I think the staff was nice but they kept raising her rent till it was more than her disability.

Stopped in to pick up a friend of mine who needed a ride to Church. Looks like a well-maintained and quite comfortable place to live. Certainly a top-notch location.

My dad James Kummer lived there from 3, 16 until his passing on 3, 17. It was like pulling teeth to get him into a facility but I finally put my foot down after another hospital visit and made it happen. He really did enjoy his time there and the friends he made of both staff, caregivers and residents. He was borderline of independent living and maybe needed assisted living but with the addition of a caregiver for certain days we made it work. He really thought he was private person but found out he enjoyed the company of many during lunch, supper and activities. The staff was first rate by all means. My dad lived frugally all his life and his postal retirement pension was enough to cover his small studio apartment. I miss him and wish I could still see him there but I have good memories of him there.

My Mom used to live there. They jacked her rent 14% after the first year and were not very nice to talk to about that problem. Some of the staff is wonderful and kind (thank you Derrick) Mom wasnt a huge fan of the food, but its a business on a budget that had an unenviable job of trying to please people that have cooked for themselves for decades, so a bit of a pass there. I wish the managers position had been filled with a more people type person, but that person is no longer there. All in all its a nice enough facility and gets a solid B- grade.

Sadly understaffed.

My 95 year old Grandmother has lived at Oxmoor Lodge for nearly 3 years. In that time, everything but the name has changed. It has been sold, is on its 3rd manager, and there seems to be a revolving door for the rest of the staff as well. Which doesnt give much of a sense of security. The building is nicely maintained for the most part, and they have several activities that my Grandmother enjoys. The biggest problem seems to be the food. Since staffing is a major issue, preparing and serving meals is a constant struggle. Even when half of the employees havent quit, or called in sick, the food is subpar. This is according to my Grandmother who is fairly independent, and walks down to the dinning room for all 3 meals a day. Frankly, if it were up to me she would move. Ive offered to do whatever needs to be done to get her into a place where she would feel more comfortable, and she chooses to give this place chance after chance. There are worse retirement communities Im sure, but Im sure that there are also better. UPDATE: 3 Months ago, (2 months after writing my initial review) my Grandmother finally decided to move. No one had cleaned her room in months, and the last time it was vacuumed she said it was because she had to bribe, or, tip one of the cleaning staff to do it. The final straw was when someone stole her pain medication. As evidence of how this place is run, the, owner finally responded to my review 2 weeks ago. They state in their response that a manger could be spoken to with issues in regards to the food. The funny thing is, Oxmoor Lodge currently doesnt have a manager overseeing anything at this time. Unfortunately, that is because he passed a few weeks before someone responded to my review, and the position still hasnt been filled. Ive included a picture of my Grandmothers toilet, taken the day we moved her out. The elderly people in your life deserve better than this.

Our loved one has lived at Oxmoor Lodge for many years. It is a lovely place with wonderful management who go out of their way to make residents feel a part of the community. Almost every time we visit, there is some type of entertainment in the atrium and plenty of parking. Also, Oxmoor Lodge is conveniently located in St. Matthews with a nice woodsy area in the back for bird-watching or taking a stroll.
