Having to put your loved one in an assisted facility is one of the hardest things you will ever have to do. It makes it even harder when you dont live near them. When it was time for use to put my parents in an assisted living facility, my brother found one in Muscatine, Sunnybrook. They had nice apartments, common areas, activities, a work shop area for my dad. The day came and we were still nervous and scared but the Sunnybrook team (Megan and Megan) were there for us throughout the whole thing and went above and beyond to help us. It has now been about 10 months and my parents have settled into a somewhat normal routine. My dad helps with a lot of the planting of flowers and plants and my mom will help him. My mom really likes to socialize so she will go down to visit with the ladies, put puzzles together, watch a good movie on Sunday afternoon with popcorn. Sunnybrook always has something special going on and things to do to keep the residents entertained and busy. We are so blessed for everyone who works at Sunnybrook to make everything special for my parents. I dont know what we would have done without them. When we transitioned my parents to Sunnybrook, they all helped with the difficult transition. They took care of everything and were with us every step of the way. They continue to keep us updated about our parents and we love the care and attention they provide! The facility is really nice and clean and they provide alot activities to keep everyone entertained! The food is great as well!!

One of my dearest friends is Barb Fick, she shared with me how Sunny Brook is such a charitable organization and along with excellent care of residents the staff are professional and caring. I walked in and saw the beautiful facility, the residents were smiling and actively engaging in a game of Bingo. Cognitive activities stimulate and nourish neuronal dendrites, yet the residents enjoyed the game and staff. What a wonderful facility and also the coordination of fun activities for the residents. We had checked into many of the Assisted Living facilities in the area and no place could compare to the atmosphere we found at Sunnybrook in Muscatine. Megan Johnson and Megan Francis met with us whenever we had any questions or concerns and were so patient with my parents when there were second thoughts or postponing for a later arrival. My parents are more active since moving to Sunnybrook and we know they are getting the care and attention from the excellent staff. They treat every resident like they are a member of their own family! And when we go out for visits, we are also treated in the same manner from every single member of Sunnybrooks staff!

I am involved with the Riding for Success program - a therapeutic horseback riding program for clients with cognitive, physical or emotional needs. Sunnybrook has been so supportive of our program. First, we were invited in to meet and talk to the residents at Sunnybrook about our program. Then they came to visit us!! What a fun morning getting to share our horses and hear how the residents were involved with horses during their younger days. Our program is a nonprofit and when Sunnybrook had us as the donor from the Lunch for a Cause - what a huge surprise to be given 100% of the proceeds. We were given over $900!!! Couldnt believe it! What a special surprise. Our equipment we use on the horses is so expensive; therefore the donation will be put toward the purchase of a special needs saddle, which is $5000!!! We hope to continue our relationship with Sunnybrook by having the residents visit our program again. Sunnybrook has such a friendly and welcoming staff - it is a joy be a small part of their community. Jenny Paetz

We are so glad we found Sunnybrook as the place for Mom to relocate in 2017. Now we dont worry about her living alone and caring for the house and yard on her own, especially in winter. Mom has commented she feels safe at Sunnybrook, enjoys having lots of people to talk to and appreciates the weekly religious services. Mom reports that the food is good (especially the desserts) and theres always coffee when she wants it. And lastly, Mom gets to pursue her lifelong hobby of music by playing the piano in the lobby every day which also helps her memory and stamina. Sunnybrook was definitely a great choice for Mom.

Mom really enjoys Sunnybrook. It has been a good transition from living alone to living in a community. She has made friends. We really appreciate how the staff and other residents look out for each other and care about how others are doing. Mom enjoys the food and participates in activities. It's cute how the residents decorate their entry doors for the seasons. Many leave their doors open and enjoy to wave and say hello if they are in their rooms.

This building has always been a wonderful, bright, loving home away from home for me. I have worked here for the last 5 years and have enjoyed being apart of this community of residents and staff. I am excited to get up and come to work everyday. Sunnybrook of Muscatine rocks!

The community is very well maintained and cared for. Apartments are spacious and bright. Staff are positive and provide assistance as needed. Tenants have opportunities for social contact as well as privacy. There is a exercise program planned by a Certified Personal Trainer.

This community is bright and welcoming as soon as you walk through the doors. Residents are out of their apartments, engaging in conversation and everyone looks happy!
