The place is beautiful but you pay for the privilege of the facility being part of the Presbyterian Homes. The staff and volunteers that cares for the residents are Great. I cannot say enough about them. The administration leaves a lot to consider. At first they are caring and accommodating as it is their job to accept as many new “residents” as possible. As time goes on and dynamics change with your loved one you will find it becomes more what the administration wants than what the family “wishes” or “needs. If you can afford the place and the admin likes your loved one you will like this facility.

My wife is in the memory care unit of The Deerfield. I think she's getting good care. A good number of people are there often, so it's not just temporary staff, but full time. Her room is very nice and it has a window to the outside. It's a neat little room that has the bare essentials, which is all she really needs. What I really like about this community is that there are some middle aged women on the staff who are regulars there and they're the same ones week after week. So there's good continuity in that aspect. The doctors and nurses have also been there a long time and that shows their expertise.

The Deerfield was a smaller facility. It's about half the size of the other two we visited, so they don't offer as many things. It's right next to a hospital, so the clinic and the hospital are next door instead of the clinic being in the building. They don't have too many rooms, dining rooms, nor places you can go. They double up on rooms; one room is a sewing room and an exercise room. The apartments were small, but they offered everything that is necessary for a good life. Pricing was less. One wing started with independent living, then had assisted living in the middle section, and memory section at the other end. I would recommend it. It was well worth looking at. I have our name on the list there. There weren't as many choices as far as dining and stuff like that, but everything was good.
