My mother has been a resident of Azpira Place of Breton for the past 2 years and recently transitioned to their Memory Support. We have been truly blessed with amazing staff who have shown compassion towards my mom since day one. Even during this difficult journey with dementia my mother has been able to maintain her dignity and still always has a smile on her face. When we toured the memory support a few weeks ago we were very impressed with the program and how content the residents were. We look forward to visiting mom this week. Thank you to everyone who has helped us on our journey.

I visited 8 assisted living facilities to find placement for my brother. Sandra Rodriguez met me at the door of Azpira. While the facility is lovely and offers all the amenities as other assisting living locations.. it was the warmth, friendly and easy-going attitude of the entire staff that impressed me. There was no ‘hard sell, no pressure... just a stroll thru Azpira and rooms as Sandra, clearly proud of what Azpira can offer, addressed my concerns in an incredibly accommodating manner. No potential problem could not be solved. Sandra and the Azpira staff is why I chose Azpira as my brothers new home.

My advice to anyone looking at Azpira Place of Breton - especially in the Memory Care wing - to scratch them off and look elsewhere. My husband entered the unit reasonably functional physically - with severe dementia. Over 6 weeks he experienced an unknown number of falls - one which caused a chronic brain injury - and the last which resulted in a difficult hip fracture and stitches. In spite of the known fall risk, the staff failed to monitor his movement to prevent them. Either Azpira Place / Memory Care operated through this time frame severely understaffed or critically untrained - failing to meet the needs of all their 20 residents. ER Physicians declared my husband frail, undernourished and lacking in personal hygiene. The staff ignored his hip fracture and obvious pain - perhaps for days - until our son INSISTED the RN take a look. Finally he was sent to the ER. I have requested the log of his incidents, his confrontations, his medications, their responses, their notifications, etc. Even an attorney's demand has been ignored. What are they hiding? Our window visits revealed bruises, cuts, scabs, facial hair, dirty clothes, etc. His right hand was swollen and bruised for several weeks after being squashed in a doorway. By the time we were seriously considering a move, his time was in the hospital. Ultimately, he passed away from the brain trauma. In my opinion, lack of proper monitoring and untimely medical attention accelerated my husband's demise. An educated conclusion cannot be determined because to date Azpira Place refuses to divulge their records of my husband's care and incidents. My personal experience with Azpira Place of Breton ended in catastrophe and immeasurable grief. I'm attempting to spare another family from a similar experience. --------------UPDATED-------------- An update to my Jan. 2021 review. . . In Feb. 2021 the Michigan Dept of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs completed an investigation into Azpira Place of Breton, LLC in Kentwood, MI. (investigation #2021A1021017). In response to my complaint, the Dept. established that my husband "received negligent care" in addition to numerous administrative violations. I have been looking for a friendly place for my aunt. This establishment met all our criteria plus the inside is clean and beautiful! My aunt was worried the staff wouldnt help her but they have been rock stars and I sleep good at night knowing she is safe and with a caring staff!

Azpira Place of Breton has been great. My mom has moved into their memory care. It's more intimate and the memory unit is quite small. It has a community kitchen and living room, and they encourage the residents to help set the table and do the dishes. They do baking, crafts, and exercises. They really encourage the residents to be actively involved with a lot of stuff, which I like. They do Mom's pill management, and they have a doctor who comes twice a week to check on the residents. They have a nurse on-site, which is good. I like that everything is included and not a la carte. The staff is wonderful, especially the director of the memory care program. We like that the staff works three 12-hour shifts, which gives the residents a little more consistency.

My mother in law is lives at Azpira and we visit often. Her room is very nice and they have been kind enough to let her keep her pet. Some of the kind staff there has even helped her on occasion with pet concerns! Lynn and Denise at the front desk are always so warm and welcoming! The kitchen staff works hard to make meals a positive experience. If we ever have an issue management has been attentive. I understand emotions can run very high when it is near the end of a loved ones life, but I feel the staff here tries to make each of their guests as comfortable as they can, and that is not an easy thing to accomplish.

My mom has been a resident over a year and a half. I looked long and hard before choosing to call this home for her. She is thriving, content and is truly loved by the staff. I am thankful for the peace and comfort I have knowing my mom is truly cared for as if she was a family member. Thank you is not enough for all they do.

I recently took a tour of this facility and was surprised at how spacious the rooms were. We were there during a meal period, and all of the residents were very friendly and seemed very comfortable in their surroundings. The staff were very knowledgeable and made my mother feel right at home. We had look at far larger, more expensive residences in the area, but by far this was one of our favorites.
