NeighborCare of Chapel Hill – Reviews
November 2024
Little the sales office told me to get me to move here has been the case. Then someone else tells you something different and you're left at loose ends. It's been a very distressing experience. Haven't unpacked yet and am not going to - already looking for somewhere to move to.

People have different thoughts about this community but I am thankful for them. Something has happened but they're working with me. Lindsey again came and help. So I appreciate all the staff.

Neighborcare of Chapel Hill is a fairly large Senior Community campus near Ben Davis HS on the Westside of Indy. Katherine White, RSC of building 2, operates & manages her one hundred plus residents with great care & concern. Katherine understands transitioning to a new community can be a delicate situation for new residents & their families alike. She prides herself in having the versatility to effectively communicate & work with families of all backgrounds (no circumstance is unique to her) There is certainly a communal experience in her building and she is dedicated to providing a welcoming atmosphere for all of her residents !

My mom is ate up with bed bugs & she is an emaculate clean living person, does not deserve the diregard. The apartment owners are not taking action to control the issue. Its just aweful ! I spray didnt work, its a continual issue = needs continual action.

I'll be honest, the only reason that I'm giving three stars is because of the new management team. The Property Manager (Misty) was given a herculean task when she was assigned to this property and told to "Fix" it. She is fighting fires on every front every day and is doing better than those managers that came before her. If Neighbor Care can give her a maintenance staff that is somewhat competent and continue to support her in her daily battles she'll turn this place around in no time. This property has a well deserved reputation as the final stop on a managers career path, but hopefully that will change. We the residents need to remember that this property didn't implode overnight and it can't and won't be repaired overnight. This is a process that will take time and during that process there will be bumps in the road and new problems will surface, that's unavoidable. You can't eat an elephant in one bite, and right now management has a very large elephant to eat. It's a one bite at a time process and I think that Misty is hungry and craving elephant.

NeighborCare is a great option for folks 50 & over. It's clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and there are many "extras" included such as fun events, transportation, and fitness classes. It is also the most affordable option in the area.

I have lived in this community for a year now. It is an enjoyable place. They have things in every building at different times you can do, cards, bingo, and other games. You don't have far to walk to get a hot meal there is a cafe on sight. There are also a clinic, physical therapist, hair salon, and a couple of exercise rooms. The people are friendly and try to help when needed.

My apartment was clean and beautiful, staff was friendly, they have convenient washing machines located on the 2nd floor. I love it here. Trash pickup conveniently at your front door. It's soooo lovely here.

NeighborCare is a great place to work, it’s a pleasure to move folks into clean safe affordable housing. We care about your well being not just provide housing. We have a food pantry and assist neighbors in getting CICOA boxes of food, when there is too much month and not enough food. Isolation can be a problem as you age, so we provide all types of activities for our folks to meet their neighbors and find a friend. Like our book club, chair yoga and visits to the local casinos. In the summer we have a concert series and bring out noted musicians like Gregg Bacon. I enjoy getting to dance with our residents which we call "Neighbors" on the job, what a fun place to work.

A great place to live. The staff is friendly and efficient. They really try to make you feel like you are family here. I wouldn't live anywhere else.
January 2023
A place you would not want to call home. I've worked here when it was Crestwood Village as a server. Then, I came back to work here after the name was changed to NeighborCare. I left in December of 2022, and have not regretted it since! It would take another review page to tell ALL the things that I've put up with while working there for BOTH companies. But if I had to guess, they probably changed their name because of being closed down due to mistreating their workers and having bed bugs and roach infestation (trust me when I say ROACH INFESTATION). The reviews about it are real and I would see roaches crawling on the dish washer machine as I ran dishes through and had to use a sanitizing bucket to swish them away!!), and nine times out of ten I never sat down in the chairs; not even on lunch break. They are still having the same issues (including the bed bugs, roaches and the hostile environment in the kitchen/café) and the kitchen staff including the kitchen manager, treats the residents as nursing home patients!! They use a lot of prepackaged and canned good foods and want call themselves proud of it! *smh*

I moved here last spring. I really enjoy the fact that is is 55 or older community. I also, enjoy that there are several things all over the campus that I can do. I go and play games with the people in building 1 even though I live in 6. It doesn't matter which building you live in if you might like the activity you can go an see if you can join.
December 2022
We have so much fun at our community! It feels like family here
December 2022
Moved in here when it was Crestwood...We have had several RSC'S on BlD 6.. The best one we have had here is Christina! She loves the residents cares for all. she takes time to listen to us even though we realize she is so busy running her office and the floors and the whole Bld.. All has gotten better in our Bld Christina has gotten rid of the drugs and drunks by the front door... she always has a smile for everone.. BLD 6 loves her and hope she stays forever

I have been living at NeighborCare of Chapel Hill every since April of this year. I can honestly say that I haven't had any problems what's so ever. I live in Building 6, its so nice and quiet no loud noise or anything. The housekeepers gets the building clean and smelling good. Whenever I had a problem in my apartment, maintenance Is there to fix it. So if you have someone that is 55 or over please come out and check out NeighborCare, and see for yourself how nice it is.

There are outside doors that do not lock. Drunks Gather in the lobby and bother the residence. They allow extra people to stay with the residents and do nothing about them living there illegal. If they do not believe a former police officer and a minister how are they going to believe in back a community crime watch. They do not back or support any of their residents except those who tells them lies.

Editing my review ... Misty took care of the issue and was very helpful in resolving it. She's getting things done here that weren't getting done before she took over. Thanks Misty.

I think this place is just fine. Being the size of a small town, there will always be issues like staffing, but they do their very best. Been here 1.5 years. Sure the shuttles "were" down for a bit due to thieves stealing the converters, but running on sched. now. I have a service dog who is always welcomed. My building Mgr. Melissa is tops and maintenance team is always on the ball. I recently asked for a new filter for my air conditioner and the next day I received a brand new unit with filters you can clean yourself in the sink. Never had to wait for a response on any issue. To top it off, my neighbors are wonderful! Activities galore as well.

My 91 year old mother lived here and this place is a nightmare. The boss lady is a nasty lady who enjoys making life miserable for the least little infraction. Do not entrust your loved ones to this horrible place. They make everything seem great, but that’s a ruse to get you to sign your loved one in here. Avoid!

My father has been living in this facility for 4 years. Since he started living there several changes have occurred including new management. I can't say new management has been a bad idea overall. However he battled Bed Bugs several time in 2 different apartments they. this seems to be better now in the last 6 months. For maintenance you must call several times, following up and reminding them (for months).. Mostly he gives up and attempts the repair himself. The cafe has had a hard go of it due to Covid - but seems to have leveled out recently. The food, is just ok - nothing great. But it helps to keep the from having to fix his own or dealing with groceries. Seem the only way to get the job completed is to raise your complaint to upper management. Since new management - they no longer have assisted living - which was a benefit if he need to transition. Only Independent. I read on their website something about their clinic. Totally unaware of this option, its cost or how good it is. My Dad is a veteran - so he receives care from the VA. Rooms are ok, could us some love. Has onsite laundry only on first floor - difficult for those that are on the 2nd and 3rd floors. elevator is small - no freight elevator for large items. I worry for him if there were a building emergency and needed to escape using the stairs. He enjoys the activities there - although he had to repair the poker table himself and the moved their gaming area a few times.

i have a serious problem here at neighborcare of chapel hill and the administrators of the complex will not give me the name of the people who are higher ups that might be able to help me resolve the problem
February 2021
I'm still new to the team here at NeighborCare, but I bear witness to the genuine atmosphere of a caring community. We work to keep our Neighbors happy, healthy, and living their best life by offering a variety of amenities and referral resources to fit folks' needs. I've never seen a property management approach their community with so much authentic energy, and the leadership here is unmatched.

My mom just moved in this month and she is very happy! I am was very impressed with the staff, they have been very welcoming and have made her transition very smooth. Her apartment has been redone with gorgeous kitchen cabinets, all new appliances and new countertops. There are all sorts of activities daily and they have a community bus that takes residents to different stores, banks and fun outings for those that cant drive. I highly recommend!

Very happy with the meals they have provided! The prices, quality, and quantity have been far better than what was previously available. Keep this all up and we will be happy and well fed.

This is a great place to work and live. Everyone is very friendly and professional. I have lived here for over 3 years and started working for this company just this year. They have gone above and beyond for my wife and I during this difficult time. I would recommend living and or working here to anyone that may be looking for a company that treats you like a friendly neighbor.

A great place to live! We are treated like family and the staff is excellent
November 2019
I have be so impressed by the caring staff at Crestwood West. They treat residents and visitors like family and are so warm and welcoming. They have so many events and activities that give you a chance to make new friends and mingle with the staff. I attend the Red Hats Club, Walking Club, play Bingo regularly and also attend the fun events in my building. This community has made my apartment feel like home. I cant imagine living somewhere else! The clubhouse offers many amenities: fitness center, ballroom, dining room where you can get breakfast lunch and dinner, game room, friendship Parlor where coffee and cookies are served for residents to socialize often and a beautiful screened in porch with rockers that over looks the courtyard. There is a clinic onsite where I was able to get my flu shot and visit when I wasnt feeling well and I have friends that participate in the OT, PT program post surgery and have had nothing but good things to say. I have attended many events in the ballroom and the activities staff does a fantastic job pulling off dinner dances, holiday parties and live music and dinner theater performances! We also have a pool! And parades for our veterans in the summer and fall. The best thing about living here is its peaceful and worry free as the maintenance has taken such good care of me and my home. I also love the free bus service that makes getting to my doctor visits, shopping, banking and pharmacy so easy and simple. I am so lucky to call Creastwood my home. The affordability for the amenities is amazing and I made friends that Im looking forward to sharing my retired years with. Come check it out! You wont regret it. The staff is wonderful and will help you find your perfect home.
September 2019
I moved my grandparents into Crestwood Village West and they love it! Their apartment is beautiful and there are so many things for them to do throughout the community. My grandma enjoys the Walking Club and my grandpa had joined up with other Veterans with the Veterans Club. Any type of maintenance request has been followed up with in a timely manner. I will say, I LOVE the fact they have everyone keep the patio lights on at night, it makes the entire complex feel more safe and lit up. I enjoy visiting them and having them closer to me and my family. I couldnt have asked for a better place for them to enjoy their golden years.
December 2018
Crestwood Village West is an excellent community. They are owned by the Justus Companies, and they treat their residents like family. You will not find a community that has more activities for the residents than Crestwood Village West. They also have a bus that runs several days per week going to multiple locations throughout the city. Most communities have a bus that goes to one or two locations one day a week. I would definitely recommend this for a loved one.
July 2018
Dad has lived here for almost 5 years now and loves it! The staff all know him by name and hes made so many new friends. Thank you Crestwood for taking such good care of him. I dont ever have to worry about him being bored or loney as he is always involved in one of the many activities and outings. We spent a great deal of time looking for a place for him and couldnt find a single community that offered as much as Crestwood did for an affordable price.
July 2018
We love how welcoming the community is. When you pull into the property you are greeted with Beautiful trees and flowers aligning the drive up to the main entrance. They dont have a deposit and will take you grocery shopping, so many pluses!
May 2018
Crestwood Village is a wonderful place to live! Free bus transportation, paid utilities and activities all included in the rent are just a few of the amenities that they offer. I have had several family members live at Crestwood and they consider it the best place they have ever lived. Would recommend to all my family and friends!
March 2018
The free bus transportation makes it easy to get out and about, especially for those who cant drive or dont have a vehicle. And Crestwood is one of the most affordable communities around town with no hidden fess or expensive deposits, so its easy for people on a fixed income! Plus the staff and owners really care about the residents and participate in activities with them. Everyone here is simply wonderful!
February 2018
Crestwood West is a lovely community with wonderful residents and staff. There isnt a day that goes by that isnt filled with fun activities, card games and the convenience of the community bus. Youll always be met with smiling faces, caring neighbors and staff.
January 2018
My mother lived there from 2009 to 2014 in both the independent and assisted living in three different apartments. Her independent living apartment on the third floor seemed very dated. The elevators were small, and it was often out of order. Her apartment on the first floor was quite different. It was huge. She really loved it. When she moved to the assisted living, it was a struggle, but the apartment there was beautiful. The complex was undergoing major renovations when my mother moved into a skilled care facility in 2014. The staff was extremely great. My mother treated them like family, and they treated her like their mother. They called me or my brother with concerns, and I believe cared very deeply for my mother and her well-being. My mother made tremendous, long-term friendships that she kept until she passed away. The community looks out for one another, and there are just some really truly wonderful people there. The Crestwood Club and Building 4 are beautiful. Theyve really done a great job there. My mom didnt always like the food they served. There were also some assorted security issues while my mom was there. She claimed she lost some things out of her apartment (never could tell if she was forgetful or they were actually stolen), and a television was stolen from one of the common areas. Common area security cameras might have been installed by now, but they were needed. All-in-all, my mother had a very positive experience at Crestwood, and I firmly believe it extended her life. The only reason I didnt give it five stars was some of the maintenance and security issues. Balanced out with all the positives my mother received from her time in the community, I would have to say that I do recommend the place. By-and-large, the community is full of residents and staff that care about each other and do wonderful things for people that really need it...like my mother.
