Home Instead Senior Care – Reviews
We needed home care for my mother post op on very short notice. Ty Bedford the office manager came to our home that same day for an assessment and three days later for a 3 hour detailed briefing. She was secured an extremely attentive, personable, reliable, diligent group of aides. Ericcka and Erion personally came to train them. Their responsiveness, attention to detail, reliability and professionalism is top rate. It was a tremendous relief to have my mom so well cared for.
Home Instead is a well organized company. All the staff is very helpful and care very much for their employees. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a job.
This is my first time working as a caregiver and I love it. All the staff here are great. The thing I like most, is the way they communicate. It makes me feel very secure when doing my job. I know if anything happens, that I will be able to get into contact with the office right away. Also, they are very organized which helps when trying to build your schedule. Another great thing is if youre not confident with doing a certain task thats needed for your client, one of the staff, Ericcka or Erion are the ones that have helped me, will come and train you in how to do the task. They work right along side you, and will work with you until you feel confident. Overall great place to work!! 10 out of 10!
The leadership of the company and the help I received following my injury is beyond reproach and so commendable that I think such compassion to be shared in our community would be so nice for Hawaii. I recommend others take note!
From my first contact with Home Instead to now, Home Instead has been very helpful, understanding and accommodating. We have another caregiving service in place, but they were unable to fill all of our needs and they recommended that we get another service in place to help fill the shifts. I searched the internet for another caregiving service and I am happy that I came across Home Instead. When Home Instead went to my dads house for the initial assessment, the manager and her team were compassionate, understanding and wanting what was best for my dad. Whats great about Home Instead is that my dad has a team of caregivers who fill his shifts. When a caregiver is unable to make their shift, Home Instead will inform me of who will take their place. Home Insteads services are seamless and stress free for us. Home Insteads caregivers are caring, compassionate and understanding of my dads needs and situation. Home Insteads office is amazing too. When I call, they always try to answer my questions or transfer me to the appropriate person and if they need to call me back, they always get back to me before the end of the day. Their after hour service is great too--answers my questions or will get back to me if necessary. We are very satisfied with Home Instead and would highly recommend them.
My experience with this company is great! Very friendly and helpful staff especially Justine C. Who helped me speed up my hiring process. Easy to communicate staffs takes time to answer my questions. Thank you all!!!
Home Instead has been a good place to work. Our recruitment and engagement coordinator Justine Cheang is always very helpful and efficient, and takes time to explain clearly any details of client assignments and all other work related requirements. Clients also have good things to say about her.
After working with 4 different care agencies over the past few years my overall assessment is that Home Instead is one of the better agencies on the island, with a few caveats.Paul is the owner and though he lives in California he has been involved and available always from day one, and hires great people to run this operation. Ty and Ande especially we have found to be nearly always responsive and organized, often going above and beyond. Many agencies only have one contact person, Home Instead provides a team, so that you are never left hanging. You want foremost to know you can count on the staff in charge to make sure the needs of your loved one are addressed and that the care plan and any important changes are clearly and quickly communicated to caregivers. AND of course that they have a deep enough bench of qualified caregivers (Most agencies do not!) Overall the people they have sent to care for my Mom have been wonderful and the staff always professional. Now the caveats1. NO DIRECT CAREGIVER COMMUNICATION: The downside of working with agencies is that most will NOT allow you to communicate directly with your loved ones caregiver, except while they are physically on the premises working, on your phone, not their cell. Need to get an urgent message to a caregiver? Or send a photo, text or document by cell? Good luck. All has to go via staff. And when that second hand relay doesnt work it can be just a hassle or hazardous i.e. surgery cancelled because caregiver didnt get message that mom not supposed to eat tomorrow morning. (almost happened with another agency2. REPORTING: Want to hear how your LOs day went, if they fell, were upset by something, agitated, hurt? Caregivers keep a log of what happened during their shift, which is helpful for the next caregiver arriving, but if you arent regularly at your loved ones house to review it, or live elsewhere, the log is useless as a reporting device for family. There is an online portal where caregivers check off tasks performed. But it is pretty rudimentary. Staff came up with a workaround for us, allowing us to create our own checklist but still not as good as getting a phone call post shift to just say- hey, Mom was really depressed today Or the bank called and needs her signature on an important document, Or Mom may have just given $10,000 away over the phone (Yes, this happened. Thankfully when her private caregiver was there who texted us ASAP to alert us3. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH KAT TRILLES: Most of Home Insteads caregivers have been great but Kat was a nightmare. Want to be regularly lectured about how its YOUR JOB to take care of your own mother? Or alternately be told to stop meddling, chill out when you bring up an important task she overlooked (i,e. Moms hearing aids again not turned on so she could not hear all day)? Dont mind if Kat shrugs and says oh well, sorry, when you watch your Moms fitness trainer arrive and your Mom walk out in just her bra because Kat failed to help her get dressed? Then youll do great with Kat. She refused to work as part of a team with our other caregivers. Had a car, but she didnt like the hassle of having to walk to get her car to take mom places so we ended up having to cancel all appointments during Kats a.m. hours, and shift those to her afternoon caregivers. She was diligent about laundry and dishes, but passive about most other things. Anything we asked her to do- make sure mom is drinking enough water, taking a shower, going for a walk, etc she would just roll her eyes and say, cant make her do stuff. She seemed more comfortable acting as maid more than companion. She did have a nice sense of humor with Mom, which Mom enjoyed, but shes probably best with a mostly nonverbal client who just needs to be cleaned up after and fed, and with a family who are happy to let her run her own show without any input.
This is my first caregiver job and I love it! The staff are friendly and always willing to help you out. The hiring process was very enjoyable because of their recruitment and engagement coordinator, Justine. She is both diligent and a delight to talk to and work with. I know if I ever have any questions or concerns I feel comfortable going to Justine. I highly recommend working for this company!
Great company to work for!
I enjoy working with Home Instead. I believe that this is a good company to work for. The staff is friendly and are quick to answer any questions or concerns either about your client d or or you as a caregiver.I have interacted with Justine both at. The office and on the phone and she is courteous, helpful and efficient in doing her job.
I am an employee here and the hiring process is very efficient, communication is great, and they care a lot about the employees and clients.Justine, the Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator, has been communicating with me from the start. She was the one who hired me and made sure the process went very smoothly. She also makes sure that as a caregiver, I am kept up-to-date and able to voice concerns during the satisfaction surveys via phone call.
