I met Kathey Harrison over 10 years ago when I decided to bring my mom to Arden Ct. Kathey was professional, caring & ran a impressive Memory Care Assisted Living. Recently, I had an opportunity to seek out her expertise. Kathey not only remembered me but details about my mom. What makes her organization top notch is how much she cares for her clients. I remember Kathey was frequently on the floor interacting warmly with everyone and supervising her team. Her many talents made a significant difference for my mom. Thank you Kathey!!!

My family and I are very grateful for the great care our mother received at Arden Courts. Susanne and the entire staff are caring, kind, compassionate people which made the decision a smooth transition to place our mom there. We are all very grateful. Thank you for everything.

My mother was struggling with the early stages of Alzheimer’s and my sister and I were facing the difficult, but increasingly necessary, decision regarding her long-term care. We visited a number of facilities in NJ and decided on Arden Courts after seeing the facility and meeting the staff, and spending time discussing my Mother’s care with Kathey, the manager of Arden Courts in Wayne. Kathey is wonderful. I really can’t say enough about her kindness and sensitivity. Kathey’ s staff is also amazing. It must be such a difficult job, yet they seem to do it with all the patience, care and joy that you could ask for from people caring for a loved one. My Mom has been there for many years now and, as expected, her condition has deteriorated, but she is happy every time we visit. Sometimes she recognizes us, other times not, but she almost always appears to be happy and this warms my heart. She can’t really communicate verbally these days, but I will never forget a brief stay she had in the hospital for a gall bladder infection. I brought her back to Arden Courts when she was released and her face lit up with smiles and tears of joy as she was greeted by one staff member after another. She nearly jumped out of the wheelchair to hug them all. This was the moment that I truly knew Mom had found a real home and happiness at Arden Courts of Wayne NJ. Thank you and bless you to everyone there!

Susanne was beyond helpful in so many ways. Her caring, loving disposition ultimately gave me comfort when placing Mom in the care at Arden Courts. We spoke quite often while Mom was in transition from another facility. She is someone that truly cares. My family and I are forever grateful for the assistance, love and support during a difficult time!

Where to begin. We had been to two other previous facilities and really had a difficult time finding properly trained staff for dementia. We were recommended specifically to the Wayne location by our care manager. A little reluctant because this was not close for us. Whippany was much closer. We never looked back. From the moment my mom was transferred, and greeted by Kathey Harrison. We just knew this was the place. Kathey is so highly trained in Dementia and this trickles down to her amazing staff. Along with Katheys highly professional demeanor and her hands on approach. She actually helped my mother in The bathroom one day! Thank you Kathey! I cant say enough about the staff in Garden. My moms godsend! Yoconda and Quana! Kathey knew what section was right for my mom. Yoconda and Quana are the reason for my mom becoming stabilized and truly loved It there. A big shout out to Dawn as well who has a huge heart! Arden became home to all of my family. We got to know the residents and form relationships. We had to move on to a nursing home and we truly miss Arden! If your loved one needs highly specialized memory care, this is the place!

My mother developed vascular dementia after having a stroke. As her episodes of confusion became more frequent, we were unable to keep her safe at home. We tried hiring a caregiver at home, but that only worked for a brief period of time. Having many healthcare workers in our family (7 RNs, 1MD, 1 Physicians Assistant, 1 Occupational Therapist, 1 Respiratory Therapist, 1 Emergency Response worker), we were well aware of all the negative features of residential health care facilities. When we toured Arden Courts of Wayne, we were ecstatic to find an assisted living facility that actually is clean, treats memory impaired residents with dignity and respect, doesnt smell like urine like other facilities usually do, has staff that enjoys working there and truly cares about all the residents. Likewise, the activities department is phenomenal. Led by a wonderful activities director by the name of Santa, residents are kept engaged, stimulated and happy. The administrator, Kathey H., Is a hands- on administrator. She knows each resident by name, visits with them regularly and makes rounds throughout the building routinely. She assists in the houses willingly when needed. She knows family members by name and is always available for any questions or concerns. Her genuine care for each resident is visible and is also reflected by all other staff members at Arden Courts. There is longevity in the staff there because each staff member is devoted to the residents and very protective of them as well.Another fact that makes Arden Courts such a wonderful place is that memory care is all they do. As dementia progresses, the residents need much more assistance with their daily care. They need constant supervision. They may require spoon feeding, frequent incontinence care, may need to be escorted in a wheelchair, may become bedridden, and eventually need end of life care. Arden Courts provides all of this care, while still maintaining the residents dignity. Care is customized to meet each residents needs and to foster their independence and safety in a secure home-like environment. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, dental services, podiatry, and hospice services are provided on site when needed. Doctors and-or nurse practitioners visit Arden Courts regularly. Nurses and caregivers are present around the clock. My mother was on hospice the last week of her life. She remained at Arden Courts during this time. Although hospice came in daily to provide services to my mom, it was the staff of Arden Courts that consistently went over and above in caring for mom. The caregivers provided care to mom in a very tender way. They talked to her, repositioned her, offered frequent mouthcare, helped her to feel safe and loved, and checked on her at frequent intervals while they tended to the familys needs and concerns as well. The nurses were attentive, gentle and kept mom safe and comfortable. The kindness mom was treated with was extraordinary. The activities director and administrator visited mom daily have the utmost respect for the staff at Arden Courts. I cannot express the gratitude that I feel. I truly believe that they improved my moms overall happiness and the quality of her life for the time she lived there. I heartily recommend Arden Courts for anyone needing memory care.

I call them the Arden Angels because of the loving care and respect my husband received in the 3 1-2 years he resided there. The care aides, nursing staff, recreation personnel, and executive director all formed a cohesive team that ensured my husbands changing needs were always met and my questions and concerns were promptly addressed. I give them the highest recommendation without reservation.

Our family member was a resident for over 4 years and we always felt we made the right decision. From the executive director, nursing staff, recreational staff, aides, and support staff, we were impressed with the care and respect our loved one received. We were also impressed by everyones responsiveness to our issues or concerns. We are happy to recommend Arden to any families requiring this type of care.

My 68 year old husband with early onset Alzheimers has been a resident at Arden Court for the past year. After visiting numerous assisted living facilities and nursing homes, I knew that Arden Court was the best place for him. It is not as fancy as some of the other places, it is more like home. It is clean and comfortable with an open floor plan that allows the residents substantial freedom to walk and explore. There is a large community room where the residents may sit and watch movies when the staff is not engaging them in physical and mental activities. The other large room is used for various social affairs and festivities that may often include family and friends. There is a nursing office and barber-beauty shop in the central area. In nice weather the facility has an open door policy and the residents can walk outside in a secure area that has trails, park benches and a gazebo. Arden Court Manor is divided into four houses each with their own special name and decor. Outside each house is a little area with comfortable seating. There are 14 private rooms in each house, and each house has its own laundry room, kitchen, dining room and living room. The well balanced, and tasty meals are prepared by the in-house chef, and residents can always choose an alternate meal. The residents can wander through the halls of the otherhouses, have their meals there, and sit in whatever living room they choose. The facility allows as much freedom as possible while providing for the residents safety. The Administrative and Nursing staff go beyond the call and are always available for consultation. They truly set the nurturing tone of this facility. There is a doctor and nurse practitioner that visit at least weekly, and ancillary health services like dental, physical and occupational therapy can be arranged. Each shift has a professional nurse to provide treatment and dispense medication. The caregiver staff of Arden Courts is truly dedicated, professional, loving, and incredibly overworked. Thus I can only give four stars to reflect this aspect of the corporate policy. The only time I see a caregiver sit is when he or she is feeding a resident. Each house has two caregivers on days, one and a half on evenings, and one caregiver during the night shift. The night caregiver checks and changes the residents every two hours. They will spend time with those who wake during the night, and then start the morning care which involves bathing and dressing some of the residents. The day staff completes the showering and morning care for the remainder of residents. They then go about setting the dining room tables with table cloths and napkins. They bring the residents to the dining room, serve the breakfast, and feed those who need feeding. They collect and wash the dishes, load the dishwasher and launder the tablecloths and napkins for the next meal. They do the laundry, make the beds and then start to get ready for lunch, resetting the tables and reloading the dishwasher etc. During this time the residents have been in the community room with the recreation staff who have a full program outlined in the daily schedule. Chair exercises, current events, catch and kick ball, singing and dancing are just some of the activities, and a special guest is brought in every week to stimulate and entertain the residents. When the evening staff comes on board, they perform the same duties as the day staff, and then get the residents ready for bed.All the caregivers know all the residents names, it doesnt matter what house they live in, and the residents are never forced to accommodate the caregiver schedule. Because of the severity of the residents illness and needs, it is easy to forget that Arden Court is an assisted living facility and not a nursing home.On the other hand, a nursing home could not provide the professional, individual and loving care that this assisted living facility provides, all while maintaing the dignity of the resident. No place is perfect, but I wouldnt place a loved one any where else!
