We are living in a time where compassion and good customer service seem to be on a decline, so it's very refreshing when you walk into a place and see workers who truly love their job in making lives easier for our elderly. Shout out to Anecia W. in Admissions who goes above and beyond for her new patients as they arrive, and she continues to check on them throughout their stay. Also to Richard S. on the Life Enrichment team, who keeps the residents engaged with fun activities, support and genuine compassion. When I visit, the residents in his care, they make it a point to tell me how how much they appreciate him. Walnut Place is putting together a great team to care for our seniors! I know it can be a tough job! Keep up the good work!

August 19, 2024 it was so nice meeting Svetlana and the staff yesterday at Walnut Place on 5515 Glen Lakes Drive in Dallas. If I could give Walnut Place 6-stars , I would. I felt comfortable with the staff and the facility. The staff that I met - Svetlana, Tiana, Melkam, and Shainai were all helpful, very professional, and friendly. Walnut Place was clean and home-felt. The food smelled really good. They have healthcare providers to come to residents, which makes it very convenient. These factors give me important insight in choosing an assisted living home. Blessings and thank you, Svetlana. Maria

During my visit with a family member at this facility, I met 2 young ladies who told me that they have worked together for 20+ years. I believe their names were Mia and Latonya. They assured me that our loved one was in the best care and I believe them just because they were so warm and inviting. If everyone is as caring as these two, I know without a doubt that our loved one is at the best place.

Walnut Place is one of our main reasons for moving to the Dallas area from California. My husband, who is the resident, was greeted very warmly, as was I, on Jan. 16, 2024. It is such a lovely, beautiful, clean building with caring, thoughtful staff members. The other residents are wonderful, and my husband is so happy to be at Walnut Place. The food is delicious and there are activities for the residents to participate in if they desire. We feel so blessed to have found Walnut Place!

It's very challenging finding the right place for a family member to recover , temporarily stay or permanently live. Thanks to Walnut Place and their care and attention our uncle is now back home . He developed his independence, mobility and strength by staying in their assisted living facility. Carlos, the assisted living director was always there to help him , and always there to answer any of our families questions. Svetlanta the director of community relations would give us updates on special event s they were able to direct us to home healthcare options that are licensed and insured. I highly recommend walnut place for your family member and for you as well.

I can't say enough good things about Walnut Place. My brother was in the skilled nursing section of Walnut Place for 2 months after a pretty extensive surgery and received the best care from the most caring staff you could hope for. Everyone there from the administrative staff, to nurses to cleaning went above and beyond to make his stay as comfortable as possible. They even got him to and from his DAILY radiation treatments and when he was ready, they made sure he had everything he needed for his transition back to home life. We truly appreciate all they did for us.

Walnut Place is a good environment for my 87 year old Uncle. He moved form independent living to nursing. He has adjusted very well because of the caring and professional staff. When, considering the move, we were fortunate to work with KaTrece Lee, Director of Admissions. In fact she is the primary reason we choose Walnut Place. KaTrece gave us an extensive and quality tour. As we toured she explained patiently specific aspects of Walnut Place she thought would be favorable for our uncle' s Best Care. KaTrece represents Walnut Place outstandingly: professional, warm, friendly, with a keen empathy, of what it's like for a person to go from independent living to 24 hour care. She takes time to visit Uncle so he knows he has someone at Walnut Place he remembers, has interactions with, and receives a smile. We are pleased and grateful.

I have consistently been impressed by the compassionate and dedicated staff at Walnut Place. I was referred here by Julie at Senior Living Specialist after careful consideration of my requests, fears, and budget. If you want the short answer, this is right place to care for your loved one. If you want more details you'll find them below. — Clean common areas — Private rooms cleaned daily on the memory care floor — Responsive — Nurse on duty — Cameras not only allowed but encouraged — Direct line of communication with staff via cell phone — Secured memory care floor — Residents engaged and clean — Food is freshly prepared and appetizing — Caregivers are hands on and attentive — Caregivers speak with gentle compassion — Caregivers trained to redirect when needed — No pressure no sales pitch Starting from day one one Svitlana welcomed me through the doors with love and empathy. At first I had come only to look at respite care but after meeting the staff and touring the floor I started to think this might be the right place for long term care. Upon entry I found a welcome sign with my name, a small detail that anyone could do but hadn't. I was greeted by Svitlana's warm smile and captivating accent. Although she's heard years and years of similar stories you never would have known. She listened with such love and understanding. The tour was equally as impressive. The memory care floor was nice and smelled clean. This part alone was impressive. During the time of my visit the residents were dressed, clean, and ready to eat. They looked well cared for and engaged. The food actually smelled good. They were eating seared pork chops that day. This was a big plus for me as my Mom has always been a foodie. One pleasure that she can still enjoy. Svitlana knew them by name, touching their shoulder or giving them a smile. Again, genuine compassion. The caregivers on the floor were also very attentive. I was impressed by the room size and the en suite bathroom that was easily accessible for my mom. It was there I met Carlos, Director of assisted living and memory care. He too was just as engaging with the residents as Svitlana had been. I asked about having a camera in my mom's room (some places don't allow this and it's a hard fast requirement for me) not only is it allowed but Carlos encouraged it! Saying something like "I love and trust my staff but I can't be in all places at once. I want to know they're being cared for even when I'm not here". Instant relief on my part. I ended my tour with hugs from both of them. There was no pressure for me to sign up, no sales pitch. The next day I was sent a personalized video thanking me for my time. Just an extra step above and beyond anything I had experienced in my 6 month search to find the right place. I took a few days to think it over then invited Carlos and Svitlana drive out to my house to meet my Mom and do their assent. They brought her a small welcome gift with sugar free snacks (they had remembered she was a diabetic). After the visit they sent my mom a video walk thru of her her new home. I moved her in a week later. Since she has been there I have witnessed countless interactions of personalized care. She is checked on throughout the night and during the day if she is in her room. She is allowed freedom of choice. No one forces her to go to bed, stay in bed, or do anything she doesn't want to do. Every interaction I've seen on camera has been positive. Due to the Dementia my mom is not always easy but THEY are always kind. I don't know all the caregivers by name yet but I see their sweet faces greeting my mom with dignity and respect. Activities are offered daily. Both Carlos and Svitlana have checked in on me and given me updates on my mom when I've been unable to check on her myself. I was able to go on vacation with full faith and confidence that my mom would be cared for while I was away. If you've been looking, I know your struggle, I feel your pain. This is the place you've been looking for, this is your respite.

Everyone I've encountered at Walnut Place has been helpful. When trusting your loved one to the care of others, it's difficult to know who to trust. After some bad experiences at other facilities, the memory care unit at Walnut Place was suggested. They have been great. Attentive and engaging with the residents. Good communication. Would highly suggest you consider if you're looking.

My mom moved in recently for a respite stay at the assisted living portion of the facility in Dallas, TX. Svetlana helped us from the beginning when we were first looking around, and has been incredibly kind, attentive, and informative throughout the process. She was authentic and clearly truly cared about my mother and me. My mom has been there for about a week, and as I had hoped, the rest of the staff has been just as caring and attentive. My mom wasn't happy with the food the first couple of days, so someone from the kitchen came to visit her and see what they could do to improve the situation. Also the director Carlos stopped by and paid her a nice visit asking what they could do to make her stay better. I can recommend this place completely as a place to care for your loved one.

WOW.... Walnut Place is AMAZING, Sevtlana and her team are the BEST, I brought my father here straight from Presbyterian of Dallas (Across the street, another fantastic reason) she and her team helped with the transition from Independent living to assisted care. This place is very clean, well lite and the floor plan is laid out very convenient for wheelchairs and scooters. They made me and my father feel comfortable from the get go, you will feel relived knowing that your loved one is safe and taken care of 10 out of 10, highly recommended...

My father has been a resident in the assisted living area for several years. The health aides are amazing and caring for my father. We have been very happy with the care he has received. I was amazed this week when my father fell at night and had to be transported to the hospital, thankfully across the street. The overnight aide called me at 3:00 a.m. Thankfully I live close and was at the hospital within 15 minutes. Five minutes later the Assisted Living Director, Carlos Mehlin, walked in. Wow! I couldn't believe he showed up just to make sure one of his "Peeps" was not alone in the hospital. You talk about going the extra mile... Thank you Carlos and the rest of the Assisted Living team for the care and concern you show my father!

It is never easy choosing a place for a family member to be their new home. Numerous calls and visits to places, and one return call stood out. Svetlana from Walnut Place left me a video message. That was the beginning of relief for me and my family and a new friend who has been available 24/7. She went to the hospital to meet my Uncle and reassure him of the transition, with Carlos another Director and Nurse along her side. They both made sure that our needs were met. Svetlana also helped me conquer medical hurdles that have been sent my way, with lots of SINCERE Don't Worry's, and a lot of HELP and CALLS to the necessary people. Whether you are local or out of state, she is there for you and makes you feel like your family is her family. Offering suggestions, and answering any and all questions which may be ridiculous to others. You can tell she loves her job and is the caring person your loved one needs, and you do too!

Walnut Place is a wonderful care facility. While I do not have a parent there I am a sitter so I'm there during the day quite a bit. Walnut Place is a positive, inspirational place where questions are answered, comfort is given and care is priority number one! I’ve been impressed with how much effort each individual member of the team gives and how much time each member puts in to guaranteeing that I am heard and that my loved one is experiencing true compassion. I know that the health industry is currently in crisis; however, no one would ever believe that if he/she looked into Walnut Place: professionalism and work ethic still exist…at least at this facility, and I’m both grateful and impressed! This past February I needed to move my mother from assisted living to memory care and I spent several weeks touring locations. Walnut Place seemed to be the best fit for her. The location, across the street from Texas Health Resources Presbyterian Hospital and medical offices, is ideal. The pricing is very reasonable, the staff professional, the food nutritious, and the housekeeping and laundry services efficient. But, the Medical Director for Memory Care and Assisted Living, Carlos Medlin, is the real bonus. He is very accessible and responsive to residents, their families and also to his staff. Walnut Place Memory Care was a good decision and my mother is happy and thriving there. Cynthia J

Walnut Place Senior Living was extraordinary from the first visit, and has continued to be extraordinary even as of today. It all started with the warm and heartfelt joy in receiving our exploratory visit back in May of this year. KaTrece Lee, Director of Admissions was so professional complemented by her genuinely kind and helpful persona. She was highly instrumental in making Walnut Place our choice. When we finally checked in, she even sent her Facilities Manager, Charles (?) to help us set the room and TV for us. Now that we have been here for almost four months, the nursing and care staff have proven to be extraordinarily caring, responsive and even patient with us. Then when I arrived at the skilled section the nurse showed me my room just before bedtime and it was the end of his shift. The next shift explained some of the procedures for the beginning of my stay which relieved some of my doubts. After that and to this day ALL of the nurses , aids and staff have been so very Efficient and helpful in my recovery that I experienced more desire for my own self care than I have never experienced before! I was very fortunate to be accepted at Walnut Place for rehabilitation. There I met Mr. Peter and Orson what a team they were. Was scheduled to go daily for 1 hours and after a week I was on my way to recovery. So thankful for the staff they have at Walnut Place. It's been an awesome experience.

Absolutely wonderful people and faciiity! My great aunt Van is there and they treat her like family! My great aunt told one of the staff that the one thing she missed about home was caring for her plants. The staff member bought some plants for her and she was so excited to have them in her room! Thank you is not enough for your caring hearts!

Our father was in Walnut Place to gain his strength after having Covid. The staff was great. A special thank you to Edna (aide), P.K. (aide), Angela (case manager), Donna (physical therapy), and Ulysses (physical therapy) and anyone who made his day brighter.

My dad was a resident at Walnut Place from July 2021 through December 2021. At the time, my dad was 85 years old and had been diagnosed with dementia for approximately 2 years. He was initially hospitalized at Presbyterian for a UTI in July and the doctors there recommended to my mom that he be transferred to Walnut Place for further treatment/rehab. I am unsure if there is an affiliation between Presbyterian and Walnut Place but it seems likely that there is. My mom took Presbyterian's recommendation at face value and had my dad moved to Walnut Place. My dad lived on 3 different floors while he was a resident there. It was in his first room on the 2nd floor where he tried to get out of bed. This resulted in him falling and fracturing his wrist. To this day, it is unclear to me why he was in a bed without bars since this would have likely impeded this activity. The staff on this floor was fairly hit and miss. Shortly after this, my dad moved to the Rehab To Home program. These rooms are located on the 6th floor, and this was his best experience. The rooms were all clean with small kitchenettes, the staff was friendly, and my dad's needs were attended to, such as cutting up his food & feeding him, changing him regularly, clean bed linens etc. His last and final move to the 3rd floor is the primary reason for this rating. This floor always smelled like urine. As soon as you stepped off the elevator, it hit you in the face. I saw at least 3 roaches in my dad's room during his time there. Face masks, paper towels, and wet wipes were scarce if existent at all. We never found one of the foot pedals for his personal wheelchair after it mysteriously disappeared. I would do my best to come to Dallas 2 weekends a month. It never failed that when I would arrive on a Friday or Saturday morning that I would find my dad with food all over his face and clothing. My dad could not cut up food or feed himself at this time and there were instructions for staff to assist with this. When I would ask staff about this, they would get short and defensive with me and tell me they did not have the time. Even more disturbing than the food was the fact that my dad was often soaked in urine and occasionally soiled with feces. My dad was still lucid at this point and he was very embarrassed about this. I can only speculate that my dad was in similar conditions on the mornings that I was not there. My dad was moved to this floor because staff had determined that he required 2 staff members to assist him, and that was not a "service" available through the Rehab To Home program. Good luck finding 2 staff members on the 3rd floor who were not only available but also willing to help. I would track someone down and either get told, I'll be there soon (and not see this person again), or I'd be met with attitude about how busy they were, my dad's room wasn't in their section etc. One aide practically yelled her schedule in my face. I would offer to help and sometimes that would result in him getting cleaned up sooner but then there was no reason for him to be on this floor if the 2-person requirement couldn't be met with current staffing. It was $6000/month for this "service." There were some very kind staff who worked at Walnut Place, and I always made sure they knew how much we appreciated them. The arts & crafts ladies were so sweet and you could tell they loved their jobs. The front desk staff, the physical therapists, and the doctors were all knowledgeable and helpful. But the aides at Walnut Place, who are the backbone of this facility (and this industry, in general), were overall unreliable, unpleasant, and not helpful. If they are indifferent and/or negligent, it is your loved ones who will suffer as a result.

A resident of Walnut Place for 13 1/2 years, my mother thought of Walnut Place as her home and the staff as her family. Staff in all departments -- in particular nursing, activities and physical therapy -- were dedicated and friendly and often went the extra distance to make sure she felt safe and cared for. Words cannot begin to express my gratitude to a long, long list of Walnut Place employees for the loving care my mother received during her time there.

My father-in-law was placed here a couple of weeks ago. We had heard the facility was pretty good, but, let me tell you, it's not good now. It smells and it's run down. We NEVER had a family meeting the whole time we were there which was inexcusable. We kept asking to no avail. We had very little communication from the staff (other than PT/OT) on goals, progress, or how long we'd be there. The nurses were hit or miss when they showed up. Some were very kind, others acted like it was an inconvenience to help with changing a diaper or going to the potty (which was THEIR job in the first place). They are horribly understaffed which made the good nurses overworked. One weekend I saw 4 nurses standing around at the nurses' station laughing and talking instead of taking care of patients. Never seen that many nurse on the floor other than that one time. The highlight of the rehab were the 3 amazing therapists. The OT, PT, and speech therapists were awesome! They changed diapers, worked daily to strengthen my father in law and get him home. Thank you!! I'd give this place one star if it weren't for them. They got him strong enough to leave that horrible place. Do not put you loved one here. We will never go back there if we need a rehab facility again.

They genuinely care ! YES , that's correct . It's rare that you find a place where the staff, nurses ,caregivers and , housekeeping have a genuine concern for there residence.

After Hospital visits I was forced to go to "rehab" several times, and after each visit I realized I was closer and closer to being forced to find a more permanent solution where I would be safe following a fall etc etc (of which I had many!) Frankly my experiences were not pleasant at each rehab place, and I dreaded having to make a decision which would be long term. I believe in our Lord and as always I put myself in his hands . As if by magic I found myself talking to Svetlana at Walnuut Place in Dallas, and within five minutes all my worst fear had washed away. She was kind, empathetic to my situation, very understanding. and now that I have been a resident for almost 6 months, I can state that all my initial "good feelings" have proven to be acurate - and more so. The staff are excellent, helpful and caring, so much so that I belioeve I will not have to move, EVER! (Excedpt for the ultimate reason.) I am very happy to give this testimonial to anyway interest. "A place for Mom" has just given Walnut Place a first class accolade, they should know! Sincerely, William

I live in the Independent Living section and have resided here almost 2 years. This is the first time I have resided in a facility like this. When I put in a service request, it is repaired promptly. I was a patient on the 2nd floor for a week after a hospital stay while I needed PT. I was well taken care of on the 2nd floor. My nurse's calls were responded to promptly and appropriately. My PT was great. I thought so highly of them I insisted they were the therapists I wanted after being released from the 2nd floor back to my apartment. I have recently been released again from the hospital and Walnut Place Physical Therapists are again my first choice.

My mother was recently admitted as a resident in Walnut Places long-term care program. There have been so many great people at Walnut Place who have helped us along the way. First off, Maria Martinez walked me through every step of the admissions process and referred me to an attorney who was able to help me in applying for Medicaid assistance for my mother. She was always responsive--which means so much at a time when a family is experiencing crisis. In addition, Svetlana Santic, Angela Dudley, and Ruby Runnels have also been great in helping us make this big transition. In addition, there are many others at Walnut Place who I unfortunately dont know by name but who have shown kindness and compassion--their smiling faces are appreciated, especially knowing the difficult time these people are currently experiencing as caregivers and administrators in long-term care.

In early October 2020 I had an accident that resulted in a broken leg. My injuries led to some real serious infections and I ended up in the hospital in Corpus Christi. My friend in Dallas found Walnut Place and I was transferred there rehab and medical assistance to recover from my illness. Instead of pointing my finger at the problems, I looked at myself as the reason for what happened to me. I was my own worse enemy. The doctors, nurses, therapists, and other staff at Walnut Place helped me battle these infections, my injury, and helped me learn how to walk again. The food here is good and I actually lost some weight from eating the right foods and exercising,! I was feeling great, but wasnt quite ready to go home on my own. Walnut Place has a program in their assisted living where I could continue with therapy in a furnished apartment. Donna and Ulysses were my therapists on the 2nd floor and continued working with me on the 6th floor in assisted living until my final day. They got me to a point where I felt Confident enough to live on my own again! Today I am leaving the program to go to my new home, and cannot thank Walnut Place enough for helping me get to this point. Special thanks the staff who helped me along the way, Dr. Patton, Camille, Nevin, JJ, Todd, Debrah, PK, And many others I cant recall their names.Thank you, Bo.

I want to mention that since I have been at Walnut Place I have received exceptional advice and guidance. The director and staff are exceptional in everyway. I must confess there are times that I would be lost without them . They are the best of the best that our director,Dusty Davis has hand picked with care.

Ive recently moved my uncle into Walnut Place and its been a difficult change for him. Svetlana has been so kind, helpful and patient to help make this transition easier for us all. The facility is so nice and clean and pleasant. Everyone Ive met so far has been welcoming. The other staff I have encountered have been everything I want in the care for my family member. If they are this good during covid restrictions, I look forward to all they were meant to be when restrictions lift.
