My parents were among the first to transition to Vivante on The Coast assisted living when it first opened several years ago. They lived on the assisted side for a few years before a necessary transition to memory care within The Shores. My parents were both extremely pleased with their experiences on the assisted side and - especially - the level of personal attention paid them by all members of staff. TLDR: The experiences my parents had in the years they lived at Vivante were very good. I am their only child and I did not/do not live in close proximity. I appreciated knowing that my parents were safe in the event anything was needed. I also appreciated that management kept tabs on their residents and alerted me when one of my parents started showing outward signs that the time had come to transition into memory care. At that point, my biggest concern was that both my parents be allowed to make the move together as I believed separation would negatively affect their longevity. Vivante worked to make this happen. The management and staff at The Shores is as excellent as those on the assisted side despite myriad challenges dealing with residents who range from relatively responsive/communicative to unresponsive, bed-ridden and sometimes combative. If you (or a loved one) are thinking about making the move into assisted care or need memory care, may I be so bold as to offer a short list of suggestions of "things to consider" well before the move is undertaken? 1. Do your homework! Research different facilities and learn what is - and is NOT - offered (my work took me into dozens of assisted care/memory care facilities ranging from converted residences up to lux facilities which required million-dollar buy-ins) ... there is a qualitative and quantitative difference in the type of care provided; 2. Even though memory care may not be on your list of considerations, it's best to plan like it may be needed one day and act accordingly; 3. Get your legal, financial and familial houses in order before making the move (have a Will, update your financial plan and make sure any Trust(s) accurately reflect your wishes; 4. Get any government IDs (drivers' license, state ID, passport) updated even if you won't drive or travel again as having valid IDs will help family in the event they need to do things for you; 5. Consider adding a trusted family member to your financial accounts/credit-debit accounts including so this person gets electronic alerts whenever their is activity (like it or not, seniors are ripe targets for scammers); 6. You'll be moving into a facility that is not your home. Even though Vivante staff have (in my experience) proven to be caring and wonderful in every way, they have a lot on their plates every day. If you have family heirlooms, keepsakes or fragile personal items, consider gifting/donating those before you move as no one will care for them in the way you (or your family) do/will; 7. Downsize! You can't move everything into Vivante with you. And, even if you can, clutter is the enemy of living safely in a place like Vivante. Move with what you absolutely need and have a plan to get rid of everything else; 8. In the case of memory care, recognize that your personal modesty may need to take a backseat to accepting the care you require because you are no longer able to properly/fully care for yourself; 9. To the best of your ability, be kind and polite to the people in charge of your care whether it be simply preparing meals for you or helping with daily cleaning all the way up to and including invasive personal care such as bathing and toileting. These people (sadly) are not necessarily highly compensated. Yet, they do these tasks for you (and dozens of others) which you no longer can. Kindness goes a very (very!) long way; 10. Don't forget #1! Do your homework. Visit as many places as you can. Explore the facility. Test the food. Ask if you can speak with current residents. Online reviews, such as mine, can help. But, only you know what you want/need/expect.

My 95-year-old mom, who’s been at Vivante for nearly a year now, is very pleased to be living there. The care, kindness, and respect demonstrated by everyone on staff is genuine — and that means so much to Mom, and to us her kids. She loves the gracious feeling those qualities bring to each day. She enjoys the excellent food, the good company of other residents, and the wide range of activities available. She appreciates the space itself, with the high ceilings, wide hallways, and natural light. She was pretty down when she first arrived, but in this environment she’s bounced back and is again her cheerful self. From my side of things — it’s terrific to walk in and be greeted warmly, be able to find managers easily (their offices are on the ground floor off the main hallway, and their doors are almost always open), to have every encounter with each person on staff be a pleasure. Everyone’s so responsive. My siblings and I are impressed, and grateful.

This group of people is the warmest and kindest and heart-felt you could ever hope for. It took months for our mother to consider going to ‘one of those places. Like comparing apples and goats. The apartments are as nice as Villas at Newport, but the care and service is beyond the Montage or Ritz Carlton. Every level of care with fun activities and entertainment constantly. Food is excellent and flexible. Must go see! Thank you for taking such amazing care of my mom.

I love this place, staff take well care of their people. The only problem is the receptionist on the front of main building ( Old lady-white hair) dont know her name but she is really rude. I believe that the first face you see in the building should be a nice person who can guide you and at least have the manors to say Good morning- good afternoon. She only looks at you with a nasty look. Anyways! Other than that this is a nice place to be.

Okay, I'm ready to rate Vivante. I investigated many places for Pops to live that would provide assistance while respecting him as a bright, vibrant man. I envisioned a place that would challenge and comfort him. A place WORTHY of my magnificent father. I found that in Vivante and I wept in relief. This has been one of the most difficult challenges in my life. This transition and all it involves on a daily and emotional basis. Vivante makes it better. It is still a lot but this transition time has been as simple as it can be because of the people here at Vivante. I strongly recommend that you check it out to see if Vivante is a good fit for your loved one. Please, don't make a decision without looking at Vivante.

My father has lived in a Senior Living facilites for the past 10 years. This is by far the nicest facility I have ever visited. The food is outstanding. The clam chowder was the best I have ever tasted. The staff are kind and really helpful. Needless to say I moved him here and I am delighted.

Vivante claims that it is 'enhanced living on the coast' I would say great living for seniors anywhere! and definitely a luxury retirement community! Vivante is a place like no other for seniors to enjoy life! In researching a senior living facility with services, I visited 5 such entities within my geographic preferred area. Fortunately for me and my uncle, I had Vivante fall within my search area. Vivante was the fourth stop in my search and straight away, it rose to the top spot. The friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, caused a first impression that was well substantiated by our experience thus far. Upon completing my selection process, I had no doubt, that I had made the right choice. Cost being a factor, Vivante was slightly higher than the second and third choices, but the environment, amenities, services, menus, made it like comparing a five star resort to a cabin lodge! Upon checking him in, it became apparent that the staff's concern for the residents is genuine. That the accommodations are top notch, His apartment is excellently appointed and equipped. The 2 door fridge, the stove, oven & microwave, the he'll never use, all top brand. The washer dryer in the apartment, a major convenience, that none of the other facilities provides. Once we finished the move, we were treated to brunch/lunch, and that reaffirmed our assertion that the cuisine was gourmet and that they prepared the meals with fresh top quality ingredients. After a mere week in the facility, my uncle is a well adjusted happy resident. He participates in a variety of daily activities, each and every day, gets to socialize with as many people as he encounters each day. The staff is impressed with how quickly he adapted and how active he is., after all he is only 94. Every day he leaves his apartment for breakfast around 8 AM and does not return to it, until after dinner, somewhere around 7:30 to 8 PM, partaking in as many activities as peak his interest. Thus far he has not missed a single 'total body exercise class' to which he says, "I didn't think I could do that, and yet I can" Just this past Saturday, they held a dance, with a 14 piece band, playing swing and an assortment of music, to which he danced for two and a half hours. He amazes us, the place amazes us, as it makes his life worth living for as long as he has left! Having friends with their parents in other facilities and comparing what they pay and what they get I am convinced that I did right by him! I would recommend Vivante to anybody who is looking for an independent or assisted living faclity for themselves or for their loved ones! By the way, I visit my uncle nearly every single day and I can attest to his claims and mine!

I moved my uncle here at the end of September. I cannot say enough about the quality of this place. Five stars isn't high enough a rating. The staff makes all the difference, they are caring, friendly, observant, anticipating, dedicated, happy to help, I run out of adjectives to praise them. The place is a combination of a resort facility and a luxury cruise ship, the food is gourmet, varied and delicious. The dining room is open from 7 AM to 7 PM. There is an indoor swimming pool, a state of the art gym, the grounds are lovely and well maintained, it has a quarter mile walking track, dog park, boccie ball court, putting green, a rooftop patio with a million dollar view of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. They have a library and a cinema room, where they show movies daily. There are all type of daily activities to keep the resident busy and entertained. They have live entertainment several times a week and happy hour twice a week. The furnishings and decorations are modern, comfortable and the art is tasteful, the colors are happy throughout. There are two patios where they hold events when the weather permits it, such as barbecues. I visit him on the average 4 times a week, I feel like they are all my family, I've gotten to know quite a few of the residents and the majority of the staff. I'm lucky that I found this residence for my uncle, he's very happy to live here. I bring friends and family to check out this resort and none can believe how unique it is. I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone seeking an assisted living facility or a memory care one.

My sister and I researched the assisted living facilities in the area most convenient to our parents' home, doctors and church. We toured Vivante first - not recommended if you actually want to "comparison shop". There *is* no comparison between Vivante and anywhere else. As a resident we met during our orientation put it, "It's the cruise ship that never sails!" Holly provided my sister and I with the perfect first impression - she gave us our comprehensive tour, introducing us to staff members along the way. One of the first and most striking things I noticed was how the staff - everyone from the maintenance crew to the caregivers to the wait staff to the facility owners and directors - treated the residents: calling them by name, speaking to each other about specific residents, treating them as valued and respected customers, but with a familiarity that reflected true concern for and intimate knowledge of each one. "Family"... My parents, with whom we had not discussed "assisted living" at all until we took them the Vivante brochure that afternoon, insisted on visiting within the hour, and Holly toured the 4 of us again. Due to unforeseen but meant-to-be circumstances, my parents found the perfect unit and moved in less than a month later. The move-in process itself solidified our love affair with Vivante - Holly, Danielle (move-in coordinator), Joe (maintenance) and his staff, Mark (IT) and numerous others behind the scenes jumped through hoops to make my parents' transition smooth and their new home "perfect". As anyone who has moved elderly loved ones from their home to another facility knows, it is stressful under the best circumstances. I can be - okay, I *am* - a bit - okay, *very* - demanding, especially where my loved ones are concerned. Each and every request I made or question I had was addressed with patience, respect and promptness. I won't detail the amenities, since other posts do a great job of that. For our family, the joy and complete satisfaction - what makes this place "home" for my treasured parents, and gives my sister and me total peace of mind - is the people. Yes, the facilities are beautiful and the amenities amazing, but would be nothing but structures and things if not for the beautiful and amazing people who staff them. Holly has remained close to each of my family members, always providing hugs and an ear for conversation if one of us asks. Danielle made the move-in process itself painless and smooth, and was always just a call or email away with prompt and kind responses to our (usually my...) issues. Joe and his staff have each surpassed expectations by providing any requested maintenance task or service with a smile. Mark has taught both of my parents how to use and enjoy their iPads (provided to all residents), and remains instrumental in helping, them and me, with all things technical. And yes, the food and restaurant are phenomenal, but the restaurant managers Lisa and Lynette, and each and every one of their staff, make the dining experience one of the highlights of the day. The managers and each of the wait staff know the residents by face and name, and are aware of whether or not they show up for meals. My parents, and even my sister and I, are greeted by name at each meal, and my folks' meal and drink preferences are known and offered before they even have to ask. I have just planned a surprise birthday party for my mother in the private dining room, and Lynnette and the chef have gone above and beyond to ensure that the experience is better and so much more personal than we would ever have at a restaurant. I'm sure I'll have a glowing addendum to this review after the party tomorrow night. I visit my parents several times each week, never turning down a meal . On most visits I see, and am always warmly and personally greeted by, the owner Corey Alder and his wife - who shall remain nameless here, because discovering who she is is part of the magic and beauty of who she is . They are both hands-on and compassionate and intimately service-oriented, and obviously require the same from each of their staff members - which means everything to residents and family members alike. If an individual or couple is fortunate enough to choose a senior living community for themselves, or to be able to make that choice for their loved one(s), there is no classier, more modern, or more beautiful facility in Orange County. But it's the *people* that make Vivante a Home, filled with devoted and impassioned extended Family members. Our family loves and appreciates everything about and everyone at Vivante!

We have a really beautiful building and all of the amenities of a resort or cruise ship. However the reason I love going to work everyday is because of the people!
