My Father has Parkinson's Disease, and my mom could no longer care for him alone. After extensive research, I visited The Avalon Memory Care Center. I was impressed with the very nice rooms and common area the residents enjoy during their stay. We decided to give them a try. My Dad has been at The Avalon now for 7 months and we are very happy with the care he receives! The meals are delicious, and the residents get lots of TLC from the staff! All of the staff are so compassionate and gentle when caring for my dad. Even the director of the Avalon- Autumn, pitches in the caregiving. During my visits, I have witnessed her just sitting with a resident and talking with them, just spending time with them. Some of the staff have taken my Dad for a walk in his wheelchair at the park next door while other caregivers take turns spoiling my dad by bringing him his favorite snacks. The Avalon staff doesn't just care for my dad, they actually LOVE on him!! Couldn't find a better place for your loved one than The Avalon!

Words cannot even begin to express how amazing Avalon Memory Care on Mystic Park has been for our family. We feel beyond blessed & grateful to have this place for our loved one who has Alzheimer’s. We kept him at home as long as possible, then moved him to another nearby Memory Care which had good reviews. It was an absolute nightmare. After 2 months there with constant need for family members to come sit with him 1:1 bc the staff “couldn’t handle him,” he was bounced to hospitals repeatedly for “geri psych eval for meds” or “presumed UTI” (never had one) & given dozens of antipsychotic/anxiolytic meds. We were then told that he was “too much to handle” & “no memory care could handle him” & he “needed psychiatric/state hospital admission.” Several of our family members are in the medical field, and this just didn’t seem right. Thankfully, a hospital social worker recommended Avalon. Since he moved into Avalon he has improved dramatically. He is happy, eating well, engaged, stimulated, sleeping well & even cooperative with hygiene; none of which was the case at home or the previous facility for months & NO MEDS! He hasn’t needed any of the sedating meds that were so quickly given as a 1st-line for exit seeking elsewhere. The staff are so patient with him & it makes a huge difference. Within 2 weeks he stopped exit seeking & settled in under their care. It’s a beautiful place, very clean & cozy. The meals are home cooked in the kitchen & personalized. His room is very large with a private bathroom/large shower (other facilities we toured have community showers). Autumn, the director, is very hands-on & knew more about him in a week just from listening to him & paying attention to him than anyone did at the other facility in 2+ months. You can tell she actually cares about the residents & families & takes pride in her memory care being a home away from home environment for everyone who walks in the door. We highly recommend Avalon. If you’re having trouble with your loved one elsewhere, or if they’re simply just needing more than what’s reasonable at home, this is the place to go. We wish we had found it sooner, but are so so blessed to have our guy in the right place now.

The staff here are so attentive and always communicate with me. It’s not usually easy to leave your loved one in the hands of strangers at a facility, but the staff have made the transition easy because of their kindness and attentiveness. Elizabeth and Autumn (just to name a couple) do such a great job with all the residents there and I’m so glad to have made the call to them when I did.

I have worked with the residents here for over 2 years. We are like a family here. Its a small community so each resident receives a lot of attention and care. We love each one of our residents as if they are our family. I have never seen another community like this and plan on being here for many years to come.

Avalon is a wonderful home away from home, the staff is very friendly, loving, caring and were always there for my MOM. Every time I visited her, she was sitting with others enjoying conversation or getting her nails done or helping others. She was much happier at Avalon than she was when she was at my home not having full time companionship. Avalon was a blessing for me, just knowing the wonderful care that she received was such a relief and after my visits, I could return to my home knowing that she was happy. When her health failed and hospice was brought in, they rose to the occasion and assisted in any way needed.

When you walk into Avalon you can tell that the staff and management really care about the residents. Its a smaller community so they treat everyone as if they are family. They take the time to learn about each residents needs and they tailor the care to each individual resident. Not only do they tailor the care but they also go out of their way to make sure each and every family member feels welcomed when they walk in. If I ever need a community like this I will definitely choose Avalon.

My wife is currently a resident of Avalon on Mystic Park in SATX. I am pleasantly pleased with the care she is being given. The attendants are courteous, polite, and friendly. They are eager to help and knowledgeable. The facility is spotless. The administrators of which there are two are friendly and very helpful to respond to all my questions, and I have had many. I am so proud I chose Avalon as a home away from home to place my wife. I explored several such facilities. If asked, I would unhesitatingly recommend Avalon.

what a disgusting facility its all about the money your loved ones are just a 5000 dollar a month payment to these vultures they are not equipped to take care of any ones needs properly and the safety of your loved ones are at stake from the staff stealing from patients and the things they hide from the families to lets just say their every day well being if you love your family dont send them here Jennifer and Justin will just see you as a opportunity and a pay day

This Community and the management staff was warm and welcoming to all of our questions we had for the possible living arrangements for our mother when that time might come!
