I've been a resident here for a long time. The food here is great. The staff here is nice and respectful towards me. The facility is very clean. Activities are fun and I like interacting with other residents. If a family member would ever need care I would love for them to be my roommate.

I have been at Harmony House for 4 years next week. The staff here is great and they are great help to me. The facility is always nice and clean. The house keeping team is great they always work hard. I love the food here - cheesecake and the vegetable lasagna are my top fav. I'm currently working with therapies and therapy team is great.

Having come into Harmony two weeks ago from 102 continuous days in the hospital, I feel that this is the best healthcare facility I have ever been served by, and that includes the four major Iowa hospitals and two of the Waterloo Rehabilitation Facilities. The main reason I feel this way is the dedication and commitment displayed by all of the CNAs in caring for all their charges. They are absolutely amazing and are key to a very successful business model for Harmony House. This level of service comes from a caring heart and a willingness to serve, and is rare in healthcare today. Additionally, all of my Nurses have been excellent, and I know that I am in good and confident hands, as well as those top-tier professionals from RT, OT & PT Departments and the Labs. Another reason I appreciate being here is for the excellent in-house Kitchen and Cooks who provide full-flavored, old-fashioned, delicious food that is so uncommon today. Superior cooking skills, especially by Fry Chef Dan, whose ability to transform quick frozen items into perfectly browned and moist entrees is amazing and consistent. Further, it is so nice to be in a facility in the green suburbs with such pleasant views of the landscapes and nature just outside my window. What a huge difference from the city! Finally, I love how all employees here maintain a clear focus on the importance of residents, the quality of their care and lives, and their rightful expectations. Again, especially among the fine Cadre of CNAs. I highly recommend Harmony House Health Care Center to all.

My son has been in this facility for 6 years and just when you think it can't get any worse, it does. Care was sub-par under ABCM however since Legacy has purchased the facility, this place should be condemned. They're severly under staffed, often using "floaters" to cover multiple wings. The staff they have is inexperienced and they have no training. The employees worth keeping have left due to poor management or have been terminated because they challenged management. The food has declined, with ham and cheese sandwiches for dinner. Most times they are out of juice or other common staples one would expect a facility to have an abundance of. Please note. The kitchen staff is excellent and Shelley is a rock star. They can only work with what the owner allows. Physical therapy is a joke. One of the reasons I moved my son was for OT and PT promises that were not kept. I recently learned he has had no therapy since the end of June. He is a TBI, confined to a wheelchair and therapy is a necessity to avoid contractions. They promote a pool, but can never find anyone certified to allow the pool to be used. He had special braces that were to be placed on elbow and wrists 3 times a day. Most times they were not on. When questioned. Aides either were not aware or they did not know how to put them on. Again training and communication. Cleanliness is terrible. Most times my son goes to bed with dried food on his face and in his beard. He has had groin tears due to lack of timely diaper changes. He also has cradle cap due to improper care. He has prescription shampoo, but the aides claim they can't find it and don't use it due to time constraints. They do not have standard housekeeping staff and more often than not, the building reeks of feces. Finally, any complaints go on deaf ears from the Director. I will never recommend this place to anyone who loves or cares about their loved ones.

This care facility is one of a kind. The staff demonstrate integrity, empathy, and compassion in their interactions with the special residents. Whoever started the greenhouse deserves applause. I have been coming to the greenhouse many years and have observed first hand residents benefiting from the therapeutic experience. The greenhouse has a true healing and joyful impact on their body, mind, and spirit! It is not just a place to grow flowers etc. The fruits of their labor are enjoyed by so many in the surrounding communities. Thank you for continuing to offer this blessed experience, you are truly making a difference!

Love going to the Harmony House Greenhouse. The cleanest greenhouse I have ever been to. Employees very friendly and helpful. I purchase from them every year as I love to support this wonderful Waterloo facility. Plants are healthy and reasonably priced.

I've been going to the Harmony House greenhouse for 14 years. It is managed by wonderful people and the plants are always very healthy and reasonably priced. They have the best geraniums! The residents are able to help out in the greenhouse which I think is such a great opportunity for them. I love buying plants here knowing my money is going right back into the facility and helping our community. The greenhouse is tucked behind the main building on the NE corner of the property. Go check them out!
