My mother was transferred from another facility and she didn't arrive until 6 PM here at Manatawny Manor. My mom needs 24 hour care due to her diagnosis. Admissions had already left for the day which we understand, but the nurse on my mother's floor had no information whatsoever about my mother, no medication in the cart on top of having no list of any medication's, my mom was supposed to be taking and we were told this was all taken care of prior to arrival like it should be. My mom did not get her scheduled pm meds. Manatawny Manor knew my mother was coming for at least 4 days prior to this. There was a lot of other things that were not in order. It was very disappointing, and I felt like there was a lack of welcome. There was no toiletry bin in her room on arrival even though she had come with her own, or introducing her to some of the residents. We did this on our own which was ok just disappointing. Night stand by bed all scratched up and handle broken Although we came in the evening, we expected more - reasonable things. The one wall had dried juice spilled down the wall. You would think a good housekeeper would have taken care of this. Why wouldnt maintenance have fixed the handle knowing a new resident was coming to this room? This would be unexceptable to anyone reading this. Its like the room wasn't even checked between last resident and my mom. This was not the initial experience we were expecting. It can only go up from here, lets hope! As of 5/20/24 i would like to update this review- since my mothers admission here over one week ago, staff has made a great effort to rectify most of our concerns quickly and demonstrated they really care about the residents which means so much.

I am so glad to be able to recommend Manatawny Manor to anyone looking for a loving and caring environment for their loved one. Each staff member from the front desk to the business office to the nurses and aides have been wonderful and attentive! They make themselves accessible via email, phone, and in person! The onsite social worker is patient and walked us through everything! And...the activities staff create a fun and stimulating calendar which is so important for the residents! When you enter the community, you truly feel at home and cared about!!!!! What a blessing they have been!!!

The staff was very nice and so was the tour. I felt the assisted living side showed tired and needed new carpet and paint. I am placing my mom somewhere else and it is less expensive. I also objected to all of the added expenses.

First visit in a long time. Impressed with how clean and neat the public areas and hallways were. The patient room was clean and well kept. Each patient ( 4 bed room) had their own TV.

My Oma is here. Since it changed ownership the once good care has gone down hill drastically. They used to clean the rooms and bathrooms, but now? Not so much. Her bathroom sells badly like urine; they were asked more than once to clean her bathroom (at the very least) because, after all...that is one of their responsibilities! I did some cleaning today, but since I didn't have my arsenal of cleaning products, it made little to no difference. Next time I go, I'll be going loaded with products, mop and bucket to give her room the thorough clean it needs. The other and more severe complaint I have is this. She is extremely hard of hearing. Even with hearing aids in, you still have to speak up a bit. She has to ask to have them put in every day as they don't leave them in her room and being a dementia patient, she doesn't remember to ask for them...because of this, she won't hear the announcement when it's time to eat. One of the medications she's on causes drowsiness....she falls asleep often while sitting in her chair. When the voice comes over the speaker in her room alerting that it's meal time...she doesn't hear it...if she's sleeping, it doesn't wake her up. She's missed countless meals because of this. You'd think they'd check on those individuals who are not at their respective tables to: a) make sure they're ok/alive/not in distress b) make sure they heard the announcement. I've been there several times to witness that they don't. I understand they have jobs and things keeping them busy, but if they have time to sit at the front desks chatting...standing in the halls, complaining about one patient or another, they certainly can find the time to check in on the residents. It's maddening. They have the money to repaint the walls and make it look pretty, but the ethics of ensuring their residents are well is extremely lacking. My ONLY reason for giving this 3 stars is because she's safe within the walls and has a roof over her head. If I had a home that wasn't an apartment on the 2nd floor with no elevator, I'd have her live with me.

I picked up shifts here through agency and It's very clean and inviting. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and are very knowledgeable. I was most impressed by the quality of the food. The meals looked like a five star restaurant. I took my time to let the cook know. I will definitely keep an eye on picking up more shifts here.

My father was a patient here twice and received very good care. My mother in law is a resident and she lets us know how kind and helpful the staff is to her. She loves all the aids and nurses. To be honest she doesn't always like the food and she has never been a picky eater.

I want to give my sincere grateful thanks to Manatawney Manor staff for saving my dad's life twice Sept 2017 to Nov 2017 and just recently April 2021 -Jun 2021. Both times the staff went above and beyond to help my dad and me to help him. I live out of state my mom had just passed I am the only child; my dad lives by himself. While my dad was in the hospital, Amy Frantz from Manatawney was helping me with the transition for rehab from the hospital to Manatawney. Amy is outstanding, it was a very stressful/worrying time for me, Amy was caring and there for me. Amy was helping and coordinating with the hospital before while my dad was in the hospital. I knew from 2017 I needed to get my dad at Manatawney for his rehab. The day my dad arrived from the hospital to Manatawney, Christine P my dad's Social Worker contacted me and I met my dads medical team, (physical Therapy Dietician, Lead Nurse, they were very considerate, listened and putting my dad's medical recovery first, they all gave me their contact information, to call anytime. Christine P and Candy P went above and beyond to help get my dad enrolled in the Lebanon Veteran Hospital for additional VA Benifits. My dad is retired Navy , and never had enrolled in the VA I had tried to get my dad enrolled to other times and never could get it done. Thanks to the Manatawney dedicated staff my dad is enrolled in the Lebanon VA and had a video appointment with his Lebanon VA Berks satellite doctor. I am also retired Navy, enrolling in the VA is not always an easy thing. The other outstanding program Manatawney has is the Bridge to home, my dad was in the Bridge to home in 2017 and this past May -June 2021. It is similar to a Navy exercise, where you practice before you do the real things, my dad was able to practice at the Bridge to home, before he was home. My dad was going need extra home care help once he got home Christine P and Candy P got me in touch with Gilbertsville Ches Knoll 24 home hour care and South East Boyertown Nursing and physical therapy. Everything was all set up on the day my dad returned home, I met all the staff from Ches Knoll home care and South east, they are outstanding!!! Thanks to Manatawney Staff , dedication true care and concern for my dad from when he was in the hospital , while he was at Manatawney , and after he returned home my dad is doing good. Manatawney Manor staff allowed me to have peace of mind , it was a very scary stressful situation and thanks to Manataeney my dad is home doing good. Manatawney Manor and their outstanding professional has my highest recommendation. PS If you are a caretaker of your family member and need a break,/vacation/Working/ they offer the Bridge to home/residential care for up to 30 days.

My mom has been a resident for the past 5 years in Manatawny Manor's skilled nursing unit, specifically the B wing. Initially, my mom was not happy to have to sell her home and give up her independence. But now, she has come to realize that she needed to be here. My mom is now happy and enjoys participating in the variety of activities offered here as well as talking with the other residents. She has made friends here. Although there have been a few bumps along the way, I have always found the Management and Staff willing to listen and help in any way they can to resolve any issue that might develop. They keep me informed of any changes to my mother's care. I cannot say enough about how thankful I am to all the Manatawny Manor Staff for the lengths they have gone to to keep my mom safe, healthy, and happy during this Covid crisis. It has been hard on both mom and me not visiting with each other these past few months, but Manatawny has mailed me pictures of her, scheduled Zoom meetings, and posted lots of pictures on their Facebook page so I can see what's happening. Although nobody likes the thought of having to put a loved one in a long-term care facility, I would recommend Manatawny Manor if you are faced with this type of decision.

My mother was recently a resident. At first I was unsure about it because she was sharing a room and all the other places we had visited were singles or doubles. It would 4 to a room here, what a great thing that turned out to be.My mother was 80 % blind and had a hearing problem. There was an aid in the room most of the time or more often then not.The nurses were very good and kind to her always polite. She was always clean and in clean clothes .Had assistance with meals. She was given therapy as long as possible. There were lots of people whom had volenteered there time to do things to make her stay more comfortable.I would send another family member there if need be.There is no place like home but this was a very good second choice.Kudos to all the staff and management and volenteers for a job well done.thanks for doing such a good job.

My Mom was there a couple of times in late 2014 and early 2015 before she ended up in the hospital and passed away. Mom was treated well here. Her only complaint was she wanted to be home with me. Everyone was so nice to her and me. She got good care for the short time she was there, both times.
