From the very beginning of trying to find a place for my 91 year old mother, the Gardens and especially Wendy Williams was there for me and my family. They were so attentive and caring and made a very trying experience much easier to deal with. I will be forever grateful for the care and support we received while my mother was there. If I could rate more than five stars I certainly would.

My mother and I have nothing but great things to say about this place. From the moment we started talking to Jamie and Wendy about moving mom in there they have just been such an amazing caring staff. I feel so blessed to have found such a great affordable place for my mother. This group cares about your loved one like they were there loved one and that is so hard to find. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming and I have had to put my mother in other places that did not feel like this. I have also toured many places that did not feel like this. If you have to put your parent in assisted living this is the place that goes the extra mile. They make you feel like your concerns are their concerns. I feel like my mother is safe and with people who care about her well-being like I do and that is peace of mind that you can’t find many places. My mother said their food is good and I have to say that is normally a complaint in most places. They have plenty of activities that my mom picks what she wants to do. They have therapy that has just started working with my mother and they seem to be great too! If you are looking for a place where your parent feels like they are at home then call them! They say actions speak louder than words I can tell you what they say they do. I’m so impressed by this group and hope my mom never has to leave her new home! I also want to add my mother is happy! That says a lot ❤️

We had to make the difficult decision to find memory care for my mother in law in October 2021, during a pandemic. Wendy and her staff were very helpful. The staff in Bridge to Rediscovery (the memory care unit) were wonderful, very caring and helpful. They truly care about all their residents. Some even came to the hospital when she was in the ER, that's how much they care. Every one of the staff came by her room the day she passed away to check on us and speak with her. They truly are special people and we are very grateful for everything they did for mom.

This place is clean, friendly staff, tons of activities, music, serves 3 meals daily in a nice dining area or, if you wish, served in your room!

Before making our decision, dad and I toured several assisted living facilities. The Gardens seemed transparent in their policies and more interested in a good fit for my dad than in sales. For us a good fit included his ability to stay there if, when he needs changed. He moved in a few weeks later, and I have been so pleased with his care, their communication, and their follow up. They have helped him integrate into the community (even though he is not much of a joiner). The staff at The Gardens has responded in a timely manner to any, all my calls and questions, and when the nursing staff determined he he should go to the ER and likely be admitted to the hospital, they quickly arranged all the paperwork and an ambulance, and kept in communication as well. The rooms are sunny and clean, the staff all know dads name and joke with him (while doing their jobs well). The food is good and there are numerous activities for those who wish to participate. The Gardens also has an on-site nurse practitioner and therapists, should the resident care to use them

Gardens of Va Beach is Best-In-Class for Senior Care. My mother (mid 80s) and I recently decided that living alone had become somewhat overwhelming and a bit too risky, so after research and a few visits, we decided to move her to the Gardens. It is clearly one of the best decisions weve made in our lives. The facility is well appointed for comfort , luxury and very well maintained with competent on-site facilities management. The well trained nursing and support staff is 100% authentic and genuinely attentive to my mothers every need, which begins with making her feel welcomed and at home. The apartments floor plans are spacious and accommodating to senior needs without looking like a hospital or nursing home. The on-site dining (restaurant) is amazing and offers attentive servers, a flavorful variety of menu options, and socialization for seniors. Activities galore have kept my mother engaged daily. Best of all, the Gardens offers transitional care so as my mother continues to age gracefully, she will be well cared for in a familiar environment. I highly recommend the Gardens for your loved one. Its well worth it.

This was a long process for us trying to find the PERFECT place for my father. I looked at numerous locations and really liked several of them. The Gardens of Va Beach topped our list for so many reasons. I will try and list them out: One is that my father is very ill and he is on hospice care. Some of the ALFs in the area are only able to care for my dad until he becomes bedridden. He would have had to then transfer to a nursing home. The idea of moving my dad at the end of his life into a new facility was just not acceptable to us. The Gardens of Va Beach will be able to care for my dad for the rest of his life (with hospice care). This brings us tremendous peace of mind. Secondly, Mary and Barbara have made this whole process so much easier. It is overwhelming to move your loved one out of their home and into an ALF but Mary and Barbara just about hold your hand throughout the process. They are available in person, by phone and by email. My numerous questions are answered quickly and astutely. They both CARE about my dad (and for me) and seem to do everything they can to ease this transition. Thirdly, the staff. We were invited to lunch and tour and our server that afternoon was a WONDERFUL person named Tyrek. My dad and I were so quickly made comfortable by how patient, accommodating and caring Tyrek was with my dad (and me)! He went out of his way to make sure that my dad had a fantastic lunch and was made welcome. Tyrek helped us make our decision too because we felt that if the staff was as amazing as Tyrek, the Gardens would be perfect. Lastly, I am a RN so I have very high expectations of medical, care staff. I looked hard at everyone I encountered during my visits there. Did they seem professional, caring, compassionate, gentle, patient? I looked at the facility itself for cleanliness, organization, flow. Everywhere I looked, I was very pleased. So, there were several reasons that my dad and I felt that the Gardens of VA Beach was the right place for him and they were all very important. My father is very, very important to us and his comfort, care and well being means everything to his family. I am trusting The Gardens to take care of my dad for the rest of his days and I am not giving that trust lightly. So far, my trust seems very well earned. Thank you Gardens of VA Beach for being there for us!!!!

My husband and I have been very impressed with The Gardens since the first day we walked in the front door. Barbara and her staff have gone above and beyond to make sure my mother in laws transition into The Gardens has been smooth and inviting. When we first met with Barbara, she immediately made a connection with my mother in law. Her compassion and support has been comforting and we felt confident that The Gardens was the best placement for my mother in law. Every time we walk into The Gardens, Barbara and her staff have smiles on their faces and greet us by name. Barbara even sat with us at lunch to get to know my mother in law better. Its comforting to know that my mother in law will live in a place that offers a variety of activities, tasty meals and weekly outings. There has been absolutely no stress since the beginning of our journey at The Gardens. We definitely give Five Stars!!

Upon learning our mom would need to be placed in assisted living I started educating myself. Six places were suggested and I visited 4. It is a very stressful time with alot of pressure choosing the right fit for your loved one. Funny how you visit one place and you know if it is yes or no. I had a yes in my mind before visiting the Gardens, but I wanted to give each place an objective view. After visiting The Gardens I called my brother and said I felt I had found the place, but did not want to influence him. Barbara goes above and beyond your expectations. She was very interested in our moms needs and listened to our concerns. I took my father for a visit and he thoroughly enjoyed himself. Barbara again spent a great deal of time with us listening to my dad and his concerns. We hope after being in the community visiting Mom, Dad will realize a good fit for him too. The nursing director is a new sheriff in town and also goes out of her way to make the medical part of transition smooth. Mom moves in this week and I expect it to be difficult, but I feel that we have all worked together for all to make this successful. I thank all at the Gardens...front desk, housekeeping, nursing, and especially Barbara for helping to make this difficult time easier. I would highly recommend taking a look at the Gardens!

I came to The Gardens for a tour for my Dad. We were told he could not stay at home anymore at the age of 91. I was so impressed with the people and the community at The Gardens. The residents were just moving around like little bees so in tune with everything that was going on. It was such a blessing to watch, because my Dad was living alone and was always not happy. Everyone I came in contact with was happy, from staff to residents. I cant say enough about Barbara Boeninger. She was always there for me, to listen,to give support or advice. I was a basket case, this was a very hard decision to make. Thank you Barbara. You and Lisa are the best. My Dad is now a resident at The Gardens (about 3 weeks now), he loves the food, the people and he is so happy. This has been the best decision I have made for my Dad. Vickie Richardson

Moving a parent into assisted living can be a stressful life event, particularly if you are having to make that decision if they are not cognitively able to do so. Additional stress is being out of state and not being able to stop by, say hi and to check in on them to ensure they are happy and safe. As stressful as this transition in life may be, Barbara and all of the staff at the Gardens have made this as easy and seamless of a process as possible. They have all been understanding of our mothers needs, as well as our own. There are 5 of us daughters, and all of us collectively and unamamously agreed the Gardens was the best place for our Mom. She, as well as all of us, immediately felt welcomed and at home here when moving our mom here last month. It provides me great comfort in knowing she is happy, engaged in activities, and the multi-disciplinary team is so kind and compassionate. Just as a parent would want the best care for their child, we want the same for our parents. The Gardens has met this level of expectation we were looking for and more.

My mom needed assisted living in a hurry due to certain circumstances. This was the first and only place we looked at. When I called on Friday to inquire about the housing, Barbara was instantly a huge help. She graciously did everything to go above and beyond to make the process as easy as possible. And my situation with my mother was challenging to say the least. I met with Barbara on Friday afternoon so she could learn about my mom and her needs. She answered all my concerns and gave me a very thorough tour. I honesty dont know how she was able to get anything else done between the time she spent in person with me and the numerous phone calls throughout the entire weekend. And guess where Im writing this review from? Its Monday night and Im in my moms apartment at the Gardens of Virginia Beach. From Rose at the front desk, to Carolyn the LPN, to Bob the chef, we were all greeted with such open arms and made the transition feel seamless. When I leave tonight to go home, I know I made the right decision and I can sleep knowing my moms going to be ok.

Weve had great experience with Barbara B! When we wanted to move our aunt into The Gardens over the holidays, Barbara went above and beyond the call of duty to make the timing work and help our aunt feel more comfortable. And since then, Barbara has been there to answer questions, handle issues, and help our aunt feel at home in her new place. Thanks so much!

We moved my mother into The Gardens in Dec. We visited different places looking for the right fit for our mother. Several neighbors highly recommend The Gardens. I met with Barbara and she was so understanding and took the time to discuss things with me and give me a tour. I felt so good when I left there. We are so happy with the Gardens. My mother has been so happy and now gets involved in activities daily and seems to be thriving compared to being at home. Everyone is so friendly. She has not asked about home at all. The Gardens has become her home and she has adjusted well, thanks to the wonderful staff. The staff treats the residents with so much love like family. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at The Gardens. I can sleep well at nights knowing she is being taken care of. Thanks again!

I searched and looked at so many facilities while trying to find the perfect place for my father. This is it!! The rooms are spacious and updated. The staff is phenomenal. I cant say enough, from Barbaras incredible staffing, to the round the clock attentive care my father receives here. My father is happy and engaged, and my daily stress over his care is finally relieved. The ladies and gentlemen that assist my father keep me in the loop with calls on his progress and stopping me in the halls to talk and see if there is anything we need. I feel like part of the family here. Our elder parents can be challenging at times, but everyone at The Gardens rises to those challenges. Thank you for all you do for my father, me and my family.
