It's been a year since my mother moved into the Oakmont Redwood City, and I am thoroughly impressed with the care she has received. The staff are not only professional but also genuinely compassionate, ensuring that my mother feels valued and well cared for. The facilities are well-maintained and offer a comfortable, and welcoming environment. Overall, we couldn't be more pleased with the level of attention and dedication provided by everyone here.

The change from Sunrise to Oakmont has been a significant improvement. I completely agree with the harsh reviews of Sunrise Senior Living, and a year ago, I also would have rated them at 2.8 out of 5 stars; in other words they barely met my lowest expectations. The facility was still new and the resident count was low. I don't feel like they ever blossomed. But under Oakmont's management the improvements have been significant. The kitchen and wait staff are head and shoulders better. Shawn, the Front of the House supervisor has made some great changes. The food is professionally prepared by a chef who changes the menu often. Meals are served while they're still hot by kind staff who are sympathetic to the challenges of the residents. The facilities are new and beautiful. It doesn't feel, like a nursing home—more like an upscale boutique hotel. It's always been spotless and my mom's room is always clean. The Health Services Department is more communicative and effective now. I feel confident that my mom is in good hands. Letty, the Activity Director arranges interesting, fun things to do on the regular. As a result, the social scene is vibrant and my mom has friends and genuinely enjoys herself. They have live music weekly and serve drinks and refreshments. There are trips to museums, outings to an ice cream parlor, July 4th parades, ball games, picnics in the park, BBQs on the terrace, gardening club...and more. There are many decent, caring staff at Oakmont. Natalie, Alexa, Melvin, June, Spencer, Maria, Renita, Tere, and others all do an excellent job. My mom is in the Assisted Living side and she's mostly capable of looking after herself. She's got dementia and needs someone to administer her medications. She does her own laundry and can dress herself and do her own body care. I'd say Assisted Living is the perfect term for the level of care she gets. I can't vouch for the level of care in the Memory Care section. Some criticisms: -There's still no voicemail system in place, so it can be hard to leave a message for staff. You have to call the concierge and leave a message and then hope that you don't miss the call when they call you back. Otherwise, you're back to leaving another message. -Getting medical samples to the lab is difficult if you don't live in the area. -The price is high, but so is everything in the SF Bay Area.

We have had our parents here for over a year now. It was a hard transition moving them from their life of independence to assisted living. Nicole C has been with us every step of the way from our first visit to move in days to the present. She has been a huge support to our family and parents. And many other staff also have shown consistent professionalism, kindness and compassion. Letty, Ferdi, Gio , Anna and others. Management to general staff are always helpful and responsive. Oakmont has tons of activities keeping our parents busy and engaged. They also take them on a variety of weekly outings to parks, museums and lunches. They have access to a beautiful garden area and they bring in music and entertainment for the residents. Our parents compliment the food and service provided by staff. We like how staff interacts with the residents and each other. Thank you Oakmont!

This part of life can be very challenging, for the individual as well as family and friends. We had a year or so of experience behind us when we started looking to move to this area, and researched thoroughly trying to find the best fit because we knew that details could really help with this transition. They led us to choose Sunrise of Redwood City. The building is brand new, immaculately clean, spacious, well lit, and nicely appointed, including convenient parking and outdoor areas to enjoy. They offer a lot of engaging activities, and a progression of services including memory care. We've been with them for about a year now, and they've more than met our expectations. The staff has been friendly, supportive, professional and encouraging throughout. The community "vibe" is pleasant, relaxed and comforting. For us, these details have made a big difference.

The team members are great and invested in caring for the residents. The new facilities can't be beat! Staff is very responsive to feedback and inquiries. [This was a review of Sunrise which was taken over by Oakmont on 7-1-23.]

When our family first visited Sunrise of Redwood City as a potential home for a close family member who had suffered a stroke, we were immediately struck by the professionalism, committed engagement, and genuine warmth of the senior management. Choosing this Sunrise location became an easy decision for us. Almost one year later we couldn't be more impressed with the quality of the facilities, and the genuine caring that the entire staff there - from top to bottom - exhibits day in and day out. The whole team, starting with the Executive Director herself, is actively engaged with the residents on a regular basis. Above all, our family member who lives there now considers it her home, and has already made numerous friends with other residents. As she herself puts it in the most positive way, "They can't do enough for me!" Indeed, the team there works tirelessly - and lovingly - to support her in every way possible, including personal care, assistance with medical care, transport to medical appointments, and frequent as well as responsive interaction with us as family members. Both the staff and the residents experience their environment as a true community, and succeed in their efforts to make the residents' family members feel like they are part of that community through holiday get togethers, frequent communication, and a feeling of being welcome. Anyone considering Sunrise of Redwood City for a loved one who needs care can be confident that they would be making a very good choice indeed.
