I have been working at Barkley Place for 12 years, and I love it! I look forward to going to work everyday in an environment that strives to make people happy. The residents and my co workers feel like a large, happy extended family.

My Mother has been at Barkley Place for 7 years now and she couldn’t not be happier. She celebrated her 100th birthday recently and I truly believe the care she has received there has played a part in her longevity. As she is wheelchair bound she requires some additional care and the staff so is careful and understanding. I am there fairly often and see firsthand how staff knows her well and understands how to best meet her needs. As you might imagine breakfast, lunch and dinner are very important to those in assisted and independent living centers and mom raves about the food at Barkley Place. As I do eat with her on occasion and I would agree the food is very good. Dining room staff knows exactly what she drinks and her other favorites. The Executive Director Tina Keating is one of the most dedicated people I know when it comes to their job. I’m so impressed that she has managed over last 2 years with Covid to get Barkley Place thorough with minor issues. I whole heartedly recommend Barkley Place if you are looking for a place for a loved one.

My mom moved into Barkley Place in May 2021 and it has been the best decision. She is so happy. She participates in all the activities and has made friends easily. The staff is incredible. Many of the staff have been there for years, which made us feel comfortable knowing the staff is happy working at Barkley place too. We didn't even consider another facility.

We moved into Barkley Place 3 months ago and have never been happier! The rooms are beautiful. The courtyard is outstanding! The food is wonderful. If we choose, we can participate in numerous physical activities that are healthy. Many activities are just plain fun! The ability to do PT right in the facility is wonderful! Several doctors come to Barkley Place, so the need to go to them is no longer necessary. Barkley Place has eased the difficulties of getting older. This was one of the best decisions that we ever made. “Peace of mind” is wonderful. Mary

Mother has been very content living at Barkley Place during the last seven years and the treatment she receives from the staff. She has especially enjoyed the meals and dining with friends. During the COVID lockdown period all meals were served in her apartment and she adjusted well to the experience. We particularly commend corporate Merrill Gardens on their intermittent informational videos by Tana Gall and the in-house and personal communications sent to us by Tina Keating, Senior General Mgr of Barkley Place.

My mother, Shirley Reaves is interested in moving to Barkley Place. She has a friend Roxanne that stays there. Shirley moved March 3years ago from Ft. Myers, to be near me in Dillon SC. She is now staying at Scotia Village, Laurinburg, NC. She has never been happy here, she wants to move back. She needs medication assistance, she is needing more help than Independent Living. I believe Assisted is what she needs. But open to suggestions. Thank you. Patti McInnis

After my mother died we looked for a place my father could spend his remaining days in a comfortable friendly environment. We searched most of the Senior Living Places in Fort Myers and decided Barkley Place was the best choice. We were right, the staff was great, food was good, enough activities, my father made many friends during his time at Barkley Place . Had it not been for the COVID virus essentially making prisoners of the Senior Citizen population my father would still be having a great time with his friends at Barkley Place. I used to visit him every Friday we both looked forward to the time, the staff always greeted me like I was a member of their family and kept me informed whenever my father had issues. I would recommend Barkley Place to anyone looking for a Senior Living Facility that does not look, smell, or act like a nursing home, but a great place to live with a very attentive staff. My Thanks to all the Staff.

Barkley Place is a wonderful place to feel comfortable with placing a parent or loved one. My mother lived there for four years, and the staff watched over her as if she was their own mother. My husband and I spent many holidays as my mothers guests for dinners and-or entertainment. There were always great activities happening for her to enjoy. When my mother passed away, the staff couldnt have been more helpful or caring.Kathy Balota (daughter of Irene Andritsch)

My dad and stepmom have lived here and has been an enjoyable experience for both of them and those of us visiting them. The staff always seems to go out of their way to make everything as pleasant as possible. Will recommend Barkley Place to anyone looking for either independent or assisted living in SW Florida. Do yourself and your folks a favor and check this place out before making that big decision..
