Carol and I are about to complete our first year at Manor House Independent Living. From the excellent assistance we had in getting moved in, furniture placed, pictures and drapes hung, etc. to enjoying many new friends in a safe, comfortable environment, we consider ourselves blessed.

My husband and I were newcomers to Virginia, Charlottesville, and Branchlands when we came here to be near family seven years ago. It was pure good fortune that we found Branchlands!First for the both of us, and then for me as an active widow, Branchlands has provided many acquaintances, some becoming special friends. It has activities and transportation to pick and choose from as well as respecting those desiring more independence.But, for me what makes Branchlands even more special is its setting - the greenery, trees, ponds, birds and wildlife - all which I see from my windows or along the many nearby walks. A wonderful location close to so many things, and in a beautiful natural setting. Come check it out.

My father moved here about a year ago and loves it. The staff has been caring and compassionate to him , he suffers from Alzheimers and sometimes gets confused , but they are always there to lend a hand and keep up with gentle reminders of important things. Understandably due to Covid19 I havent been able to visit in a while now. At first I was worried about changes to his normal routine and such. But the staff has been a huge help with this. They even have made many automated calls to family members updating us about any changes and also the safety precautions the facility is making. Love the staff here and im so glad my dad is able to be here right now. Cheers to you all.

Nine months ago it became apparent I needed to find a place for my 93 year old mother. I needed to find something that continued to give her independence yet peace of mind (for all of us). I actually looked into 8 communities (narrowed down to 8 after much research). I can honestly say from my first phone call to Branchlands to moving my mother in was absolutely incredible. MaryAnne was not only helpful and informative but made us all feel welcomed. My mothers apartment is great. It was spotless when she moved in and everyone made her feel like this was her home. Dining room is lovely. My mother loves the food. She also loves the outdoor gathering areas. My mother was not thrilled about moving. Now she says its the best thing she could have done. I am incredibly grateful to Branchlands, the ownership and the employees.

I had great reservations about leaving my beloved Baltimore. Eventually, my daughters convinced me to settle near them in Virginia so I came to Charlottesville, visited Branchlands and chose it as my new home. I Love the setting, the Manor House, the staff and mostly my home. I am happy here.

I have found living at Branchlands to be surprisingly convenient, carefree, and stimulating. First: Convenient because banks, churches, grocery stores, restaurants, library, post office, and shopping centers are all within a mile or so.Carefree because I have maid service, my dinners are prepared, utilities included in rent, free laundry, facilities and transportation provided if/or when I need it.Stimulating because of the interesting people who live here, the programs presented (musical and educational) as well as trips to events in surrounding communities. Also, we get together to play bridge, poker, pokeno, dominoes etc. as well as pizza, and movie nights.I can't imagine living anywhere else!

My lifelong friend moved to Branchlands Independent Living in February. She has a beautiful apartment overlooking Manor House and the gazebo. Unfortunately her health begin deteriorating almost immediately and, coupled with the Pandemic and resulting lockdown, she has had to overcome many obstacles. The administrator and staff at Branchlands could not be more supportive and caring. They have worked with Ann and me to meet her every need. It is truly the best retirement community in Charlotesville.

The Manor House at Branchlands is a wonderful and fun Independent Living Community! I am proud to work in such a lovely and gracious home that dates back to 1818. I enjoy our great residents and staff and since we are a small community, the atmosphere is very much like a family!

After looking at several places for my mom to transition from living on her own into independent living (and eventually beyond), Branchlands was an easy choice to make. Not only is it in a lovely, warm and welcoming setting, the staff who work there are beyond kind and gracious. They helped me with every step of the process and have been easily accessible when I have questions and concerns. I feel a true partnership with them. The living spaces are clean and well appointed, the dining services are tasty, the activities are plentiful and appropriate, the residents are so sweet, but most of all, the feeling that my mom is in a place on the east coast where she is well taken care of while I live on the west coast is priceless. I highly recommend Branchlands to those of you who may be looking for the right spot for your family member. You will not be disappointed at Branchlands.

Branchlands is a lovely community sitting on 26 beautiful acres in the heart of Charlottesville. Wonderful people, wonderful staff, wonderful place to live!

Cheapest senior living in Charlottesville, but you get what you pay for. High turnover in directors leads to staff not seeming happy turnover in staff has gone up as well probably because of this. It is clean and the dining is good and the long term employees are wonderful.

My father was one of the first residents at Linden House. I chose Linden House because it was new, a good location for me, and offered the level of care my father required. In the year before he passed away I witnessed the love and tenderness provided by the staff. They were with him up until he passed away. The amenities and activities kept him engaged and he always loved the outings. I wasnt sure what to expect when I moved him into Linden House, but the experience surpassed my expectations.

Our father moved into Branchlands two years ago. From our first, exploratory visit and throughout his living there, he, we found the residents, staff and management to be welcoming. The facility is clean, well run and maintained. There are many amenities, on-site activities and excursions. In just two years, he found peers with whom to share his life. Everyone in the community not only knew him but also seemed to know us, his children. After he passed, their warm words were balm on our grief.
