the name of Profits and not caring for the poor and disenfranchised. Pax et Bonum.

The villas look excellent.

We had looked at several senior communities for Mom and Dad (who were 93 and 98 at that time). When we visited Franciscan Village, we were struck by how energetic, engaging, and welcoming the residents were and by how caring and compassionate the Staff were. It helped that the chapel was beautiful and would allow Dad to resume his attendance at daily Mass. The apartments were clean and attractive and affordable and leased on a monthly basis for no buy-in. This was very attractive to our parents who were not keen on this move to begin with. They'd been in the home that they'd built for 56 years. PLUS, the options of Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing as they might become necessary were very attractive. In deference to our concern about the 4 flights of stairs in their home and Dad's failing balance, the Administration offered Mom and Dad a smaller apartment until the larger one that they preferred became available. We moved them in on September 1. It was a challenging life transition, but made easier by the warmth, friendliness and compassion of residents and staff. Residents welcomed them immediately to their dinner table, to their games, to their conversations. Mom was elected to the Residents' Board within 2 months of moving in! When Dad suffered a major stroke in March and moved into Mother Theresa, the skilled care nursing facility that's part of Franciscan Village, Mom was able to visit him whenever she wanted throughout the day or night. And passed the chapel each time so that she could say a prayer for him. And again, without exception, the folks who cared for Dad were kind and compassionate. Dad's passing in early April made us even more grateful that we had found and chosen Franciscan Village. Mom was surrounded by love. A woman across the hall from their apartment knocked on Mom's door to tell her that she was available night and day to listen to Mom's stories because Mom needed to talk about Dad. This is the kind of people who live and work at Franciscan Village. We're very happy and very grateful that Mom and Dad moved to Franciscan Village. Mom is with friends on a daily basis. She can choose to participate in as many or as few activities as she likes (and there are LOTS!). And she made the move BEFORE she lost her life partner of 74 years so they were able to enjoy a few months together. This is a very lovely, loving place for people to enjoy all the time they have left! Further, we are very grateful to the Administration and the Staff of Franciscan Village for their careful and loving attention to the residents, especially during the pandemic, but consistently throughout the years. We appreciate your putting the residents’ safety and well-being first on the list, attending to their physical safety through thoughtful policies and procedures and to their well-being through activities and the presence of such loving staff.
August 2021
This is the safest place my Mom could possibly be, especially during the pandemic. Care is taken with each resident to address their specific needs. Staff stick to the current pandemic rules despite the additional workload it causes them. I feel that staff here truly care about my mom's happiness!

Worst care ever. My mother went in for rehab. To become ambulatory with a walker. She also had mild dementia, and needed constant reinforcement. They refused to assist her to the bathroom. Put her in diapers and developed a UTI, and became incontinenet. Refused to cut her food and put her on a puree diet. Tried to put her on tranquilizers vs. taking time to talk and explain to her what they were doing. If I didn't go there daily and fight for her she would have died. Finally after 20 days I was able to take her home where she flourished. I won't send my dog this place 5stars are the biggest fraud. Kept putting her hearing aid in the wrong ear and Walked in on an aide slapping her in the face. Needless to say mt complaints were very loud and finally I reported them nursing home elder abuse and won my case.

They took very good care of my grandmother and the staff was very friendly

Our Dad was a resident at Mother Theresa Home within Franciscan Village. We were very pleased with the facility, staff and level of care that was provided. He has now moved closer to family, however, I would recommend this community.
January 2018
This is a great place, with a caring staff. If I need to move where there is assistance i would definitely move here. ‘ ‘
November 2017
My mother recently stayed at the Mother Theresa Home at Franciscan Village for subacute rehab. The accomodations were fine, although somewhat dated. As far as the nursing staff, a few of them were wonderful and provided exceptional care. However, for the most part the nursing staff was not particularly responsive. There were times my mother rang for help and it never arrived. One nurse in particular was downright nasty and rude. We felt like we needed to be onsite with our mother the whole time in order to protect her from this woman. The rehab staff were all friendly and knowledgable and we felt the quality of the rehab our mother received was very good.
