Safe Haven is a wonderful place if you are looking for privacy and a smaller home feeling. With only 9 residence rooms, it's more like living in a home with roommates. The staff is caring and friendly, and the home is kept clean and cheery. It is definitely an assisted living place, not a care center. They often only have one person there, and the nurse is not necessarily there every day, but she is on call. It is perfect for people who what to be independent, but would like help with things like meals, laundry, and light cleaning. I didn't rate it high in core services and activities only because there are so few residence, that it is hard to get a good group together for activities, but they do try hard to do crafts and family dinners for holidays and other occasions and are very accommodating to the desires of the residence. The rooms are not large, but they are private (even for medicaid residence) which is a big plus. All in all, if you're looking for light assistance in a caring friendly home-like environment, this is the place for you. If you're looking for a high level of assistance or nursing care, this is not the place for you.
