The Claiborne at Baton Rouge – Reviews
March 2023
The staff is always professional, the food is exceptional, tons of activities and residents are too notch!
October 2022
The Claiborne residents were extremely welcoming and volunteered to show us around and tell us about their experience living there. Jeanne was kind, answered our questions and put my mother completely at ease.
October 2022
The facility is great and so is the staff. From January 2022 to September 2022 prices have gone up and fees that were offered to be waived no longer existed. At the signing the price was $100 more per month than previously discussed. If your going to look and think The Claiborne is for you take advantage of the offers and choose your place right away for it will continue to go up every day you wait.

Jeanne was very knowledgeable about the Claiborne and gave us a 1st class tour. Thanks

This is a very nice facility and the staff is very friendly and professional, but the food isnt good. I couldnt give 5 stars because of the food. They are definitely in need of a good head chef.

If you are looking for an independent living, assisted living community for your parents, dont waste your time going anywhere else but The Blake. My mom was a resident in the Blake before she passed away and her time at the Blake was amazing. The staff goes above and beyond not only for the residents but also the children of the residents to make sure all issues are taken care of in a timely and effective manner. From healthcare to socializing, The Blake is the best place your senior parents could ever experience.

Weve been here almost for 3 years. Weve had problems about the food in the past and weve had 3 chefs before, but the current one is a great improvement. You can never be perfect. There are other problems as well. We brought it to the new man in charge and hes worked hard to improve it. The building is gorgeous and the others living here are very friendly. Overall, we are proud to live here. My husband Bill says yeah, everything is okay

Review—The Blake at the GroveI like The Blake.I have been a resident for about 6 months. I left my home in north Louisiana in a rush as we needed medical assistance…my wife being in near critical condition. Baton Rouge offered good hospitals, quick medical response times, family ties and a facility like The Blake.I really had no concept of what facilities like The Blake offered. My son, a resident of Baton Rouge, visited and reviewed the facility. He called and said, Dad, bring Mom down, this is what you need, now.He was right. The package of services offered at The Blake as well as the physical accommodations allowed me to focus on my wifes condition. Our apartment is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath. Living room, kitchen, baths, bedrooms and closets are reasonability sized; actually, not to small nor overly large. Climate control, cool and heat, is quick responding. Hallways are wide and never cold or hot. Never hear noises from neighbors and have never heard any noise from the apartment above. Good WiFi coverage. One-bedroom apartments also look adequate in size and layout. I dont take advantage of the swimming pool, sauna, weight room, library, theater and bar.In my career, I managed people who performed all types of technical and mechanical work (high pressure natural gas pipelines). Our work had to be performed safely and accurately and documented following specific guidelines and procedures. All failures and short comings were addressed immediately. Corrective measures were implemented, and coworkers trained in those measures. I use this experience to relate an observation on The Blakes services.Improving services provided here at the Blake. - The facility is new, the staff performing the services appears to be new. As with any startup group, there have been growing pains, i.e. lapses in service quality. Most notability, the food and dining experience. For a while, no progress was made in improving in that area. It seemed no one was taking charge, identifying the problems and getting buy-in on solutions, remedies.Things have changed of late. My status changed and I was gone for a month. After returning, I noticed improvements- again dealing with food and dining services. Also, I learned, The Blake had re-hired David Nugyen in a new role. My prior observation of David was that he gave you the feeling he wanted to help you and he demonstrated that daily as an individual contributor. But now he tells me he is a customer service liaison with the residence population. I think it is a fit and if given time and authority, we will have continual improvements in the services here at The Blake.

Over the past 16 months the Blake has been an excellent living facility for this old retired physician. Wonderful facilities and caring staff are the winning combination. Great food and service are a further key.

$4900+, mo and they cant even keep his apartment clean or his clothes washed and RETURNED. The food is hit and miss. Its a beautiful place but employee turnover is constant. Plenty activities but they dont try to get the residents to participate. When he needed more care, it required moving from independent to assisted. They should give them the care needed wherever they live. Very disappointed.

We have been residents for a year and are very happy with the facility. The staff is very helpful and professional. This is the first time we have lived in a senior facility and highly recommend The Blake. The food is good. The service is good. There are several staff members who are exceptional. We are very happy that David Nyugin (spelling) is on staff again. Hes very energetic and friendly, yet professional. Hes always very willing to listen to our concerns. Until he came onboard residents really didnt know who to contact so they were telling any staff person they came in contact with what their concerns were. This was not fair to the staff or the resident because the resident wasnt getting their issues addressed. We are very pleased with Chef Peter also. He listens to our requests and makes accommodations to suit our wants and needs.
