Addington Place of Edwardsville – Reviews
I wish I could give Addington Place of Edwardsville 10 stars. Before I start telling you all about this wonderful location, I would like to apologize for not being able to list every person individually by name who helped us or works with Mom. I would literally have to name every staff member who works in the “A” neighborhood, as well as all the Admin staff, Cooking staff, etc. So sorry I can’t name you all, but every one of you are amazing and go above and beyond for your residents! We found Addington Place of Edwardsville when we needed to move my mom into a different assisted living facility. The location where she had been living in St. Louis didn’t have memory care, and she was in need of a higher level of care. Wanting to move her closer to us, we visited multiple locations in the Edwardsville area. This was by far the best location! The building and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. We fell in love with Addington during our first visit. The whole process started with Annie Eads. She is amazing. There was no pressure to make a quick decision, or use of tricky sales techniques. During our initial visit, she walked us through the entire process. Once we decided Addington would be our choice, Annie made sure everything went smoothly. Even though we ran into a few hiccups with Mom’s health, Annie was there for us. EVERYONE here has been amazing. Mom has been at Addington for almost two months. During that time, we haven’t found one thing wrong with this location. Everyone is pleasant and genuinely appears to love their job. Our first week here, Courtney met with us to check on our needs and make sure everything was going well. She provided direct numbers for different staff members we might need in the future. The nursing and assistant staff have been amazing. They communicate well with us to make sure we are able to get things for Mom in a timely fashion. All of the assistants and nursing staff are so pleasant and friendly. They each show a true concern and care for their residents. The kitchen and maintenance staff are amazing as well. While moving in, I was talking to Annie about Mom's TV. She mentioned something to Patrick in maintenance, who had it hung and set up before we got Mom to her room. The Chef, who goes by Frog, is amazing. Along with making fantastic meals, he has personally helped me out on multiple occasions. For instance, I needed assistance on a Saturday and was looking for someone to help me. Frog saw me walking down the hallway and stopped to see how things were going. When I said I needed help with an item in Mom’s room, he didn’t hesitate to offer assistance. He could have easily passed me off to other staff, but he just jumped on the opportunity to help. These are just a few examples of how the staff make everyone feel like family at Addington! If you are looking for a memory care location, this is definitely the place to go in Edwardsville. Thank you to David, the facility director, and all of his staff, for being so amazing and making us all feel like we are part of the Addington family!
My Mom has lived at Addington Place for almost 2 years. They worked very diligently throughout the pandemic to keep the residents well. Even if it meant not being able to visit, I was grateful that they kept everyone safe. My Mom loves her apartment, she loves the people that work there, and she always says the food is great. The other thing that is most important to me, besides my Mom’s happiness and comfort, is the fact that if an issue does arise, Management will listen and accommodate your wishes to make your loved one secure. It’s very important to be an active participant in your loved ones living arrangement and care. We have finally found Moms permanent residence and couldn’t be more pleased.
I cannot say enough about Cedarhurst Memory Care in Edwardsville Illinois. The care my aunt received over a 4+ year period of time was outstanding .. not only in the level of care for her physical needs during her journey with dementia, but also in the level of compassion and genuine love shown to her and to our family as well. Everyone at Cedarhurst went above and beyond in their care and concern for her: the amazing caregivers and nursing staff, the truly wonderful administrators, the exceptional receptionist who is now like family, and the amazing staff beautician who always made my aunt look and feel beautiful ... literally everyone who works there. The minute I walked into Cedarhurst over four years ago .. when I was on my mission to find the very best place for my aunt .. I instantly felt that I had found it! And I had. I didnt know then how many stages of dementia and changes to her personality she would go through, nor how important it would be that her caregivers were trained by the Alzheimers Association ... but I sure know now just how important that is. I saw firsthand how they worked with her .. physically and mentally .. to keep her active and engaged. And this past November, when she declined rapidly and eventually passed, I continued to see just how compassionate and genuinely loving EVERYONE at Cedarhurst was to her, and as typical, to our family as wellwill never forget all that Cedarhurst did for my aunt and it is with heartfelt thanks and sincere gratitude that we will always remember everyone who makes Cedarhurst the amazing place that it is. We highly, and without reservation, recommend Cedarhurst Memory Care of Edwardsville Illinois.
This is the best place in the area. The staff are fantastic. They treat your loved one as a family member which brings great comfort.
Our mother received outstanding care at Cedarhurst. The staff goes above and beyond for both family and residents. The facility is beautiful and clean. Residents are treated well and staff accommodates residents well while ensuring they are safe at all times.
Loving care and concern that all the staff show every single day for all in their care!!!!
Sharon ( B neighborhood) can help any of the residents with the various problems that come up.
Mom was living with my brother in rural New Hampshire when she was diagnosed with dementia. Like the 99% of people who now find themselves as a caregiver to a loved one with dementia, neither of us had any training or experience dealing with this disease. He worked full time and I was halfway across the country, so it didnt take us very long to realize that being loving and attentive sons was not enough to keep her safe and healthy.I was fortunate enough to be in the healthcare industry in Metro East Illinois and knew my way around the world of long term care solutions in the area and even more fortunate to know the people who ran the memory care communities. My brother and mom flew out and we toured several and after a couple long and difficult days my brother and I both agreed that Cedarhurst Edwardsville was the clear choice . It was small and personal but large enough for her not to feel too closed in. She was an avid walker and the layout accommodated her restlessness. I ate several meals there and the food was always good and was served homestyle. The staff was friendly, passionate and attentive to her needs as well as to her neighbors. My job afforded me the luxury of being able stop by and visit during all hours of the day, so I could see first hand what the staffing was, how clean the accommodations were and what the staff had residents doing during the day. I made dozens and dozens of drop bys while she was there and never left wondering if she was safe or in good hands. Did I feel guilty that she couldnt be back in one of our homes? Of course. Was I afraid of what dementia would look like tomorrow, next week, next month? Of course. More importantly did my family and I have the peace of mind that she was in as safe and caring of an environment as possible? Thank goodness we didf you find yourself caring for a spouse or family member with dementia, my heart goes out to you. You have hard decisions and realities to face, but understand that there are people like the staff at Cedarhurst that are ready to help you every step of the way until you are ready to take the next step. Please remember that whether its you or someone at a memory care community taking care of your loved one, it is hard and often thankless work. Its not easy trusting others with the care of your spouse or parent, but its succes they have that leads to being an industry leader. Do your due diligence and visit several communities to see what feels right. Ask a lot of questions and ask for references. Consider this my reference for Cedarhust Edwardsville.
I have found the staff at Cedarhurst to be very helpful and attentive to the needs of their residents and families. They truly have a heart for our seniors and provide great caring and support at what can be a challenging time for a family.
What a wonderful facility for a loved one! My mom didnt have memory problems but she was 100 when I brought her there - she had macular with very pool eyesight and couldnt walk long distances anymore with her walker. The close proximity of her apartment to the dining area and activities was perfect for her. Lots of activities for her to enjoy with her poor vision and the staff took care of her like she was their own mother. When moms time came for Hospice, she was able to stay in her apartment under hospice care and the facility has a nursing staff along with a nurse on call at night. A physician comes to the facility so your loved one will get complete care at Cedarhurst.
You dont have to travel to St Louis to get top care here in the Metro East. I am pleased with the caliber of programs offered such as the captivating music therapy. The talent is obvious with the selection of era appropriate songs and all the participation. Our Hospice of Southern Illinois nursing staff praise the attentive and friendly staff, particularly Deanna and Sharon. We love partnering with Cedarhurst.I would be remiss if I failed to comment on the Energizer Bunny Tess, who wears her passion for her residents proudly, encouraging her coworkers by her example.Well done Cedarhurst!
Cedarhurst of Edwardsville is an excellent memory care facility. Excellent staff that really cares about mental and physical well being of the residents. They tailor individualized support programs from each resident. My 89 year old mother with Alzheimers is well cared for.
Cedarhurst has wonderful, careful and patient caregivers. I am pleased to know that my mother is well cared for when I cannot be there. I recommend this facility to any family that has a loved one with Dementia or Alzheimers.
Cedarhurst has made the process of moving our mom into assisted living - memory care much easier then expected. The staff is amazing. The most important part to us: We know she is in good hands with caring staff when we arent around. I highly recommend CedarHurst to anyone who is looking into memory care for their loved ones.
My mom couldnt have received better or more loving care. Everyone -- Management, nursing, caregiving, therapy, salon, kitchen and housekeeping staff -- were all wonderful to her.
My grandpa lived here for a year before passing away last February. He received so much love and attention from all the staff we were very happy. We want to especially thank Gay Simpson LPN and our caregiver Paige for sitting through the night with my mom during his passing. Thanks to all.
Words cannot express how wonderful these people are. The facility is beautiful but does not begin to compare to the care given. My mom spent her last few months here and the staff here loved and cared for her as if she was their own. Truly an absolute blessing in every way to see how she was cared for with love, respect and dignity. They were caregivers that became family and will never be forgotten by my family.
Nice facility and nice staff that I have meet so far. I do a sermon there once a month and love it.
Cedarhurst of Edwardsville is an amazing facility and home for your loved ones. My father moved in six months ago and received the utmost loving care up to the day he passed away in late March! The whole staff including the administrator, the nurses, and caregivers are an amazing group of people dedicated to their residents and individual needs. I highly recommend Cedarhurst of Edwardsville a home for your loved ones suffering from any kind of memory deficit and needing extra special care and safe environment! Thank you Cedarhurst for all you did for my father while in your care! Sincerely, Melanie DeLancey5 stars
