The decision of moving a family member to assisted living is very difficult for any family. We wanted our mother to be as independent as possible but knew that staying in her home, even with us taking care of her 24/7 was no longer working. Her world was getting smaller and smaller especially during the pandemic. After visiting and interviewing many other facilities, we can truly say that Ilima at Leihano is the best. The entire staff is kind, caring, knowledgeable and respectful. The nurses and resident assistants are well trained and dedicated to providing the best care. Mark Tsuda, the director has created a happy and healthy environment for both the staff and the residents. The positive attitude of the staff is reflected in their smiles as they care for our mother with kindness and compassion. Security and cleanliness are a top priority. Her one bedroom apartment is spacious and has all of the comforts of home including a kitchen with a full size refrigerator. The chef creates tasty meals keeping the local culture and various ethnicities in mind. The best thing about Ilima at Leihano are the people working as a team to make our mother's life better.

Ilima at Leihano has been a true blessing for my mother-n-law. The kind and patient attitude of the staff comes through in every aspect of the residents' lives from the dining room to the wellness activities to the administrative staff. There is a genuineness to the care given to the residents that was not experienced at previous residences.

My parents arrived there in 2016. They both have limitations including blindness and hard of hearing. Ilima Administration, Mark and Valerie have been nothing but accommodating. The staff have been caring and helpful especially while my father struggled with stage 4 cancer and radiation treatments. They have been doing the best they can during this pandemic as well. We are grateful to have such a facility in Kapolei!

Giving up his independence was a struggle for my father, but balancing his safety and his happiness was something the Ilima at Leihano understood very well. The care and attention by the staff is excellent and made this important transition very smooth for my father and our family. I will recommend them to others.

My Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law moved here about 4 months ago. Its a very nice facility. The apartments have more storage space than any other senior living apartments on the island. Their apartment has a nice little private Lanai with a gate that opens up onto the garden and the swimming pool. Every single staff member has been unfailingly polite and friendly, and every single staff member knows my in laws names, which apartment is theirs, etc. I feel relieved knowing the folks at Ilima are looking after our folks. Couldnt ask for a better place.

My sister and I have peace of mind with our mom living in the Memory Care section at Ilima. She can be challenging but the staff always treats her with grace and kindness! She receives wonderful care. I highly recommend this senior living community!

Spent the last two weeks 5-14-5-29-19)visiting my parents here(they moved in in June 2018)my mom was very sick and sadly passed away...Mark Tsuda, Val and the entire staff were so supportive and helpful in every way! My dad is still living there, I feel so lucky that he has such love and support while continuing to live there. This is a wonderful Senior Living community!

If you are looking for a quality assisted living home with great activities for your parents and loved ones, look no further! My mother has dementia and finding the right assisted living home for her was very important for my sister and I. Mark Tsuda, Executive Director, has been instrumental in helping my mother transition into her new home. He and Valerie Rickard, Director of Resident Relations, are so patient and kind to my mom every time she asks to speak to either of them. She often asks the same question and has the same concerns day after day, and they respond as if it was the first time she was sitting in their office. Mark and Valerie know every resident personally and were able to give me and my family information about my mothers daily routine in detail. Additionally, the rest of the staff personally greet my mom and her friends by name. They are also all very patient with my mom, helping her find her room and taking the time to have conversations with her. Some employees that are particularly close to my mother are Maribelle, the head of the nurses station, Chef Royce, Tom (the Restaurant Manager), and Enan Agnes. Lastly, the activities provided for the residents are absolutely amazing! Before my mother moved into Ilima, she would sit at her couch, watch TV and read newspapers. Now, she is always at activities, movies and craft making. She also has a crew that she plays cards with after every meal. It is so comforting to know that she is being social with other people everyday. Ilima gives me peace of mind knowing that my mother is being well cared for.

Just today, our first grader was performing with their choir for the residents and there was the most outrageous downpour! The staff welcomed all of our families and small children into their home, offering everyone infused water, juice and even shared their November birthday cake with all. I visit this facility as an RN and they are always wonderful but today was so great I had to leave a review. Aloha Ilima ??

Many times people are more likely write reviews when they are unhappy, however I am writing to say that Ilima at Leihano has set a new standard of excellence for assisted living in Hawaii. While no facility is perfect, they do their best to live their mission and have exceeded my expectations. If you are over 62 and want to live the good life, it is worth the drive to check out.

A place that I have never worried if my parent was unsafe, being taken advantage of, neglected, or treated poorly - all so very important to me. But more than that, the staff are tremendously caring, upbeat, kind, patient, and understanding (true, not just saying it). I visit quite a bit and see a lot and what I observe is a supportive and caring environment. The food is good, ordered off a menu each day in a nice dining room like a restaurant with servers, outdoor seating area by the pool, and the food prepared by chefs. Yes, chefs! Lots of activities to choose from each day (arts, crafts, card games, board games, presentations, golf, bowling, exercise, cooking class, etc.), an exercise room, entertainment at Happy Hour each week, and smiles with good moods from all the staff. Lots of laughter too! I am always welcomed and free to participate at any time with my parent in activities. What few minor problems we had were addressed immediately. There is a large, shaded lanai, a lounge, and small cafe area. Love this place!

Ilima at Leihano has been a blessing to my mom and our family. Since moving there the first of June, this is the happiest I've seen her in months. All the staff carries the spirit of Aloha here. They tend to their tenants and their families. They provide a place where the residents feel comfortable and are well taken care of. Anytime there is a need they respond to it quickly and take care of it immediately. The staff take care of each other and are always helping one another out. The food is amazing and of five star quality. The activities they provide are fun and catered to the residents interest. They will knock on their doors to come and join the activities throughout the day. They really get to know each of the residents and try to get them involved everyday. I am at peace now that when I am at work, that my mom is safe and happy. This is a place where God has placed his presence. Kim Ah Soon
