Moving to Merrill Gardens is among the very best decisions I ever made. I toured several facilities but always left feeling underwhelmed. When I entered Merrill Gardens, I said aloud, "This is it." From the moment I stepped into the lobby, there was a buzz of activity among residents in several areas. People were playing cards or board games, having conversations in the living room, putting together puzzles, completing word searches, and reading near the library. There was laughter everywhere. I knew this would be my new home. Perks include a theater, wellness gym, activities room, bistro, outdoor walkways, beautiful landscaping, and a dining room, led by a chef, that is open to residents from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is not possible to participate in all the back-to-back daily activities, including painting classes, exercise, yoga, and Tai chi, book club, Red Hat club, Jeopardy, Trivia, gardening, crafts, and guest speakers. Monthly birthday parties and meet-and-greet opportunities, holiday celebrations, and fun competitions are always a hit, and outings to restaurants, shopping, museums, and more are very popular. At Happy Hour every Monday, live entertainment adds to the fun, and performing groups are regularly on the weekly schedule. New residents are welcomed from day one, and genuine, caring, lasting friendships are developed among new and old. Caregivers are attentive and always kind and helpful, and the administrative staff continually asks for feedback from the residents. I cannot say enough about the joy of living at Merrill Gardens. I encourage everyone to check it out before making a senior living decision.

Wonderful place for those assisted living and memory care needs. My mom was over there for a year and a half. The staff never failed to take care of her or alert me when health related issues arose. They were kind, attentive and they never failed to tell me how much they loved tending to her needs. I can't recommend Merrill Gardens at Madison enough. They did a great job.

My FIL was very happy with the care and attention that he received. All the residents seemed happy and cheerful. I toured Merrill Gardens with my daughters as part of a scouting project. We were very warmly welcomed. Community Relations Director Andrew Johnson kindly explained to us how MG provides care to their residents and the activities they provide to help residents maintain their mobility and independence. The facility has been recently renovated and is bright, open, and comfortable. We would gladly return for community events.

Merrill Gardens has been a great facility to call home for my mother this past year. She is loved on by the dining hall staff, medication attendants, and the administrative staff. The activity director goes above and beyond planning a variety of activities both on campus and off for the residents. After my father died residents and staff surrounded my mom with love, care and friendship.

It was great at the beginning, until the change in upper management. My mother said she was mean’. Some of the other residents we were friendly with expressed they were scared of her. When my parents were moving to another facility, they added fake charges. They tried to charge us for damage to the bottom of the kitchen cabinet doors. My parents only ever went into the kitchen to get something from the refrigerator or was their hands. They didn’t sweep, mop, use a walker or anything that would damage the bottom of a cabinet. It was clearly there before they moved in. I was appalled that a facility charging as much as they did, would try to get more money out of the elderly by adding false charges. They also charged us to replace all of the flooring in the bathroom because of my father’s incontinence. I would think this is something that would be covered under insurance. There was so much more. My parents were there from 6/2023-3/2024.

My father has been a resident for about a year now and he loves the facility. The staff and residents are always extremely friendly and helpful. The most important thing for him is having good food, ensuring his medications are dispensed accurately and having an onsite gym. Merrill Gardens does a great job with all of his needs. Very clean units and grounds and plenty of activities to do. We are very happy he is a resident there.

Most of the reviews written are staff at Merrill Gardens - Madison. The facility is nice, the food is good. It is also the most expensive place to put your loved one into memory care. They do not notify you of rate increases, your first notice of a rate increase is when you receive your invoice. The rate takes effect within a few days. My last notice was a phone call the day before I received the invoice for my mom. I was told her rate was increasing by $980, when I received the invoice in the mail, it was an increase of $1,918.32 from the previous month. RENTER BEWARE!!

My mother lived at Merrill Gardens. One thing I observed is that on certain days, the staff performed excellently, while on other days, their performance was quite lacking. We have reported this issue on several occasions. We have also noticed that the staff members who previously attended to my mother, who were excellent workers, are no longer employed there. I suggest that cameras be installed in the rooms. At one point, my mother was unable to walk. A staff member essentially threw her into her chair, even though she was attempting to walk. The staff member remarked, 'I don't have time for y'all today.' This is not a nursing home. This incident was brought to the attention of upper management. To my knowledge, the staff member involved is still employed. My recommendation to any potential resident is that the use of cameras should be allowed.

My mother moved in here 2.5 years ago after my dad died. She was lonely, depressed and losing weight. She really didn't want to come but since moving to Merrill Gardens to she has thrived! She's gained weight due to the wonderful food! She loves her apartment (even brought her cat) and they offer lots of activities, events, celebrations and outings. The entire staff, from the front desk, sales, general manager, accounting, maintenance, dining room, kitchen, activities, housekeeping and nursing are so friendly, attentive and knows residents by name. This place is bright and cheery and I so enjoy visiting there and seeing my mother, staff and residents. Sadly, recently her cat passed away. Thanks to nurse, Brianna who called me to alert me, I ran right over and got him to the vet and we were able to say goodbye before he passed. Tiesha, the head nurse was also very helpful in making sure I was alerted. We're so very grateful to Tiesha and Brianna who are our heroes!!! The staff and residents have been so kind to my mother in acknowledging the passing of her cat. On another note, please know like any facility, there is a rent increase each year so factor this in.

Everyone was so helpful and friendly and made me feel right at home. I knew once I walked into the door that I was right where I was suppose to be. The staff was very attentive and the atmosphere is very relaxing and comfortable. The only reason I left was due to family relocating. Having lived at Merrill Gardens at Madison over two and a half years my overall experience has been very good. The getting used to a new place is always difficult; however, this place kind of grows on you. My son calls this the Taj Mahal of assisted living. I have had good and bad experiences during my time here, but at this time the good overshadows the bad. This is the same as it was when living in my home. While here you can always know you will be taken care of in all situations. The management, staff, caregivers, medical care and all that work here are the best anywhere and appear to be handpicked. Sure you always find a bad apple in the bunch but all here are of the Taj Mahal class. Many opportunities for self improvement, travel and continued happy living are always here at this Merrill Gardens.

My mother has been at Merrill Gardens for almost 5 years. Due to a fall, she has required more assistance the past several weeks so I have been with her 8-12 hours every day. I have been able to observe and get to know the staff during that time and they have been wonderful. They truly seem to care about the residents and many, many times went the extra mile to be sure not only my mom, but that all residents received the care they needed AND were made to feel that they mattered. I have also been very pleased with the residents themselves, who seem happy and truly have a sense of community. I would recommend Merrill Gardens to anyone!

It’s all about the people taking care of your loved ones. There is so much turn over at MG that the care for your loved ones is somewhat lacking in some cases. There are some great workers at MG. However when my father was moved to memory care the attention to details and overall experience plummeted. The fees continued to increase while the care continued to decrease. The fee wasn’t the problem but when you pay more for less along with the employee turnover there may be other alternatives for the care of your loved ones.

Merrill Gardens is my third Assisted Living Facility and is truly wonderful. The staff does not simply give the minimum; they do everything thoroughly and professionally. They are genuine in their care for residents. I've lived here six months, but felt welcomed and felt at home with the staff and my neighbors from the first day. The building seemed large and fancy to me when we first visited but it is neither. It's actually quite cozy and very friendly. It's hard when you've given up everything from the cat to the car, but we've all been through the downsizing and understand, support and accept each other. I feel God blessed me by leading me here and I'm thankful.

Cidney answered questions and showed my daughter and I Merrill Gardens for my 87 year old mother. We visited three local facilities and Merrill Garden was the best fit. My brother found a location near hm in another state. Mom visited both facilities and she selected Merrill Gardens. Mom really enjoys the activities. She plays poker, Skipbo and dominoes. Also, likes the day trips to restaurants, local stores and the Madison Wellness Center. The residents are friendly. Staff members, Leigh, Meghan with the Activity Center, Annie at front desk, Jo, Tiffany in the restaurant, and Cidney, Andrew with the Community Relations Service, are all pleasant and helpful. Overall Merrill Gardens has been a good experience for Mom and our family.

She has taken a liking to this little boy James who has made sure that there was not a speck of dirt on any of her dishes! We moved my 89 yr old dad here in Oct 2021. He loves it! The staff is wonderful and happy, the environment is bright and cheery, with tall ceilings and lots of windows, and there are plenty of activities to keep him busy. I feel such relief knowing that he has assistance when he needs it, and he doesn't have to worry about meals. I considered a few other choices in the area, but I'm so glad I chose Merrill Gardens. All the residents that I've met seem really happy there, and several told me that they wouldn't want to be anywhere else. If you're considering an assisted living facility in the Huntsville, AL area, Merrill Gardens of Madison is a wonderful place. I trust you'll be as happy as we have been.

i have lived here for three weeks. Mostly i am thrilled i came here. The food is amazing. they will prepare almost anything and it is just delicious. all the staff seems happy to be working here and bend over backwards to make sure you are happy and your needs are met. It is a lovely facility. i love my apartment and there are many comfortable, beautiful places to sit: the fireplace lounge area, the bistro, the patio, the lobby, the dining room. At any given time, you will find residents seated about visiting with one another, playing a game, reading, watching tv, enjoying one of the furry residents or having a snack or beverage.

After looking at different independent and assisted living facilities in our area, we decided that Merrill Gardens was the place for us and we have not been disappointed. The facilities are beautiful inside and out. Front office management, caregivers, and recreation area, the dining room are all well managed with courteous and helpful staff. Dining is available from 7am to 7pm with a wide selection on the menu. Extra amenities include church services, exercise classes, trips for shopping, doctors appointments. Fun activities such as games, movies, happy hour, and outings to various events. In other words, Merrill Gardens is like a resort for us! Don & Rosalie Sanders
