We recently needed to hire a Brightstar for help with my aunt who fell and broke her hip. My main contact there was with Lynda Vickers-Georges, Director of Nursing. Lynda was so very professional and compassionate every step of the way. Lynda was always available and attentive to our needs. Lynda helped guide us through this difficult situation and helped us get to a better place.

I have nothing but good things to say about Brightstar Care in Wayne NJ. I needed help with my elderly Mom after she had a bout with Covid. I called a few companies that didn't have anyone available for me, because of the worker shortage. Then I called Brightstar Wayne & they came thru & were able to get me an aid before the week was out. And the gals they sent were compassionate and caring. Same with the people in the office when getting it all set up. Very good communication with the aids themselves & office staff once we were using them on a regular daily basis too. They really did look out for my Mom's best interest. This was my first time having to deal with a Health Care agency & Brightstar made it better than I expected. Thanks Brightstar.

I can honestly say that I have had nothing but good experiences with Brightstar Care of Wayne and Fair Lawn. From intake to nursing to customer care to LTC claims administration, every staff member I’ve dealt with has been kind, thoughtful, attentive, reliable and thorough. Prior to working with Brightstar, I was with two other agencies with mixed results so I was hopeful but skeptical when I first called. But each touchpoint has been both positive and productive. We were even fortunate enough that our first Brightstar live-in aid for Mom was the perfect fit! Oftentimes finding the right person at the right time is luck, but I also feel that the team at Brightstar really listened and intuitively interpreted our needs, resulting in such a highly successful match. The entire staff at Brightstar have been great partners and I don’t hesitate to highly and confidently recommend them!

THE VERY BESTZÉ ANDRÉ SIMPSON worked the overnight shift. He was extremely sensitive to the patients needs and he was extremely kind. He talked WITH the patient, not at him. Under our instruction, he never tried to force the patient to do anything, but he kept records so that we would be aware of what was going on, such as whether the patient had eaten and how little or how much. He was extremely patient and did not express frustration or anger when it took the patient a long time to respond or express himself. He brought a quiet calmness and stillness to the interaction, which contrasted starkly with the noisy Ding-Ding-Ding and loud talking in the halls of the nursing home, especially at night. His calm helped impart calm, something which is very important to healing.VERY, VERY GOODQWADAIRYIA WEAVER worked the daytime shift. Qwadairyia is ferocious in her protection of the patients interests, without respect to rank or title. She was keenly observant of the patients constantly shifting needs and condition and immediately responsive, even much more so than the nursing home and hospital staff, when they were in the room! She was quick to internalize instruction and alter her performance accordingly. So, for example, when she was advised that she was not to confront institution staff but, rather, immediately notify the family, her behavior changed instantly, and she was soon accepted by the nursing home staff as an equal member. These relationships are key to getting good care. Qwadairyia was extremely reliable and I could trust her perceptions and act on them with confidence. She was well-liked by the patient and the staff.RE ZIMMERMAN worked the nighttime shift. He was extremely reliable, even when working 72 hours per week. Ire (pronounced IRE-EE) was the first to chart his observations of the patient and post them on the whiteboard. This encouraged communication with-between the other Bright Star Aides. Ire developed a real relationship with the patient, to the point that they sometimes quibbled. He was quick to accommodate the patients requests fully, whenever possible. The patient REALLY appreciated this, especially when he wanted to sit on the side of the bed. Ires interventions and responsiveness could change the patients agitation to calmness almost immediately. This was a very important factor in the patients care because continued agitation invariably descended into acute, systemic pain. Ire saw the patient as a person, even though the patient was much older – 88 to Ires late-20s. He and the patient had deep conversations and Ire played chess with him. In fact, Ire took the last (and best) photo we got of the patient, who was sitting on the side of the bed, leaning over a hospital bed table, playing chess, at Ires suggestion!GOODFernande Bien Aime was excellent and very comfortable interfacing with the nursing home staff. She would track the patients laundry, keeping track of what needed to be laundered and whether it was returned, or not. She labeled all of the patients clothing and any new items that arrived in his room, such as expensive bed pads that we had ordered. She was on top of handling general issues such as these, even before I thought of them. In fact, I was so concerned about the patients immediate care, I didnt think of them, at all! She was outstanding at keeping the patients room clean and organized, and she was comfortable opening deliveries of special foodstuffs and putting them away or in the refrigerator. She was less disposed to prioritizing patient care over housekeeping. If an immediate patient task was being indicated to her, for example, by a nurse or the family, for a task such as helping to raise the patient in the bed or helping to change him, she would respond, In just a moment, after I finish this. If you need someone who is extremely reliable (in the old fashioned sense), excels at keeping the home or room organized and clean, and fits in comfortably with the institutional healthcare staff, you will be extremely satisfied with Fernande.

The team at BrightStar took care of my aunt after she came home from having her hip replaced. They have great aides and the staff is very communicative. We had used another agency in the past and did not have a good experience but the social worker at St. Joes recommended BrightStar and she was 100% right.I live out of state, which was a bit concerning and I thought about taking the time off from work but there were no issues. BrightStar was there for my father in-law following a recent fall. Their aides are wonderful. They speak English clearly and made his recovery at home so much easier. Their nurse met my father in law when he arrived at home and services started immediately. Their scheduler was also very helpful in explaining everything and making sure we had our favorite aides. I had gone through several other agencies before finding Brightstar (on a recommendation from my doctor) and Im so happy that I finally did. My mother in law had dementia and needed around the clock care. Brightstar provided consistency with the caregivers and they went above and beyond for him - they truly became part of the family. Brightstar cared for my 97 year-old father for nearly ten months, and allowed him to stay in his own apartment until he passed away. At the end, the Brightstar aides were with him 24 hours a day. I could not be happier with the care he received. The staff is exceptionally caring and professional. I was pleased that my father actually formed friendships with his caretakers, and I think the feelings were mutual. Brightstars office is always accessible by phone to handle administrative matters. Suzanne is terrific and oversees the organization as if the work is a calling rather than a business.

My mother suffered a massive stroke that left her unable to talk or walk. I brought her to my home and utilized the services of BrightStar under the watchful eye of Suzanne Miller. She provided us with caregivers 8am - 9pm five days a week and 8am - 6pm on the weekends. We had three very amazing, kind and giving women caring for my mom in the most loving manner. They became a part of our family. Suzanne was always available to us and provided my mom with caring nurses and other staff as the need arose. I will be forever grateful to Suzanne and her staff for treating my mom with love and dignity the last year of her life. I highly recommend Suzanne and her staff. If you or a loved one are ever in a position that requires outside care, its important to have a high level of trust and commitment - we found that with Suzanne and her team.
