There truly are not enough words to express the love, gratitude, and respect our family has for Kensington Assisted Living in Cumberland, Maryland. My sister-in-law lived there for several years, and throughout every stage of her journey, the staff treated her with incredible patience, kindness, dignity, and compassion. They never made her feel like just another resident. They cared for her like family. Every staff member went above and beyond to make sure she felt comfortable, accepted, safe, and loved. In a world where genuine care can sometimes feel hard to find, Kensington shines brightly. What touched our hearts most was what they did after she passed away a few weeks ago. The staff and residents came together to hold a beautiful little memorial service in her honor. That level of compassion meant more to us than words can say. It showed just how deeply they care not only for the residents, but for the families as well. If you are searching for a place for a loved one and want somewhere filled with warmth, patience, respect, and truly amazing people, I cannot recommend Kensington Assisted Living enough. I'm not usually one to post reviews but the staff at The Kensington-Cumberland are exceptional. The executive director, Nicole King, has been super helpful and encouraging to me personally throughout the move in process with my mother. My mother has nothing but good things to say about the caregiving staff. She loves Sam doing her laundry. She has made many friends. For my mother not to complain about everything is a testament to all of the staff. She looks forward to the Family Traditions events when her great-great grandson and his fiance as well as myself join her. I am especially grateful she is at the Kensington with the impending snow storm that is on the way because I know she is safe and well taken care of. Again thank you to Nicole, Miranda, Misty and the rest of the staff. You all are amazing!

We have been so pleased with everything about Kensington. Mom was quite hesitant to even consider a move to assisted living. She has been there only about 3 weeks and has been pleasantly surprised. She participates in the activities and has met many of the residents. The staff has been delightful and helpful. They have been so attentive and caring since dad passed during moms third week there and have made the transition as smooth as possible for all of us.

We recently moved our mom into the Kensington from her home of 50+ years. Lots of emotions and change for her but we could not be more pleased! The residents and staff have welcomed her (and us) with open arms and we have been amazed at the amount of amenities and activities available to her at a very reasonable cost. Her comfort and safety were of utmost importance and we have certainly found both here. We highly recommend!

I participated in the Virtual Dementia Experience. Wow! I didn't know anything about the personal experiences of a dementia patient. I was disoriented and transfixed by the opportunity and I have much more empathy for the human side of this awful reality.

My father was recently placed into the Kensington due to health issues. Miranda Miller has been absolutely amazing in working with my father to make him feel comfortable in settling in. The Kensington is amazing and Miranda has made it that much better.

My aunt recently moved into The Kensington and we have been so happy with the facility. It is an older, historic building, but it is not run-down. They have lots of activities, the food is good, and the staff is so kind and patient from the top down. All at a reasonable price! We feel very lucky to have found The Kensington and can recommend it without hesitation!

This facility has done a wonderful job of making my dad feel welcome. Everyone knew his name and spoke to him from the first day he moved in. We were all greeted by every staff member we encountered. Many of the residents were so excited to meet my father. Maranda has done an excellent job from the first time we visited to inquire about the Kensington and still continues to keep in touch to make sure my dad is comfortable. Thank you!

I just want to take the time to reach out and give a review for Maranda, I really appreciate her help and hospitality in showing me a few rooms for my uncle Donald! Also, I wasn’t expecting to get a call on Monday from where he is in New Jersey, to tell me he needs more time, and they can get him more time, I did travel there to see first hand to get a assessment of his current situation and I can pretty well see he definitely needs more time! I know myself I couldn’t handle him by myself, so I definitely would like to see him get that added time to help him and me make a move! When he’s ready to go I will definitely call on Kensington again to see about placing him there!

This facility is TOP NOTCH! I can’t say enough good things about the experience my friend is having there. The people who work there are extremely kind and caring. The room that my friend has is very nice and she feels like it’s her new home. The staff go out of their way to find ways to make her feel that she’s part of this community. They find out the interests of their clients and tailor activities to fulfill them. One of the most important things is that the food is very good. Many times these type of facilities do not have good food. They have a calendar of events posted and go out of their way to make it fun for their clients. They take weekly trips to Walmart, restaurants etc. They even take them to appointments. They clean their rooms and do their laundry. Each floor is provided with their own washer and dryer if the client likes to do their own laundry. The staff is really good about keeping in contact with me since I am my friend’s POA. I highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place for their loved ones to live. I am very grateful knowing my friend is happy during these chapters of her life!

My wife has had many family members live here throughout the years, currently her grandmother. We recently visited and the facility was very clean, well-maintained, and decorated beautifully for the holidays. I had the opportunity to meet some of the staff and they were all so kind and seemed happy to be there. I am confident that our loved one is being well taken care of and she enjoys where she lives.

My Grandmother had received the best care, there along with much more. There is a very warm and welcoming atmosphere and attentive and caring staff. The activities are very engaging and a pretty well maintained facility. They are able to provide safety for my grandmother along with the other residents. My grandmother loves living here as she gets the help she needs as well as feeling independent!

The Kensington is a wonderful assisted living facility that truly feels like home. The historic charm of the building adds a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it stand out from other places. The staff is incredibly kind, accommodating, and attentive, ensuring that residents feel comfortable and cared for. One of the things I love most is the location”being close to downtown makes it easy for family to visit and for residents to feel connected to the community. My grandmother has been living here and couldn’t be happier. She especially enjoys the bus rides, which give her a sense of adventure and independence. Kensington has done a great job caring for my elderly mom who requires assisted living care. As mom has aged the team has worked with the family to address her growing needs and allow her to remain a resident of this facility. Staff provides transportation for her as needed for doctor appointments and insures her menu items are cut in smaller pieces to prevent any choking episodes. We are very pleased.

I’ve spent some time here for different reasons. One thing I love about this community is how much folks care about each other. The staff at the Kensington are bar none. They care, they’re proactive, they’re pleasant to work with. Their facility is really nice and people seem to really enjoy spending time here.

Chose The Kensington for a cl8se friend. They take care of all the clients as needed for their condition. My friend likes it. Good meals, clean and everything you need, with having to worry about anything. I reccomend The Kensington for a retirement home or care facility.

My mother has been at the Kensington for several years now. The staff is wonderful: attentive, alert, warm, conscientious. The building is old, charming but always needs attention. My Mom has lived at the Cumberland Kensington for over 7 years, and is very happy there. The local staff is wonderful, caring, and competent, and has very little turnover. They provide lots of options for activities and entertainment for the residents and create a friendly atmosphere. They are open to suggestions and requests. We're glad Mom lives there.
